Benedict opened his eyes.
An unfamiliar sight. One which covered his vision in a strange misanthropic wonder. An infinite darkness laid above where he would usually see his celling.
Like a broken video player, his past memories played inside him once again.
Without a clue of his location. Without even the slightest of ideas. He was alone in this unfamiliar land. However, he had a goal.
He crept around the rocky terrains, as he slowly made his way towards the modern city that laid ahead. There was laughter, or at least that was what he had interpreted the noise as. An eerie and creepy sound that leaves one's goosebumps to stand on its ends.
And it wasn't alone.
Benedict had the ability to make himself invisible. It was made available by reflecting away the light comming towards him through pisonic means. However, that didn't neccessarily made him undetectable.
Slowly, he carried on.
There wasn't a specific entrance to the city, as it appeared to start out of nowhere. With buildings suddenly being congested in one area.
Benedict noticed beings, sentinel beings. They had the cliche appearence of red horns and crimson wings added on to their skin of a similiar colour. Devils.
"I sense a soul nearby" he heard one of the devil's mutter.
"Looks like someone has made a successful contract" another one replied.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
"No.. this is a fresh soul. One still living in its birthed vessel." the devil replied back.
It was an intense feeling. One that left cold sweat breaking out of Benedict's back.
Could he fight them? Sure he could, in fact, anyone could. But whether they could win was a whole other story.
"Its near" the nasal voice declared, inciting the attention of the others around.
Benedict crept slowly. He was mere meters away from the closest one. He was unsure if they could see him. After all, the devil's were known to be able to see in the dark after all.
Suddenly, the closest devil leapt at him. He barely managed to dodge, leaning his body backwards as fast as he could. Allowing the devil to barely fly past him.
"Strange"
"I was sure I sensed a soul there" it said.
"Actually, I feel one too" another one replied.
He was in danger. So much so, that the situation was nothing short of hopeless.
"I switched visions, but the heat of hell is intruding my search" another one commented.
Perhaps the devils ability to see in the dark worked like something akin to heat vison?
Benedict took a gamble. If he were to lose focus and ran, perhaps the sound of his feet would attract their attention. Instead, he headed forward. Completely outside of expectations. The devils were searching around the area outside the city, as the smell they spoke of gradually faded away.
Within the city was even worse. Benedict could have sworn a few were staring directly at him.
There were random instances, where devils randomly attacked his direction. Swiping at the air, jumping towards him. Barely being able to avoid this, Benedict carried onwards.
A gigantic television hung atop the buildings, as Benedict looked up, he noticed a rather familiar sight. A scene of him and the others eating rotten flesh. A scene he would want to forget.
"Bahahaha thoese humans sure are funny" he heard somedevil said next to him.
"Yeah, just look at how they are struggling" he realised that they were mere amusements for these devils. Much like animals were to humans in a zoo.
Without being able to do anything about it, Benedict could only hope to somehow find a way to return back to where the others were.
He needed to find help.
But who would help him in this place?
Benedict despaired.
