CH 24 - Rayn Princessmon

"Am I dead?" Kyren closed his eyes, resigned to his fate.

"KYREN!" Hiro tapped Kyren urgently. "We're being teleported to the Academy."

When Kyren opened his eyes, he found himself surrounded by a group of students in a vast event hall, which had significantly emptied since their arrival.

"What's going on?" Kyren asked, trying to make sense of the situation.

"It seems like we've all passed the exam," the girl who had nearly killed them remarked as she approached.

Meanwhile, Kyren assumed a defensive stance, wary of any potential threat.

"Don't worry, I'm not your enemy," the girl reassured them with a smile as she walked past Kyren and Hiro to rejoin her group. However, before leaving, she paused and asked, "What's your name? Both of you."

Kyren hesitated, still processing the situation and unsure if the qualification exam was truly over. But Hiro, unfazed, extended his hand for a handshake.

"Hello, I'm Hiro. How about you, miss?" Hiro greeted her warmly, seemingly forgetting the tense situation they had just been in.

"I'm Rayn Princessmon. Nice to meet both of you," Rayn replied, accepting his handshake.

Before Kyren could introduce himself, a microphone on the stage emitted a buzzing sound, drawing everyone's attention.

"Hello, Sky Students. I'd like to congratulate all of you who've been teleported here to this Event Hall," a voice announced over the speakers. Turning their attention to the stage, they saw the Vice Leader of the AL Guild, the one speaking.

As each student exchanged glances, Kyren and Hiro observed that many of them were more severely injured than themselves.

The Handsome Prodigy continued. "I assumed that all 797 of you discovered the real mission of the exam...." but got interrupted by a student shouting.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS EXAM! MY BEST FRIEND DIE IN THE FOREST" the student frustration burst out.

"YEAH! OUR FRIEND DIED BECAUSE OF THIS EXAM." another student said.

But the Handsome Prodigy flicked his hands, and the two students who were ranting suddenly dropped to the ground. "Oops, I read the information wrong. Forgive me. It's 795 students who passed the exam," he admitted.

After the two students fell to the ground, officials with masks rushed over to attend to them. All the students who had passed tried to see what happened to the two, but they appeared lifeless, with blood spilling from their eyes, nose, ears, and mouth.

Kyren felt a bead of sweat trickle down his forehead as he recalled Alaine and Patricia's warnings about the Vice Leader. He had never imagined just how dangerous the Vice Leader truly was.

"He uses some shadow roots," Rayn explained.

"Shadow roots? Is that even obtainable?" Hiro questioned, surprised.

"Somehow, this is the first time I've really seen someone use a root like that," Rayn replied.

"I see. That's rare," Hiro nodded.

"Anyway, why am I even talking to you?" Rayn's tone turned stubborn, and she continued walking to her group.

"What the? Does she have some dual personality? Before she was kind, now she's acting like a b*tch," Hiro muttered.

"Hahaha! Well, at least we're safe from her now," Kyren laughed after Rayn embarrassed Hiro.

The Handsome Prodigy continued. "From now on, we will all evaluate your run from the qualification exam and divide all of you in a section were your result allocated, from now on, just rest here until morning, there's a plenty of bathroom that you can clean of and we also prepared a meal for each one of you." the Handsome Prodigy walked out.

After the announced, Kyren and Hiro go to the bathroom to clean them up.

"Where section do you think we are Kyren?" Hiro said.

"I have no idea, but I think we have done a great job early on, but I doubt the final moment of the exam." Kyren said.

"Yeah! hahaha, maybe we are in the mid section like section 6 or 7?" Hiro said.

"Yeah, I'm thinking the same." Kyren said.

...

After Kyren and Hiro had settled in for a peaceful rest in the event hall, they were abruptly awoken by the sound of students arguing. The echoes of discord bounced off the stone walls, shattering the tranquility of the night.

"SO YOU HUMANS REALLY DON'T BELONG HERE. YOU'RE ALL JUST LUCKY TO BE HERE!" a student from the demon race exclaimed, their voice dripping with disdain as they pointed accusatory fingers at two human students.

"Please, we don't want any trouble here," the two students being singled out pleaded, their voices tinged with desperation, trying to diffuse the tension.

Kyren and Hiro stood up, their eyes scanning the room, assessing the situation as they observed the heated exchange.

"THERE ARE PLENTY OF POTENTIAL STUDENTS WHO GOT ELIMINATED, AND YET THESE TWO PASSED? WHAT CAN YOU OFFER HERE? HOW CAN YOU PROTECT OUR REALM? YOU CAN'T EVEN USE YOUR HEAD! AND YOU—WE DON'T REALLY NEED YOU ALL HERE. WE HAVE ENOUGH WARRIORS AND SORCERERS WITH HIGH INTELLIGENCE," the demon student continued to hurl insults, each word a venomous arrow aimed at the human students.

Meanwhile, a group of other students, led by a front man clad in complete heavy armor with a sword and a huge shield, confronted the racist student, stepping forward as bulwarks against the tide of hate.

"Enough," the front man with the heavy armor commanded, his voice cutting through the chaos like a sharpened blade.

"WHAT? ANOTHER HUMAN TRYING TO ACT TOUGH? ACTING LIKE A SAVIOR AND PROTECTING THEIR RACE'S REPUTATION," the demon student retorted, their defiance refusing to wane.

"We're not here to protect anyone. We're here to stop your disruptive behavior. You've caused enough noise and woken up most of the students," the front man stated firmly, his words carrying the weight of authority.

The demon student, consumed by rage, lashed out, attempting a cheap attack on the front man, but he deflected it with practiced ease, the clash of metal ringing out in the hall. However, the demon student had another trick up his sleeve. With a guttural incantation, he summoned a searing fire blast, unleashing an explosion that rent the air and scarred the event hall. Despite this, the front man remained standing, unyielding amidst the chaos, his armor gleaming defiantly in the flickering light.
