CH 2 - Nightmare

Exactly same year in the realm of Arramaya

Lying on the damp riverbank, a man opened his eyes,

“HAAGH”

Momentarily blinded by the orange sunlight. His head throbbed with pain.

The sun was just beginning to set, casting a warm, dark orange glow over the world around him.

“Where am I?”

He felt confused and disoriented as he tried to remember how he got there, he looked at his hands and naked body.

A sense of panic gripped him as he struggled to recall even the simplest details about himself.

"Who am I?"

"Am I being reincarnated?"

He tried to run through side of the river.

“Is this a dream?”

He tried to pinch himself, as he felt the pain he realizes this is not a dream.

"Ouch."

"My face... What do I look like?"

He calmed himself while walking through the riverbank, hoping to find someone who might recognize him.

After a half hour walking, he felt hopeless as no one is in the river bank, he sits on the stone and gazed at the view, the reflection of light on the water gave him an idea. He leaned over to look at his reflection in the river.

Stumbling to his feet, he made his way to the edge of the river. Peering into the water, his reflection stared back at him—a stranger with wide, questioning eyes.

"Black hair, black eyes, slender physique, around 19 to 25 years old."

These details added to his confusion rather than bringing clarity.

After a plenty of rest he grabbed a bunched of leaves to cover up, and start walking again, the landscape gradually transformed, painting a picturesque scene that captivated his senses.

The evening sun bathed the surroundings in a golden hue, casting long, rippling shadows over the tall grass that swayed gently in the breeze, the river's soothing melody accompanied him, its waters shimmering with reflections of the dark azure sky above.

After a couple of minutes he saw in the distance, a small town appeared, nestled between rolling hills and surrounded by dense, green forests. A weathered wooden sign read, "Vermint Town."

Finally his hope raised.

He changed direction and headed towards it. As he walked closer, he admired how the buildings blended with the natural surroundings.

Entering the town, he noticed the friendly atmosphere. People smiled at him, though their expressions showed they were puzzled why he is naked.

The smell of baked bread mixed with the fragrance of flowers along the cobblestone streets. Children played happily by a quaint fountain, their laughter echoing off the old buildings.

As he continued walking, he hoped to find someone who might recognize him. After a short search, a man struggling with a heavy sack of rice noticed him. Concerned, the man looked up and approached.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

"Are you lost? Do you need help?" the man asked warmly, dropping the sack of rice.

He hesitated but felt reassured by the man's friendly demeanor. "Yes," he said. "I'm lost. I woke up by the river with no memory of who I am or where I came from. I’m trying to find answers, but so far, nothing has come to me. I just remember something about the name Kyren... maybe that’s my name."

The man smiled and nodded. "I see, Kyren. I’m Hiro. You're lucky to find Vermint Town." Hiro patted him on the shoulder and handed him a spare set of clothes from his backpack. "Wear this. It’s my spare."

Kyren put on the clothes.

"Don’t worry. This town is small, and we have a close-knit community. If you’re from here or related to someone in town, somebody will probably recognize you.

Hiro gently pushed Kyren. "I’ll help you out. I’ll introduce you to the town, but we’ll do that tomorrow. It’s getting late now. Tomorrow morning is the best time to meet everyone."

"Why he's so kind, I doesn't feel right."

Hiro started walking, and though Kyren was still unsure whether he could trust him, he had no choice but to follow. "Come on, Kyren, I'll let you stay at my house tonight," Hiro said with a smile.

As the evening sun began to dip below the horizon, Hiro and Kyren made their way back to Hiro's cozy little house.

It was a quaint abode, nestled among the trees with a small garden filled with colorful flowers. The gentle sound of crickets filled the air as they approached the front door.

"TA-DAA! Here we are," Hiro said cheerfully, opening the door and inviting Kyren inside. "Make yourself at home, Kyren."

"I appreciate your hospitality, Hiro," Kyren said, grateful for his kindness.

"You've been so welcoming to me, even though I'm a stranger," Kyren said.

Hiro smiled and offered some food. "Let's eat. We can talk more over this feast."

...

When it was time to rest, Hiro insisted that Kyren take the bed while he settled on the couch. Kyren protested, not wanting to inconvenience him, but Hiro insisted, saying he was used to it and that he often dozed off while reading anyway.

Grateful for Hiro's generosity, Kyren accepted his offer and settled into the comfortable bed.

As Kyren lay there, his mind wandered back to the river and the reflection that had shown him the person he aspired to become.

He realized that he was already on the right path, surrounded by good-hearted people who cared for him.

...

As Kyren closed his eyes, the darkness of the night soon gave way to haunting visions in his dreams. In his slumber, he found himself running away from red devil-like creature,

As he realized it was a dream he stopped running and face the red devil-like creature.

“Who are you?” he shouted.

The red devil-like creature grinned on Kyren like he knew something about him,

"What's funny?!?" he said with a confusion.

but with a blink of eye, the creature lost in his vision and stabbed him from the back straight through the heart, and this made him snapped back.

But when he opens his eyes, it seems normal he’s in Hiro’s bed, but he tried to find Hiro, he didn’t find Hiro, he goes out of the small house, and he saw the town is in chaos, more of the red devil-like creature attacking the villagers, he doesn’t know what to do.

The air felt heavy, suffused with an unsettling aura that sent shivers down his spine, amidst the chaos and darkness.

He saw Hiro barely breathing after one red devil-like creature pierced his claw through Hiro’s stomach.

“HIROOOOOOOOO!” Kyren rushed towards Hiro.
