Chapter 95

"And so, I'm going to be taking a little break from this adventuring business until I clear my name" Dominic finished the conversation in the morning, as his arms were bounded by Michelle, claiming that he would disappear the moment she let her eyes off him. "Wait a minute, you can't just leave us and go on an adventure with two bombshells on your own!" Kitzuma cut in, feeling envious. He couldn't count the number of times he was saved by Dominic and frankly speaking, the adventures they had together were rather enjoyable. "Relax, it's not like I'll be gone forever, just go and have fun with the other two" Dominic said. "Does it look like I'll be able to eat anything decent with those things over there?!" Kitzuma half-shouted. "Look look Kitzuma, the uncle at the shop said that this wine was rare and exquisite, and I only got it for all the money I had!" Perlin hugged a wine bottle that was clearly made in a factory. "A staff that extends the range of my abilities! Look!" Rachel declared as she swung around what looked to be a beginner equipment. "First things first, who is that uncle at the shop? The only shop other than restaurants that sell liquor is manned by a pretty lady! And why are you so happy with a staff that looks like beginners use? More importantly, how much is it?!" Kitzuma nearly cried, watching the two of them in the early mornings. "See? You'll be fine" Dominic nonchalantly ignored the disastrous scene before him. Bob bounced around.

"Alright, so how long will you be gone" Kitzuma tried to figure out a way for him to survive in peace while the only competent member of his party was gone. "How long will it take?" Dominic asked Michelle, who was still clinging to his arm. "Considering the legal procedures and how long the case was, I think we'll need some time to gather the evidence in private as well... so... I think 6 months?" she answered. The length here was clearly inflated, but she would never really tell them that. "6 months?!" Kitzuma was taken aback. "No wait, let me think about it," he said, as he fell deep into thought. "I know that we can barely scrape by without him, but I really want to sleep somewhere other than the cold park at night, what quest is there... if I can just get him to join me... " Kitzuma's thoughts fell back into the Holland kingdom quest they resigned yesterday. "There's no guarantee that we'll make it back alive like last time, but these two, especially that black haired one, she must really be something" Kitzuma came to a conclusion, as Titania broke the wooden table into two after slamming the cup onto the table too hard. "And for whatever reason, whenever I'm with him, things always work out... he must be blessed by every single fortune god or something" Kitzuma looked at Dominic. "Alright, before you go, can we go on one last quest?" he suggested.

"That's fine" Michelle answered instantly.

"I thank you, brave adventurers, for joining us in our last line of defense on such short notice" someone who looked to be the commander of Holland's army, nodded his head as he looked at the group of desperate or heroic adventurers that stood behind the walls, staring at the distance. "We expect the demonic army and their unholy crusade to reach this point within a few hours, based on their traveling speed on the occupation of the other kingdoms" the commander noted. "And so, we are supposed to defend until everyone evacuates?" Michelle questioned. "Yes, why of course" the commander let loose a smile as he sized up Michelle. "I see" she answered, as she saw the nobles delivering their luxuries, ranging from sofas to thrones into the portals ahead of the waiting citizens. As a matter of fact, if not for the need to collect payment to use the portals or even for the nobles to take all their luxury goods away, the evacuation would be over in less than a few hours.

"Wouldn't it be faster if we just killed all those people blocking the way there?" Dominic asked as he pointed at the nobles slowly walking into the portals with loads of trucks following behind them. "Shhh. But yeah, it definitely would" Perlin replied in an even louder voice. "Then shouldn't we get on to it?" Dominic asked her. "But killing is too much don't you think? I was thinking that we go over there and put a hole through their heads" Perlin replied, as she watched them push past the innocent women and children of the kingdom. "You two over there, we can all hear you loud and clear" the commander raised an eyebrow, causing the rest of the people, including the entire army to stare at them. "Oh that's great, so can we get to it now?" Perlin replied, causing the entire army to chuckle lightly. "You see, we understand your sentiments, but if their dead, you're not getting paid either" the commander replied. "Money will not stand in the way of my honor as an archpriest!" Perlin announced. "Need I remind you that you are completely broke right now?" Kitzuma shot her down. "Right, money will not stand in my way any other time but this!" Perlin restated herself. "I asked for adventurers, not clowns" the commander shouted, exasperated.

"Now then, back to business, I'll be explaining where each of you will be stationed at" the commander directed the adventurers towards the various parts of the city walls. "And the Kitzuma party shall be stationed here" the commander stated, as the team looked towards the horizon. "Isn't this the furthest location from the portals?" Kitzuma could only sigh. "Well, considering what your party members were saying just now, I figured that this is for the best" the commander, holding a grudge looked at him. "Wait a minute, where's that priest of yours?" he questioned, seeing her missing from the group. "She said she was going to water the bushes or something" Dominic replied. "Do you adventurers have a fetish for pissing before battle or something, that's exactly what Johnathon from the other party had said. Hahahaah" the commander made an unfunny joke and laughed at it on his own. "Wait a minute, did you say Johnathon?" Kitzuma asked. "Yes? The magic swordsman Johnathon of course!" he replied. "Oh no" Kitzuma muttered. "Is something wrong?" the commander asked, curious. "Nope," Kitzuma maintained a straight face.

"FOOLISH NOBLES THAT THREATEN THE PEACE OF THE WORLD, I, WHO PUNISHES THE WICKED WILL BE YOUR END" Perlin covered her face with small patches of mud, while holding a random sword she had stolen from one of the guards, stood in the face of the nobles and their trucks. "And I, THE ONE WHO SEEKS JUSTICE SHALL HAVE YOU LEAVE ALONE AND FAST" Johanthon, not bothering to cover his face with anything at all, stood in front of them with his magic sword.

"Heh, we meet again," Perlin said, noticing a familiar presence, a kindred spirit. "You...you truly are a fellow comrade" Johnathon looked at her with newfound respect in his eyes. "Alright, take care of all their guards, I'm going to the big game" Perlin charged ahead at the nobles who ran towards the portal as fast as they could, in fear of the attacker who had the guts and presumably, skill to attack them in the open, without even bothering to hide their identities. The shock and surprised caused their brains to go into overtime, as they ran from an archpriest with a sword. "Oww, my arm hurts" Perlin cried as she randomly swung it around in the air. "Foolish guards who still dare to collect entrance fees! Face my wrath!" Perlin charged at them while casting magic on them. (Note: she can't use anything aside from strengthening and revival spells)

"What's this magic?! Hurry up and dispel it for me. Priests!" "What's this?! I feel weaker!" "The strong magic swordsman is running over here! Hurry, get out of here!" The guards fell into disarray, as they scrambled into the portal. "These insolent fools who look down upon us, we will remember this!" the guards declared as they disappeared into the portal. "Get outta here hahahahahaa" Perlin roared, as the sword dropped due to her inability to carry its weight any further. "WAHAHAHAHAHA" the two of them, having triumphed the foe in battle, laughed their hearts out, as the citizens made a break for the portal, using this chance before more nobles or guards arrived. "My friend, it is time for us to leave" Johnathon reached his hand out to see that his friend was scrambling around the noble's trucks, retrieving their luxurious goods as her own. Naturally, in her head, a good deed deserves a good reward. "You are retrieving those products to aid the needy are you not?" Johnathon questioned her, as she nodded in return. I am the needy, was what she thought in her head while making sure not to leave even a single premium facewash behind.

"Get those imbeciles who dare to rob in broad daylight!" the two of them found themselves to be surrounded, as the guards who were lucky enough to be part of the evacuation crew gazed upon the two thieves. "Hand over those treasures now!" the guards demanded. "I see that you are a truly noble spirit, however..." Perlin began to speak. "You have served the wrong master!" "Ressurection!" A bright light engulfed the soldiers, as using this chance, the two of them made their grand escape, with Johnathon carrying Perlin on his back. "I'm so tired...and also out of money, I mean, mana" Perlin muttered behind his back. Meanwhile, the soldier who had the spell cast on him, burst out in tears, as he saw his dead wife standing before him. "Is that you...dear?" the soldier burst out in tears. The day came to be known as the great salvation, where two angels would descend and reward a noble spirit with what he truly wanted. The rumor would one day be carried across the entire continent, not that anyone would have ever known of its origins, not even the two 'angels' themselves.

"Hey, mind explaining why you're out of mana and half-dead on the ground?" Rachel poked at Perlin who was stealing her job. "Shut up Kevin" Perlin called her by her other name, feeling annoyed. "Alright, I'm not going to bother with you once the demons arrive" Rachel teased, as she went back to watching the distance with the others. "Why are they even bothering with something like demons, just go on and kill them, why wait" Titania complained, as she prepared to wipe the entire battlefield with a single wave of her hand. "It's not my problem if anyone else gets caught up in it" she muttered. "Yes it is, do you want to go back into being an evil god again?" Michelle pulled at her cheek from the side. "Well, with the amount of sinful energy I get from that city every day, I can just go back to being one anytime" Titania recalled the amount of pure evil intent in that city. "It's honestly comparable to hell" Titania kept that last thought to herself.

"DING DING DING" the war bell rang. "The demons are- ararygayughanjkg" as the man shouted, a demon flew in and carried him away, devouring him in mid-air, and dropping his corpse below. A black pulse erupted from Titania, as the black smoke engulfed the incoming demons, devouring their bodies as a whole, down to their very bones. Kitzuma could only stare in shock at how vast the difference was, between him and her. How many years of cruel training would it take for him to even touch the feet of such a stage? The pulse expanded tens of kilometers ahead, devouring everything that was living. The forests turned to a sea of branches, the water, drained out to the last drop and the demons, killed off without a single regard. That is, what Titania was expecting to happen to the rest of the army, however, a similar black pulse was fired back, canceling her own spell.

 Bob, sensing something, rushed forward.
