Chapter 18: Fate is such a Tease.

“So, you’re leaving, huh?” Naba looked at him as Turles stepped on the entrance of his attack ball.

“Yep. See ya later, Sis. Don’t know when I'll be back, though. Since General Zarbon and Dodoria don’t like me, it's going to be hard to rise in the ranks by staying here waiting for missions. So, I might as well go conquer planets on my own and show my value to Lord Frieza without those two making trouble for me.” Turles explained.

“...” Naba looked at the insane brat.

“Try not to get bullied by anyone while I’m gone. I can’t help out all the way in space.” Turles reminded her.

“Don’t die, alright?” Naba told him.

“I’ll be back before you know it.” Turles gave a small smile.

“I’ll be fine. No one is going to cause trouble for an operator like me with a maniac like you gone.” Naba grinned.

“They better hope not. There are a lot of things worse than death in this world, after all.” Turles entered his spaceship.

Turles waved goodbye as he and Sai flew off into space. Turles let out a sigh. This journey of his would take a long time. Hopefully, he’ll be able to find what he needs before the series starts. It’ll be fine if it doesn’t, but accomplishing his goals will be far easier if he does.

His first goal was to find the Tree of Might and use its seeds to further his strength. The Tree of Might was visible from space which would make things easier for Turles as long as the damn thing was planted already. Otherwise, he’d be looking for a single plant seed in the vastness of space. Considering the character whose body he’s in, Turles hoped that destiny wouldn’t play a cruel joke on him. He and that tree were destined to be together, just like how it was Turles’s fate to take control and dominate the multiverse. The bad guys would win, no matter what.

“Sai, this will be a long journey. I’d recommend taking it easy and enjoying the ride.” Turles communicated to the saibaman through his scouter.

“Kyi Gyi!” Sai responded.

______________________________________________

Multiple years passed with Turles searching for the Tree of Might with Sai. Traveling planet to planet, enslaving their inhabitants under the Frieza Force’s rule, and continuing his training. While his training wasn’t as efficient as it was during his stay on Planet Frieza 17, his control over his ki and lung capacity had increased significantly. Sai has also grown far beyond the normal strength of a saibaman, thanks to Turles’s brutal teachings. It had a respectable power level of 9,000. Turles’s known power level hasn’t grown much from 15,000. In truth, he didn’t know his full strength.

You didn’t really know how vast and empty space was until you traveled through it for years on end. Turles thought space would be exciting and amazing, but it was a whole lot of nothing unless you were really interested in admiring nothing or occasionally admiring planets. Hopping planet to planet as space tourists was pretty fun. Hostile planets were great for training Sai and teaching him how to be a more efficient fighter. Friendly planets were great for understanding more about the universe, its inhabitants, and calming Turles’s building frustration at not finding the tree or seed.

Only after a long time did Turles finally spot his long-lost lover standing upright and proud on top of a planet, sucking it dry. Her beautiful leaves gently swayed left to right. Tempting Turles like the dirty, dirty girl she was. Day after day, he dreamed of caressing her sweet bark. Taking a gentle bite of her oh-so-sweet divine fruit. She would help him grow, and he would help her flourish in return. Two star-crossed lovers bound together by a fate undeniable.

He told Sai to land on the planet and turned off his scouter. The two crash-landed on the dying planet. Turles turned off Sai’s scouter as they ran up her many trunks piercing through the ground. Over the years, he’s taught many of his own tricks to the saibaman, like learning how to sense ki, how to concentrate his ki to produce attacks stronger than his normal strength, and even the fusion dance. Sai even had his own little container of saibamen to plant if he wanted.

Turles could see some inhabitants of the planet on their knees praying to the tree or pointlessly running away in fear. He ignored them as he called over his spaceship. The teenaged but still not yet fully mature saiyan laughed as he grabbed the light orange spikey fruit and kissed it. He laughed and laughed and laughed until he went blue in the face. An admirable feat considering his lung training over the years of searching for this naughty girl.

Next to him, the saibamen went wild at the sight of the fruits. It snatched up three of them in its arms and began pigging out without regard to its fiendish appearance. Turles watched in curiosity and amusement at Sai. He expected something significant to happen to the saibaman, considering it was a plant-based creature.

“Ghaa!” The saibaman screamed in agony as it dropped to its knees and vomited blood. Turles could sense Sai’s power dropping as well.

“I-Impossible…” Turles took a cautious nipple of the fruit in his hand.

The effects of the divine fruit were instantaneous. Power meant for the gods rushed through Turles’s body. He felt his strength rise significantly. His eyes nearly rose to the back of his head from pleasure as his body bulked up dramatically. It was as if he went into the third-grade super saiyan form. All bulk and muscle. Then he receded back to his original form, and Turles was completely fine.

Turles finished the fruit entirely and gained the entirety of its divine energy. He tossed the seed inside his attack ball to plant later. Then he ate a second one and felt another large boost of power flowing through his body. A purple aura of energy exploded from Turles’s body as his power exponentially increased. Massive gusts of wind blasted from his body, but he had none of the painful effects that Sai was going through. “So, two is the limit, huh…” Turles planned to eat some more later on, but for now, he had to gather as much as he could and leave before the planet was destroyed.

The powerful young Saiyan used telekinesis to toss all of the fruits into their spaceships. Sai was twitching on the ground, still suffering from the effects of eating three of the fruits at once. It was time to return back to the Frieza Force. His next goal wouldn’t start until the end of the Saiyan Saga.

Turles refused to wander through space aimlessly again. It was mind-numbingly boring, and it grated on his Saiyan DNA. Finding Planet Yadrat wouldn’t be nearly as difficult to find since it was close to Planet Namek. All Turles had to do was wait for Lord Frieza to call him in on the mission to Namek and sneak off to Yardrat to gain Spirit Control. If he was lucky, he could encounter Kakarot and take the opportunity to spar with him. If he won, he could gain Kaio-ken, the Spirit Bomb, and the Solar Flare. If he lost somehow, he’d still have spirit control.

“Ough…” Sai was tossed in his ship filled with fruit from the Tree of Might.

He got into his own overcrowded ship as well, careful not to step on any fruit and crushing them. Turles set his coordinates back to headquarters, but he certainly couldn’t return to the Frieza Force with all of these fruits in his ship. So for the next several months, he was going to become insanely strong or realize that there was indeed a limit gained by devouring the fruit from the Tree of Might.

Turles and Sai ate multiple fruits a day. No more than two at a time, with breaks every twelve hours. Their spaceships got filled with seeds from the fruits. Turles had destroyed all of them but one that he kept on his person. There was no reason to give others the opportunity to farm this power as well by letting them float out to space and land wherever they wanted. He would be the only cultivator of the Tree of Might unless one of the Kais fucked up and let another seed escape their grasp as they did with the one Turles found. Unless Turles got incredibly lucky, he doubted the Kais would sacrifice a planet to grow the fruit that had living beings on it. Destruction was more of Beerus’s job.

If it was difficult for Turles to gauge his power before finding the Tree of Might, it was impossible for him to know where he stood now in the universe. The same could be said for Sai, who underwent an evolution after properly eating a fruit from the Tree of Might. Turles guessed it was because Saibamen was a plant-based race. Their heads were like cabbages, and they grew from seeds. He knew in some dragon ball material that they grew to another level of strength just by eating senzu beans. Although senzu beans were amazing in their own right, they couldn’t be compared to fruit grown for the gods. They were just in two different categories to be compared. One was for recovery, and the other was for power.

When they returned back to headquarters, Sai was more than a couple of heads taller than Turles. The color of his skin changed as well. Instead of light green and dark green, he was now white and dark grey. He had white limbs and dark grey bio-armor. A large sword that was more fitting to his size now hung on his back in a sheathe. The little guy got interested in swordsmanship while they were out conquering planets. Turles felt pride in seeing the big lug, who seemed confused that Turles was so much shorter now.

“I got a few more years until I start growing. Now, let’s go get some grub. I’m starving.” Turles bumped into someone just as he started walking toward the entrance.

“You’re just as short as ever…” Naba looked down on him.

“Did you get even taller?” Turles rubbed the back of his head, looking up at Naba.

“Unlike some people, many of us grow naturally.” Naba teased him.

“When I grow up, I’m gonna…” Turles stopped his words as he properly measured Naba. “Okay, fine, you’ll still be taller than me when I grow up, but height doesn’t matter in a fight.”

“Ahuh. Keep telling yourself that short stuff. I don’t want to break your heart, but women like tall guys.” Naba led them inside the building.

“A real woman would like me for me. Not my height.” Turles corrected her.

“What kind of woman could fall in love with a crazy monkey like you? She’d probably die of a heart attack worrying about you.” Naba shrugged as if it was hopeless for Turles to ever find love.

“Just watch, Sis. I’ll get a girlfriend soon and rub it in your face.” They finally made it to the cafeteria.

“That’ll be the day. A woman falling in love with you!” Naba loudly laughed.

“A day that won’t be too long…” Turles locked eyes with an interesting figure in the canteen.

A red-skinned woman with some thickness eating at a table by herself was being stared at and talked about by others. Bonyu… He remembered her. She’s an ex-Ginyu Force member who left the team due to her dislike of the silly poses. Considering he had nothing better to do, Turles decided to entertain himself while waiting for the start of Planet Namek. He could waste time and look for Planet Yardrat himself or use the immense resources of the Frieza Force to aid him in searching for it, but there was no need to take risks like that. Turles decided to let things play out naturally while he enjoyed his time as a bad guy.

“Watch and learn.” Turles’s tail swayed with confidence as he took a seat at Bonyu’s table.

“Wha?! Wait! That’s!” Naba couldn’t even warn him as the stupid monkey moved before she could warn him.

“Join my Crusher Corps.” Turles didn’t give her any other option. He was a bad guy, after all.
