Kyle and Elena waiting for a while for Thomas Engen to return. While they waited, Elena had a little talk with Kyle.
"Kyle, I let you do almost whatever you wanted when you were little because my parents did not let me do anything." What Elena said was true, she was incredibly sheltered.
"But It looks like you are something special." Elena had seen a lot from Kyle recently.
"When those kidnappers took you and your friend, I didn't ask how you got away." Elena had just asked what happened and then was glad Kyle was safe. Not even Fred asked exactly what happened.
"I didn't really believe you learned how to use a sword from books, but I wanted to believe that you were my innocent little baby." Elena did not really fall for the lie Kyle told her. Fred was very enthusiastic about Kyle learning swords and told her that experience while a child was the best way to learn quickly. Elena had completely shut down any hope he had of teaching Kyle swords though, so Kyle was never taught.
"And 8 types of magic... It just isn't something that happens. Ever." Elena was right. Nobody in the history of the empire had ever gotten more than 6 types. While everything Kyle did could be explained somehow, this was not able to be explained at all.
"If you want to do something, or have a secret that you feel you can't tell anyone about, don't feel like you have to hide it from me. I'm your mother and will always love you no matter what." Elena was a sincere person. What she said just now, she truly meant it from the bottom of her heart.
"Okay. Thank you Elena." Kyle was deeply touched by those words. He had been with Elena for longer than he had anything in this life, and from anyone he could remember in his past life. This was not time as in how long he knew her or lived in the same house, because Kyle lived with his parents until he was 15 and started adventuring in his previous life.
This was time in close proximity. Kyle was sentient at a few weeks old, and for several years did not leave the house and spent all of his time with Elena. She was an important person to him, and always chose to give him the benefit of the doubt.
"That's mom to you." Kyle had accidentally fallen back to thinking of himself as the old hero he used to be, and though he always made sure to call Elena 'mom' and Fred 'dad', he just messed up. Elena jokingly corrected him and they continued to wait for Thomas Engen to return.

POV: Elena Mercer
How does he do it? Kyle is able to do strange things, but he never wants to explain.
He started reading when he was 3 years old. I didn't even know people could do that.
He was able to use magic when he was 6 years old at least, and even taught someone else how to do it.
He escaped at least one kidnapper while taking care of his friend at the same time when he was 7 years old.
And finally, Kyle killed 3 bandits when they stopped us in the middle of the road.
When did my baby boy start growing up so fast? When was the last time I could hold him in my arms and be holding a normal child? When will he stop?
What will be the next thing Kyle does to amaze me? What will the empire do if he catches their eye? What will happen to our happy family when Kyle does something unprecedented again?
The gold and black clouds... they can only mean fortune and death.

Thomas Engen returned with a man only a few minutes later.
"Is this the boy?" The man who walked in with Thomas asked. The man was tall and had large gray robes on. He also had a gray wizards hat with a high point on the top.

"Yes sir, that's him. Boy, put your hands on the crystal ball again." Thomas sounded a little ruder than when he first spoke with Elena and Kyle, but the man with him gave off the same air.
"Okay." Kyle put his hands on the crystal ball and once again it showed 8 colored clouds.
'Shit, it's my status and summoning magic.' Kyle knew what the other two colors were, but even in his first life people did not know what those two magic types were.
"This is very interesting... My name is Marvin Akira, headmaster of the Vegaland County mage school, and It would be an honor for you to enroll with us." The man introduced himself, and it was just as Thomas said, he got the Akira descendant.
"I don't want to go to mage school." Kyle said very flatly. For one, mage school costed a huge amount of money, and secondly, he would learn even less from it than he did from he school in Thornberry.
"If the cost of admission is the problem, it will be covered by the school. Miss, you surely can't be thinking of not enrolling your child into a free magic education?" Marvin could tell money was a problem for the two. Not only were they dressed in bad clothing that a family with strong mages in it would not wear, Kyle's clothes still had stains from blood in them. Anyone with money would have gotten new clothes.
Elena was not buying clothes for Kyle in Vegaville because she had no case to put the old clothes in, and after a good wash the blood would probably come out, or at least it would become less visible.
"If Kyle says he doesn't want to do it, then I won't force him." Elena had made the declaration just a few minutes ago that she would support Kyle with whatever decision he made.
"If you are thinking you need Kyle for some kind of job, how about I give you 30 gold coins? That should be enough to cover anything he would have earned working for you during the time he would be in the school." Marvin dropped the number so casually, but 30 gold coins was not a small sum.
The coin system uses iron for 1 coin, copper for 10 coins, bronze for 100 coins, silver for 1,000 coins, gold for 100,000 coins, and platinum for 10,000,000 coins. Anything that used a denomination over silver was big business. Marvin Akira was going to buy Kyle's attendance to his mage school for 30 gold coins, or 3,000,000 coins. It was worth more than Fred could make in 60 years as a guard.
"Thirty gold coins?" Elena was stunned. She did not know exactly how much it was, but she knew it was more than Fred could ever hope to being home.
"Thirty gold coins for Kyle spending the next 7 years learning magic at my school." Marvin felt that he was being very generous, but to get a mage with not only all 6 types of magic, but 2 extra unknown types, it was priceless.
"He'll -" Elena started to talk but was cut off by Kyle.
"Forty." Kyle demanded.
"What?" Marvin was a little confused at what he said. Was he being negotiated with by an 8 year old?
"Fine, 40 gold coins, but that is all I can do." Marvin would have to do it to get Kyle into his school. It would be a huge boost to his reputation when Kyle inevitably joined the Order of Wizards.
"Okay then, I will attend your mage school." Kyle accepted the deal with a smile. It might put him back a little bit with his plans, but he was given an offer he couldn't refuse.

What did my baby boy do next?
He set up the family with money for the rest of our lives.
