Chapter 68 : The Void Dancers.

Chapter 68 : The Void Dancers.

The Void Dancers had orders to take on a few leaders within the Drusken Empire's armies. They were occupying a town. Victor 91 was wielding his dagger, standing with his teammates. The other Void Dancers were ready, they were channeling energies to their bodies from the Rifts. Essentially becoming living energy reactors of sorts. They began to leap upwards into the rift, now making their unseen steps into the town. Where they began their assault. A silent assault where none would hear it. Throats were slit, necks were snapped.

The Void Dancers kept their daggers at the ready, cutting through the Drusken Empire's Soldiers. The artillery barrage began where the Drusken Empire's leaders made orders to their men to take the front line. These guys weren't cowardly to say the least. They had some air of skill, and their bodies were more different. Their armor and weapons were somewhat of a decent sharpness. Though their armors were bulky, they had a blade rifle instead. The rifle portion was ordinary but what was unique was the shape of the hand guard. Allowing them to hold the empty portion of the stock as a blade. A lighter version of the rifles used by the Crimson Reapers.

"91?"

"Squad leaders handle them, the rest of you focus on eliminating the enemy soldiers quickly." 91 said to the others as he watched a Drusken Empire Commanding officer step forth, readying his weapon.

"I will dispatch you for the sake of my Emperor." Firing the rifle first, 91 watched the way the C.O would flex his muscles to absorb the recoil. A leap to the side, rolling as he got back on his feet. Seeing the damage in the buildings, it penetrated through thick layers of concrete and steel. That was not a simple weapon.

"Where are you looking!?"91 ducked, narrowly missing the blade that swung above his head. Seeing the wall be damaged as a result of the slash.

There was a lot going on here, particularly the marks of war.A town that knew nothing of the sort was now being thrown into such a calamity. The C.O was no joke, his strength was similar to a Crimson Reaver Initiate, but not quite yet proficient with the weapon in hand. Simple swings like a brute, where as the Crimson Reapers who had finesse and raw power to back up their attacks.

Even using the blade, 91 could only steer the blade off course. Swing after swing, trying to find an opening but with a figure that was built like a tank? His attacks need to be recalculated. Just looking for a gap as the attacks became faster and faster, each swing the strength was stronger. Channeling the black lightning to his right arm with the dagger. Proved to give him a short break through, a follow up strike where 91 watched his dagger hit the chest but not enough to pierce it. Backing away into the rift, giving him time to collect the black and white lightning to his veins. Returning back again, this time a frontal assault. A downward swing of the blade rifle brought up dirt and stone flying. Giving 91 some form of cover, a side step. Dagger to the shoulder, this time imbuing it with his full charge of black lightning to shock the C.O down, followed by a left jab. White lightning that bent the entire helmet inwards.

The C.O's body remained silent, but the attacks from before. It was close to being a Crimson Reaver but nowhere near in its roots. This was something that had to be taken to consideration.

"91 to Commander 151."

"Go ahead 91."

"Enemy Commanding Officer units fight like Crimson Reaver Initiates. It's safe to say, that we may be facing someone that's familiar with our combat patterns."

"Hm... Not much of a concern, those poor bastards lack conviction as we do but it is something to be cautious about. I will relay it to all other units. How's the liberation?"

"We're already done, sir." 91 said seeing the Void Dancers just gathering around. Some were just sitting on the rooftops, wagging their feet casually. The people of the town went out to see their heroes. Clad in black with their helmets covering their faces. Black cloth that covered their necks and in hand were their sub machine guns.

"Thank you." A child said to them where the Void Dancers stood to watch as more of the C.Os appeared wielding the same blade rifle. The Void Dancers backed away leaving the 5 squad leaders. Led by Victor 91, facing off against 30 of the C.Os with Blade Rifles in melee mode.

"211, 155, 545 and 797. Pair up. Limiters off. The others, do what we do best. Attack their supply lines, attack everything else. We'll handle it from here." 91 ordered the others that moved into the rift, where the other four paired up with one another while Victor 91 pulled out a second dagger.

The glare by the Victor 91 against his enemy was sharp, casually stepping forward as two of the C.Os charged at him with the blade rifle. Colliding with the black and white lightning, caused a blast. Kicking up dust, dirt and stones all over. The other C.Os stood still awaiting for their fellow comrade's survival. Yet, what was seen were the heads of the two C.Os that had been cut open.

"91?"

"I'll take them on. Keep the town safe."

"Yes, sir." The others left as 91 took a deep breath, unleashing a heavy sigh as he readied his pair of daggers.

"You truly think you can take on the rest of us?" 91 vanished into the rift, then reappearing by the side. Collecting the black lightning to his palm as he channeled it through his knuckles. A single punch was enough to burst a Drusken C.O's body from the inside. The others began their assaults, a multi pronged assault to strike from all sides. Yet as their blades reached 91, he vanished. Then reappearing with the blade driving into a C.O's throat. Vanishing from their senses and sight, their equipment began to try to detect them. Only to be taken to the rift, where Victor 91 held his hands out and then clenching it to a fist.

The lightning bolts began to smite into the C.Os, leaving them dead on the inside, shocking their nervous system completely. Then leaving the rift where their bodies were now brought back from the riftplane.

"Commander 151. I've got the bodies intact. We can do some research on them. Might be useful for us."

"Good work. Now keep at it. I'm sure there's more to be done." 91 watched as a few Goliaths came to grab the bodies, then bringing them away. The other Venerators and the Lunaria Kingdom's army began fighting the remaining Drusken Empire's soldiers. Where they began their work to relieve the Void Dancers. The Void Dancers continued to move away, fading away from the situation. Now preparing to handle what else was next for them. This time they were going to attack supply lines.

Rushing to the enemy soldiers that were slowly abandoning their work and their duty, giving the Void Dancers chance to confiscate some of their weapons, including a few deactivated Warwolves. Then finding more machines, more weapons. Looking above as the Drusken Empire's fighter jets began to take the sky. Readying to drop munitions, only for them to be shot down by the 3 Nightwings.

Victor 91 took a moment to observe the 3 Nightwings taking the skies. The Watchers of the sky clad in iron. The oils splashing onto their frames like blood, they were fast and brutal. Not slowing down for even a second. Dive bombing onto the ground targets as they unleashed a cluster of rockets. Unguided but all that was needed was for the effects of damage to occur. That was what mattered, the damage from the skies to the ground was easy to see.

The Drusken Empire's soldiers were faltering at the sight of the three Watchers of the Air. The three of them began to float in a circle, drawing forth their gatling cannons via a sub arm unit. Grabbing it as they took aim. Then they began to spin as they unleashed a hail of lead down to their enemies below. They scattered, no longer ready to keep their formation any longer. Leaving behind more of their weapons and equipment. For now it can be said to be a small victory of sorts, but the weapons and other items that have been confiscated?

It would be used as a means to strengthen the squads, maybe to even improve on weapons of the existing Familiars what mattered now was that there a few things that will be present. The new technology that was left behind, including aircraft was now unveiled. Tanks and other things were seen.

"Commander, Victor 91."

"What is it, 91?"

"We've seized some of their technology. Shall we be take what is theirs and convert it to our own? I'm sure having the Warwolves with some new form of combat AI would yield some benefits to our combat potential."

"Hmm... That is true. I will have the HDF take some of these back. We can ask Pride Rock for the new characters. There was more that needed to be done. This will be a creation of the specialized unit. I will leave the naming up to the Lord of Thorns. The Blade Rifle seems to have interesting potential. We may be able to figure out what to do with it." Commander 151 checked in. The three Nightwings lowered down to the ground as they got off their Valiant Suits, taking off their helmets. Pouring bottles of water over their heads. The three youths just took a moment to catch their breath.

Victor 91 opened the back pockets of his belt, passing three bars of snacks for them. They ripped it open and took a few bites. As a few HDF crewmen came to help with their weapons. Rearming them with ammunition, swapping out the barrels of their guns. Doing a quick maintenance on the boosters.

"We don't have energy to help them." Victor 91 gathered the lightning to his hand, flicking as the sparks seeped into the generator. Where the maintenance crew watched the energy tank go green.

"Thanks. Alright, Nightwings. You're ready for flight."

"Got it. Thanks Void Dancer."

"Keep the skies clear for us." The three Nightwings nodded as they put on their helmets and boarded their suits back. Where the engines began to roar as they took flight once more. This time flying straight into the next battlefield. The Void Dancers continued with their mission as the Venerators took over with the army to take care of the town.
