The 2nd guard was able to kill the last bandit with Kyle's help. The two of them stood there looking at each other from opposite sides of the dead body and didn't say word. It was strange for a passenger to help the guards, because a passenger that could kill bandits didn't need guards.
"Kyle!" Elena had climbed out of the wagon and went around the left side of it to case after Kyle. She saw the display of him cutting a large hole in the lower body of the bandit leader and was stunned. Elena knew that Fred liked to play with swords, but she did not know Kyle trained in them. She couldn't even think of how he found the time.
But what Elena was most stunned from was the way Kyle killed. She would probably stop to ask herself what she just did if she even hurt someone with a sword, but Kyle killed someone and then moved on to the next person. It was not how she raised him.
Kyle looked down at his hand with the sword in it, and then dropped it. He was covered in blood from not only the first and second bandits he killed, but from the bandit leader too.
'I'll have to cast Cure later.' Kyle thought as he remembered the possibility of blood borne pathogens.
"Mom!" With his sword dropped, Kyle ran over to were Elena was. Elena had stopped a few feet from the corpse of the bandit leader and was staring at it.
"How did you do all that Kyle?" Elena crouched and was level with Kyle when she asked him. Her faced had the mixed expressions of fear and apprehension, like she was unsure of how to talk to her own child.
"I read it in the books in the library." Kyle seemed to constantly be lying to Elena. Lying about going to the library, lying about being kidnapped on two occasions, lying about how much magic he knew, lying about how he just killed 3 people.
"You shouldn't read such kinds of books Kyle." Elena would have hugged Kyle, but he was covered in blood and she was relatively clean. It was unfortunate, but these were their only pair of clothes for the whole trip. Elena instead settled on patting his head when he came close enough.
'She actually believed that?' Kyle was shocked that Elena would accept such an explanation. 'Alright, time to put on a show.' Kyle prepared himself for something he had not done in a very long time.
"It was scary acting out those books, but I didn't know what else to do." Kyle forced himself to cry as he stood next to Elena.
"We'll get you cleaned up and everything will be fine." Elena tried to comfort Kyle by patting his head, but Kyle could not believe Elena was so gullible.
"I'll need a few minutes to clean up here." The guard said while he looked at his partner who was killed. The 1st guard was sprawled on the ground and had many wounds on his body from the spear. Even if Kyle was known for being able to bring people back to life, he might not have done it on that man.
----------------------------------------
The 1st guard's body was placed into the back of the 1st wagon and anything that was loot-able from the bandits was taken. Five swords, a spear, two shields, and various monster pelts. About 6,000 coins were taken from the corpses, and after 3,000 was decided on being given to the family of the guard who died, 1,000 would be used to repair the wagons and the other 2,000 would be given to Kyle.
Kyle had after all, killed half of the bandits.
The rest of the journey was uneventful, but the 1st wagon was moved to the rear and Douglas' wagon was moved to the front. The blood on Kyle's clothes eventually dried.

The gate to Vegaville was large, and could fit 3 carriages through it at a time. The wall of the city was twice as high as Thornberry's, and it had the work of a craftsman done to the outside of it, unlike the wall of Thornberry that was exposed stone.
There was a small line of carriages and wagons waiting to go inside the city, and a small line waiting to leave it. It was about 20 minutes of waiting in line before Kyle and the rest were up front to be searched.

"State your origin and purpose." A guard stood next to the wagon and spoke with Douglas while another guard stopped the wagon. Both guards had spears and wore green uniforms.
"We come from Thornberry to purchase goods. The two behind me are also from Thornberry." Douglas spoke as he looked at the guard to the right of the wagon.
"What are these weapons?" The guard asked when he saw the swords and the spear. The monster pelts were not of any concern, and most travelers had them.
"We were attacked by 6 bandits on the road, and the 3rd wagon has the body from a guard that was killed."
"Six bandits? Sounds similar to the reports we had been having. You killed them?"
6,000 coins was a lot of money. To have this much with them, those bandits must have attacked several wagons.
"They are all dead now."
"Good, good. You can go." The guard signaled his partner and he stepped to the side to let the wagon pass. Douglas waited up front for the other two wagons to be let through after the guard who died's body was inspected.

"Well Elena, we will be leaving the day after tomorrow in the morning, so be waiting for us at 9:00." Gorsha and Douglas dropped Elena off at an inn near the south gate and then went into the city. They would be staying at a higher class hotel because the inn would not look after horses.
"Okay, see you in a few days." Elena waved to them as they left, and then turned to Kyle.
"We should get a room so you can clean up."
"Okay mom." Kyle followed Elena into the inn and up to the desk.
"Um, we would like a room for two nights." Elena told the person at the desk. She had never been to an inn before, and was not entirely sure what to do.
"Sure, one single bed for 80 coins, two single beds for 150 coins, one double bed for 120 coins, two double beds for 200 coins." The person at the desk told Elena the choices of rooms, and it did not take long for her to choose.
"One double." Elena said as she reached into her coin pouch. She pulled out one bronze coin and two copper coins and placed them on the table.
"Per night." The man said when he looked at the coins.
"Oh." Elena was a little embarrassed, but she pulled another 120 coins from the pouch and placed them on the counter.
The man behind the counter reached under it and pulled out a key that he then placed onto the counter.
"Your room is number 6 on the second floor. Breakfast is served at 8:00 every morning, diner is at 18:00."
The man then took the coins that Elena put on the table and placed them somewhere behind the counter.
"Eh, thank you." Elena thanked the man and then walked off with Kyle. As they walked away, the man behind the counter looked at Kyle and wondered what happened for him to be covered in blood like he was.
Elena and Kyle went to the left of the desk and came to an open room. This was the dining area, and to the right of them were the stairs to the second floor. They both took these stairs and easily found their room. The inn had 5 rooms on one side and 4 on the other. Their room was the first on the left side after coming up the stairs.
The inside of the room was very plain, and did not even have running water. It was now sometime in the evening, so Kyle and Elena would go to the Ministry of Magic the next day. For now, Kyle took a shower at the end of the hall where the 5th room would have been.
While he showered, Kyle was thinking about the next day.
'I wonder if I trigger the 'I'm new in town.' event...'
