'Well...' Kyle thought about what he had done. He had not touched it or used magic, but the book fell into his hand.
'So if I do the same thing!' Kyle reached out his hand and tried to move another book from the top shelf. It did not move.
'Maybe there is a chant...' Kyle thought about if he said anything before the book fell into his hand.
'But I didn't say anything.' He could not remember saying anything before it fell. Kyle was at a loss for explanations.
'Maybe the secret lies in "I lift things up and put them down."' Kyle moved the book, which is like lifting it sideways. It was a stretch to think of it like that, but Kyle did it anyways.
"I lift things up-" Kyle said the words out loud as if he was making a chant so that he could imagine the book in his hand floating up.
It did.
"-and put them down." Kyle finished the phrase and the book fell.
By saying this phrase, Kyle remembered his time training with the monk to open his ki pathways and use the Wolf Fang Fist. Ki pathways stay open for a few minutes after opening them, and when he wanted to do something Kyle would sometimes open his ki pathways subconsciously.
Kyle flexed his muscles and stretched, feeling a small amount of ki travel in his body. He was unable to perform the Wolf Fang Fist because he had not trained this body. He could feel his ki now, but he did not feel it when he moved the lever or the book. Ki was not the answer.
'I have mana and ki... maybe I have another power source?' Kyle thought about what could have been moving the books. The spiritual exercise worked to stimulate the power, but it was not relying on the spiritual exercise. 'I lift things up and put them down' had another meaning.
Kyle remembered something.
It was a long shot.
It was something he didn't want to use.
It used a different power source.
It was used to kill him.
'Summoning magic is powered by souls...' Kyle reached inside his body along the ki pathways to find his soul. He had never felt his soul before, but he had also never felt his mana moving before this life. It was worth a shot.
Kyle used a small amount of wind magic as he felt inside his ki pathways. This was extremely dangerous and the weaker of the two forces would be destroyed.
The small amount of mana was battling with the flow of ki and destroying the ki. It would take years to build the ki again, but if he could master the new ability it would all be worth it. He might have to wait 10 years before using Wolf Fang Fist, but a breakthrough of this level was too important.
Kyle could feel it, something running parallel to his mana and ki, and at the source of the power was his soul.
Kyle had found his soul, but he had felt that spot before. It was just below his navel, a certain place that had caused him huge pain a few weeks prior.
Kyle felt the power inside of his soul wanting to come out, so he moved his mana and ki pathways to the side and let his soul power rush out.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Nothing happened.
Kyle tried to move the book, but it worked.
Kyle was moving the book without chants or phrases, it was just working. Kyle successfully used his soul to power a spell and effect the real world. Kyle moved a few more books easily but wondered how to make it happen without the new path being made.
'[Blow]' Kyle tried to use a wind spell, but it did not work. He then tried a few other spells but none of them worked.
'Looks like using soul power is blocking me from using my mana, probably my ki too.' Kyle came to the conclusion and needed a way to fix it. His mana was very important to him, and ki was very useful too. The key was in his soul though, and he did not know how to find it.
'I lift things up and put them down.' Kyle said the phrase again and felt his soul move. It was power coming from it, but the soul actually move too. It was moving upwards when he used the phrase, and the higher it got the more soul power came from it.
The phrase was lifting his soul up and putting it back down, and when he tried to use the soul's power it came out while it was higher.
As if realizing this was the key to everything, Kyle felt his soul move up a level and stay in the middle.
'Is this it?' Kyle felt he was so close, he just needed to return everything back to the way it was.
Kyle let of of his soul and once again lost it inside his body, and then moved his mana and ki pathways back to where they were.
'[Blow]' Kyle was able to use his mana.
'Wolf Fang Fist' Kyle was able to use his ki.
'Invisible hand' Kyle was able to use his soul.
Kyle used his invisible hand to pick up a book. Then he used another to pick up a second book at the same time. Soon, Kyle was holding 10 books in the air with his invisible hands.
'I came here to read, and I discovered this!' Kyle was celebrating his new found power. He now had something none of the other heroes had.
He could move objects with his mind.

POV: Demon King Hazar, Demon king's palace, 3007 years earlier
I am the laziest demon king in the history of the demon kingdom. Some people tell me I need to make better use of my abilities, fight the humans head on with my own strength, but that is nonsense.
"Fetch me the sword of Dir!" Some servants don't understand. They know I can used my power to bring the sword into my hand without having to get up, but what is the point in being the demon king if I can't order my servants around?
The servant walks to the other side of the room and gets me the sword. My own father used this sword 600 years ago to fight the humans with, but his campaign never got as far as mine.
If those heroes ever make it to my palace, I will use this sword to kill them.
It will probably take them another 15 years to get here though, so no need to worry.
