The first weapon was made, for Joshua it was a pair of the 1911s that were similar to the Grief Set pistols, but with the words 'Marvel-VII' so it was part of the Marvel series. Underbarrel is equipped with a special charging system that builds itself over time. The more the gun is used, it can stack shots to charge an explosive round to the target.
They even manage to make some gear for themselves. Mainly a set of bulletproof suits with special fabric. It had some weight to it, but it may stop some bullets from piercing through. They needed some information, keeping their weapons hidden as they made this place their base. Hopefully they can figure out what was going on here. Making their way to a nearby town, where they see newspapers filled with the 'McDowell estate burns down. No survivors.' as the main headline.
Joshua and Fitz could feel the somber atmosphere. Like people did not want to be here anymore. Gloom and doom lurked between the buildings, they could see corpses on the ground. A mix bag of police officers and mobsters. The only other headline that was different was 'The Hunt for the Vermillion Family continues. Suspected in murdering the Mayor of the Illenwood.' Joshua and Fitz thought about the word. Vermillion Family, now it made sense.
The Vermillion Family was started by a figure wearing a hat, mainly known as the Hatter. Seeing the blurred photo of a gray haired individual with a large pistol in hand. Now that matched with Coffin Dancer's appearance, it meant that he was still guarding the people of Hatter's family. Joshua and Fitz tried to buy some new SIM cards for their phones. Buying a phone charger in the process with what money they had left.
The pair stepped into a cafe. Seeing a cute barista smiling at their direction, biting her lip as she looked at the two of them. This cafe seemed like a ray of sunshine despite the town's gloom. The people inside here seemed to be at ease. Be it police officers or mobsters.
"So what can I get you?"
"A mocha. Ice. Whipped cream." Joshua answered with a smile, while Fitz was only staring at the black coffee with the label 'Darker than black'.
"Darker than black. 2 cups. Large." The Barista took note of it while Fitz looked for a place with a socket to charge their phones. Joshua waited for his order to be done, just browsing his phone for details on the Vermillion family, looking for the enforcer known as Cross. An attempt but it was a lousy one as many details went to be hidden as a result of many things. Grabbing the drinks as he sat in front of Fitz.
"Nothing so far. Seems like they really want this covered up."
"This is a mob town. You can't just say anything and expect things to be alright with it." Fitz said as he downed the coffee within seconds. Not a complaint of bitterness or anything. In fact, it was the opposite. Fitz looked joyful, satisfied by what he had taken. Broad smile, humming to himself as he took the second cup by sips. Joshua took a sip of his mocha ice.
"Enjoying your mocha?" Joshua had a bit of whip cream on his mouth, where he took a tissue to clean up his face. Fitz continued the search with his phone, looking for details to find the whereabouts of Vermillion Family. Looking for whatever details through obscure media, scrolling through the image searches. Currently what they found was the Vermillion Family's Enforcer known as Cross. Cross was reported to have been the one to kill the Hatter.
That much was established but nothing else was concrete. The level of detail in the articles kept most details of Cross to be said to have been killed as a traitor. Then any details of Coffin Dancer was a bit more unclear, they were trying to keep Coffin Dancer's true identity hidden as much as they could. The duo finished their drinks, throwing it into the trash can where they ended up seeing more mobsters running in the streets with the guns. Sounds of gunfights at another direction, a body was thrown in front of them. Looking at the naked white figures before them with the red sclera. Their hands changed into barrels of guns while a few of them changed into blades.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
"We've got Vermillion's Regenerators! Run!" The people in the town ran to hide from the danger, Joshua and Fitz drew their weapons. Only to watch the Regenerators develop holes in their body. Joshua and Fitz looked up to see a gray haired figure. That was definitely Coffin Dancer, wielding a pair of long slide magnum caliber pistols. The skeletal coffin like weapon was chained to his back.
"Coffin!" A voice called out while Joshua and Fitz watched the Coffin Dancer's marksmanship, Coffin Dancer leaped ahead, falling on his knees. One of the Regenerators ran to attack Coffin Dancer, who pointed the barrel of his right gun into the Regenerator. Pulling the trigger to blow the head of the Regenerator away with one shot.
"No!" A Regenerator was about to swing its sword arm to a child, only to be stopped by Fitz's gunblade. Pushing the Regenerator back, then firing shots through the chest to stop the Regenerator for moving for a moment. Fitz closed in, piercing the blade directly to the neck. Finger itching on the trigger as Fitz smiled to the Regenerator.
Joshua drew the Marvel-VIIs, the shots from it were able to push the Regenerator's back by inches. The bullets pierced through their bodies, slowly forcing their bodies to crack piece by piece. It was weaker than Coffin Dancer's guns, that much was obvious because it took one to three shots where as with the Marvel VIIs, it took 3 shots to the head and 5 shots to the chest to destroy a Regenerator. The cracked bodies caused them to shatter when they took another hit.
Though that's why the Marvel-VIIs had 21 rounds in both pistols. 42 total at least can snag a few kills before the reload. Coffin Dancer blasted away at the Regenerators. The under barrel magazine dropped as his skeletal coffin popped a hatch for him to shove it in for a reload. Shoving it in while his left hand kept on firing at the Regenerators. Dead on hits that strike the head and torso, when the reload was done Coffin Dancer readied the other gun.
"Coffin! There's a big one coming!" The voice was from a young girl who wore a headset, appearing from the alley. Where the large creature was a malformed Regenerator. Being as tall as a 2 storey house, its fingers opened up to become barrels of a gun. Firing off shots at Coffin Dancer, who put his coffin to take up the hits. The eyes of the skeleton glowed, where a handle popped up from the side. Joshua and Fitz moved to the side, where Joshua fired off the guns at the Regenerator. Taking the heat off from Coffin Dancer as it took aim at Joshua. Joshua fired his guns into the gun barrel fingers that it had, dodging to see the small spears that it launched.
Coffin Dancer grabbed the handle, pointing the bottom of his weapon coffin at it. Where it spiraled open to reveal gatling barrels over it. The barrels begin to spin, unleashing a devastating storm of bullets that rip through the Regenerator's body. Watching its back swell up like a newly filled balloon.
The Regenerator shattered, turning into white powder that was swept away by the wind. Fitz looked at Joshua who was reloading the pair of pistols, Fitz was just checking his gunblade. Seeing a bit of a crack by the blade, which clearly was a testament that he did not handle the blade properly.
"A crack by the spine? Well. At least I have a few of the blades." Fitz pressed a button underneath the barrel as the blade fell off, and pulled out another one to replace it.
Coffin Dancer holstered his pair of magnum pistols to his thigh holster. Clearly, Coffin Dancer was taller than Joshua and Fitz by perhaps another half of their bodies. A towering figure, but Coffin turned to the girl with the headset. Joshua lowered the guns.
"Who are you?" Coffin Dancer stood in front of the girl with the headset.
"Just a pair of free roaming guns. Well, would you believe it if we said that we were guys that were with the McDowell."
"I didn't know you were part of the McDowell family... I'm sorry about what had happened. Mister McDowell made sure that we're all safe. My name's Laila." Laila introduced herself.
"Joshua."
"Fitz."
"You're both Regenerators aren't you?"
"Yeah but we didn't die during the Regenerator process. So we don't need to refuel our blood. A bit different from Coffin Dancer here." Joshua said to Coffin Dancer that nodded to them.
"We'll continue with the boss's legacy. He said keep you safe, so that'll be our job too." Fitz said where Laila smiled.
"Thank you, both of you."
