Young Dominic's POV

"HAHAHAHA! The potato lord shalt not let thee pass through thy door" I blocked the path, as my younger sister attempted to get pass me.

Her legs made loud sounds against the floorboard, as she threw her entire weight against me. But that was simply not enough, her 3 year old body simply did not carry the strength to do so.

With a loud thud, I found her crying on the floor. It appears that she had fallen down after her failed tackle. And thus, it activated her siren.

With the siren active, the demon known as my mother came up from downstairs.

"DOMINIC" she began to growl.

As expected of the demon, she appeared under a second. Literally, as she teleported right next to me.

"What did you do?!" she shouted at me. How rude, I was merely playing around with her. And why does she always approach me when something bad happens? I mean, there's always my brother Benedict.

I looked towards Benedict who was busy reading a book on Maxwell's equation on electromagnetism.

Damn.

Why is he always doing good things?!

"You'll never get me!" I announced. As I flew through the door on the first floor.

Telekenesis. My favourite or perhaps, least favourite skill. It enabled me to fly, but at the same time, was utilized by my very own mother to restrain me.

"Oh you're not getting away this time!" she announced, as I felt an invisble force pull me back. How reckless! Is this how she treats her 7 year old child?

"But I refuse!" I replied, sending the dust in the surroundings towards her, causing her to sneeze and lose her hold over me.

"I'm free!" I exclaimed, as I found myself outside.

Methendal village, was where I appeared. The village was peaceful as usual, as I flew around the place. For some reason, my parents decided "oh, let's build our house at the small hill away from the rest of the villagers so that it greatly inconvinience our travel time!". Seeing as my mother could just teleport, I guess it really didn't matter for them.

Ahead, lied the closest house, where a short but buffy dwarf resided with his flame. And I could swear that the flame waves back and changes color as it greets us.

"Oh Dominic, running away again I see" the dwarf told me matter-of-factly. And as much as I hate his teasing attitude, he was right.

"No way! I'm off to visit the land of potatoes!" I replied with utter nonsense.

"DOMINIC!" I heard a demon scream, as her presence was something I could feel comming from a thousand miles away.

"Seeya!" I hastily said, before running forward into the village square.

Why did I choose to run? Because she could apparently sense the path I take using my pisonic abilities.

Jumping right into the town square, it appeared that the demon had already arrived before me, and was asking the townfolk of my location.

I noticed that the local fishmonger, Uncle Bred had noticed my presence. With his keen sense of smell as a werewolf, I guess that he would be able to track down my exact location even if I ran off into the forest nearby.

He noticed me, and gave a clear grin towards my direction.

And then, taking the hint, my mother had turned around as well.

Betrayal! How could he betray me like this!? Even though I won't be using my trump card of telling his wife he had been at a certain shop, I guess I would now.

I returned a glare, with the sign of slicing his neck off, and began to run.

"I got you now!" the relentless demon chased.

"Im out!" I screamed at nothing in paticular.

Refracting the light around me, I went forth, charging straight through the crowded market. I realised that she could only sense my general location when I do this. However, the villagers here are able to see me as clear as day, as the seemed to side step and allow her to pass.

What is wrong with the people here?! Did the book lie about me being invisible?! No, light is already refracted away, unless they could smell me or use some other sense there was no way!

"I GOT YOU!" my mother's death grip clutched my head. Breaking my invisiblity.

"No you don't!" I shouted, as I teleported away.

She was on to me, but at least that bought me some time.

As predicted, she teleported to the top of the building near the market.

It was the village hall. Where the villagers gather to create rules. There wasn't a goverment or a ruler, it was more of a fully self-goverened village.

"Stop right there young man!" she appeared to be really pissed off.

But I had a trump card prepared.

"Take this!" I said, and used the recalling magic I red from a book placed on the shelf at home.

But she didn't attempt to dodge it, and simply walked towards me.

I forgot.

There was magic nullifying barrier here.

Damn.

With that, I was bounded up in her telekenesis, and was floated home through the eyes of the villagers. Experiencing public shaming at a young ripe age of 7! What in the world was going through her head?

The villagers however, took a mere glance before returning to their daily routine.

"I'll be putting you in the confinement room for 3 days" her words carried weight, as I felt her telekenesis tighten around my body.

It was sort of like a hug. But a realy really painful hug.

On another note, the confinement room was something my grandfather had made before he left for god knows where. It apparently prevents the usage of any pisonic ability of anysort.

The last time I was there, I broke down the door with my fists. So now, it was magically enhanced.

How rude. What kind of parent locks up a child without any freedom.

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

Apparently reading my thoughts, my bindings appeared to get tighter.

"What a problem child" she sighed.

Thats not something you say infront of your child you know?

Taking a look at my stats, it didn't seem to be your run off the mill ability. I mean, even the system calls me beyond prodigious, though the '?' bugs me a little.

Then why is it that the villagers could easily beat me? According to the statistics on the average ability of a soldier in a kingdom, my stats outclasses them by at least 2 times! And that wasn't even including my INT.

Naturally, stats don't determine everything. There was the influence of skills, the enviroment, and how the user utilizes them and such, which I was pretty sure that I used them perfectly. Well... almost.

Sitting down crossed legged in a sealed up room with my only point of contact being a small hole for food to be delivered, I laid down on the cold hard ground, and covered myself with a blanket that was the only furnishing in the room.

From the slice of life novels I have red, people my age were supposed to be running around with their neighbourhood friends!

Complaining to no one in paticular, I saw a small little hand sliding books through the hole where food was delivered.

"Umu, Domi--nic? Sowwy" as expected, it was my little sister.

Perhaps she was smart enough to realise that her crying landed me in this mess. But for some reason, I guess I couldn't blame her at all. Since I was the one who provoked her in the first place.

"why are you aplogising?" I asked her.

"Why?" she replied. Then sounds as though she was pondering the question, making a cute little hmm sound. Before running away unable to find an answer. Guess she didn't know anything about rethorical questions.

There were books on the theory of relativity. Quantam physics. Thermodynamics. Chaos theory. And such.

They were as thick as they come, and appeared to be quite used. Perhaps she was giving me the books she had already finished.

It was pretty suprising, since during her age, I prefered to run around using my powers against my brother. Who somehow manages to win. It was unfair, since he had a 1 year head start. In fact, I never red about the children reading any sort of books like this at all. I do recall the mention of this thing called 'school' though.

And thus, I started on the book on Quantam physics.

I noticed a really perticular feeling everytime I was in the room.

It was as I was reading this really boring book in the comfort of the blanket that I could tell that it appeared to be draining away my pisonic ability. Not just preventing me from using it. It seemed as though it was absorbing my power in a sense. It was really little, almost negligable if I wasn't feeling so tired.

It was something I had to find out.

Looking around the empty room, where the only light source came from the celling light, the room appeared to be awfully bright even though there was only a single light bulb powered by electricity. Throwing the book and breaking the light bulb, the room was much darker, as a small trail of light came from the small hole and the gaps between the door.

"Dominic, I am not opening the door even if you break that cheap light bulb" my mother's voice came from the outside.

At this point, I would have prefered if I was able to use my ability to manupilate light.

"Hey sis, " I called out to her, in hopes that she didn't wander too far off.

"Yes?" came the almost immediate reply.

"Can you turn of the lights outside for a while?" I asked.

"I'm scared of the dark" she replied.

"Oh" I was shocked at this really unexpectedly childish reply.

"Nevermind, its fine" I said.

Blocking the hole with the books to the best of my ability, I proceeded to look around. There was nothing different. There had to be a trick somewhere.

Perhaps the light was being reflected by some material to make it appear brighter?

Like some sort of madman, I began rubbling against the floor. I know the walls weren't special since I had seen it being replaced after I broke it down.

Scurrying through the floor like I was insane, I made loud screeching noises. This appeared to have attracted the attention of my sister. Who knocked down the books I used to cover the hole.

"Domiiinic?" she asked, brimming with unnecessary innocence.

"It looks so dark and scary behind you" she said.

Wait a minute. Behind, was she talking about my shadow?

I turned and look, sure enough, it was darker behind me. But it didn't seem to be my shadow. It was much much bigger. Perhaps the key to this mystery wasn't the light, but darkness. I was so concentrated in searching for a brighter point that I failed to notice that the whole place was darker than what would be normal.

"Thanks!" I gave my thanks to my sister who looked at me, confused.

This proved my hypothesis, that there was something wrong with the floor.

Hitting my hand against the floor, it felt solid all over. It didn't seem to be hollow anywhere inside.

If they are absorbing the pisonic energy, that means that they need to access it somehow to use it.

So, there has to be a switch on the floor or something somewhere.

The floor is darker, perhaps showing that it was able to absorb light? Was it painted black? No, it was something else. Perhaps the use of the chlorophyll present in plants to absorb light? That was a ridiculous thought, so I scrapped it away as well.

Now that I think about it, it wasn't black, it was 'dark' dark does not neccessarily mean that it was black. Perhaps it was something darker than black? Thus rendering it invisible to the naked eye!

That means, the floor I see under the light was a mere illusion?!

Could I perhaps make it clearer?

Attempting to use my light manupilation, I felt the energy drain out of me, but nothing was produced, however, I noticed the darkness turning darker and darker.

It was extremely tiring, so much so that an ordinary man can compare the exhaustion I feel, to the same as completing a full marathon.

"YES!" I unintentionally shouted, as I noticed a small change on the floor in the darkness where my eyes couldn't see.

There was this small circle imbeded on the floor, where it appeared to be carved onto the ground. The circle was now, in a sense, lighter than the darkness around it.

Dragging my exhausted body, I touched the circle I had discovered.

Nothing happened.

Since it was carved out, so finely as well, does that mean that I have to pour a liquid and it will flow somewhere to unlock something?

Biting the skin on the tip of my finger, I allowed my blood to do the job.

It was completely irrational, but at least it was worth the try.

Unexpectedly, it seemed to work.

I watched as my blood flowed in the darkness, and seemed to flow through a small hole in the floor, one that the naked eye couldn't see.

Watching my blood being drained from the circle, was a slow and painful process, as there was almost nothing that elevated my boredom.

As I saw the last trace of red dissapear, the room shook. By that, I meant that the floor trembled. It was like an earthquake but one that was concentrated solely on this single spot.

This was evident by my sister's calm demenor, as she was happily walking around with other books she took from the shelf.

The shaking stopped.

And the floor suddenly dissapeared.

I don't mean it figuratively, it simply upped and vanished.

The books could be seen falling next to me, as I attempt to use the blanket as a parachute.

Of course, it doesn't work.

The fall was actually only around 20 meters or so.

And I landed safely in some sort of gel that seemed to neutralize the impact.

I couldn't see much. The place seemed to be some small closed off area, with the only source of light comming from the glowing stone looking thing that was placed ahead. On a small table. Sealed up in a glass container.

"woah" I gasped.

The whitish glow that resonated around from the stone seemed to be calling me.

Did I perhaps stumble upon the family treasure or something?

The constraint on my pisonic ability appeared to have been lifted.

Attempting to forcefully open the box, it resulted in nothing but failure, as I was rebounded by some unknown force that sealed the stone within.

Trying to target the stone inside with teleportation only resulted in the same effect.

"Who goes there?" I heard a voice.

It sounded rather familiar.

From somewhere behind the box, my father appeared from the darkness. Didn't he went to work?

His name was Thyrum. A guy who had nothing else going for him but his muscles. It was pretty rude to say that to your own father, but its true.

"Dad?" I asked.

His eyes appeared to widen in shock.

"What's this?" I asked.

"Its... uh...where's your mom?!" he attempted to dodge the question. Honest to a fault, my father was never one that could lie.

"She's cooking or something, so what's this?" I asked. Trying my best to sound as casual as possible.

"Its something that came when you were born woops" he said.

As expected, getting answers from him was quite simple.

"Oh, so what is it?" I pressured with my upper hand using my innocence as a 7 year old child.

"I don't know, all that I can say is that your grandfather and great-grandfather worked hard to seal this. What are you doing here anyway? Did she punish you again?" my father replied, not realizing that he had given me some valuable information.

It made me curious.

What could it be that came along with me that was dangerous enough to be sealed away?

i wanted answers.

There had to be a way for me to get that stone.

"By the way Dad, how exactly can someone get that stone?" I asked.

"Oh, that's easy, you see, your grandfather had some sort of designing error, and realised that the table could simply be destroye...." he stopped before he could finish, as he noticed me destroying the small little table.

Now then, what is this?

My hand touched the stone, and the world appeared to dissapear behind me. In a flash of white light.
