Chapter 100: Yipee whoopie its a milestone

Still 5 years ago 3rd POV

Mr. Spec raced down the alleyway near the red light districts of the academic city. The air flushed against his face as he could hear each and every thump hitting his chest.

"I have to make it" he cursed himself, as he confidently ran straight through different walls covered by an illusion spell. In his vision, he had made it in time at the last moment before the future would be completely ruined. Peering into the records, he once again confirmed what he saw.

Explosions occurred throughout the area while he heads directly towards the path that holds the future. He wasn't the main character of any story, neither did he even play a supporting role. If anything, he wouldn't even be part of the script. That was his role for the past hundreds and thousands of years.

The person he had to rescue was key personnel. One who would play the role which he never will be able to in the future. Neither him nor anyone else for that matter. Ahead of him, hid 5 followers of the demon sect waiting in ambush to get rid of him. However, for the man who has what you would call, the script of the world itself, his attacks already preemptively flew towards them.

Chains, massive and seemingly unbreakable flew towards them. Ignoring the walls and hitting their very souls.

"Gah!" they screamed out loud, unable to resist the attack, and were eventually dragged into a different dimension, sealing them off for eternity to come.

The smell of gasoline and sulfur filled his nose. Ahead of him, there were a dozen more of those worshippers he had taken care of. Conjuring magical circles filled with ancient writing all around him, the man didn't even stop to bat an eye as he headed towards the door that they were guarding.

Breaking through the doors and making a mad dash into the building, the familiar scene that had repeated in his mind for the past 10 years was shown to him in real-time. A bunny girl was tied up and ready to be sacrificed to deal damage to and affect Indra, the deity that had blessed the moon rabbit's race. What made it worse was that as one of the only surviving members, she carried one of the highest beliefs in the god that would directly affect the future hero's ability. Not to mention her relationship with the hero herself. An existence that would surely throw the future into turmoil should it disappear now.

Following the "script", he reenacted the actions. His body moved on its own as he smashed through the crowd busy drawing up circles and pentagrams. Chains grew from the magic circles he drew on his clothes, binding and dragging them.

Reaching the bunny girl who was tied up and unconscious, Mr. Spec turned around to face the 'boss' of the enemy while preemptively dodging the bullet that flew past his head. As he did so, he tumbled to the right to avoid the spikes that shot up at his previous position. Naturally, all of this was part of the "script".

"Don't even bother" he spoke towards the enemy "boss". A prophet that was similar to himself, one that worked on different principles and methods.

"You can not stop the -" Mr. Spec sliced off the head of the clone with a knife from his inventory. The body which the other prophet possessed collapsed onto the ground into a puddle of liquid meat. With haste, he proceeded to free the young bunny girl from her shackles. Carrying her over his shoulders in a one-handed fireman carry, he wasted not a moment and left the building. As if on cue, the building exploded right as he left. Dashing straight towards the streets, he navigated his way to the 3rd district and dropped off the girl at the roadside where she would eventually awaken and head home. "Looks like there's still a lot of things for me to do" he gave a complaint to no one in particular before heading towards the central district.

Dominic POV

We arrived safely at our new home. The floors were made out of a smooth material, which might be marble in the living room with the bedroom floors being wood.

The reason why I'm only talking about the floors was that there was nothing else aside from the floor in the apartment. It was a quiet neighborhood. In fact, we didn't seem to have neighbors.

"This is a sink isn't it?" my little sister pointed at the sink in the toilet. "I've only read about it in books!" she got all excited on her own as she played with the sink.

"Wow..." my brother exclaimed as he looked outside the window. Technology that they've probably forgotten about laid all around as they fiddled around with switches.

I looked around and decided that first things first, we definitely needed some furniture around here.

"Hey, Dom, I have something to discuss with you" my brother called out to me.

"These study permits they passed us, apparently it also restricts our ability to leave the city" he explained while reading the fine print written on the cards.

"It also states that we must attend an educational institution or we would be forced to leave" I didn't see any problems with what he was saying.

"So, what's the problem? You don't like it here?" I asked him.

"No, not that. I was just worried about how we are going to live here you know? Stuff like food?" then it struck me that we might have a few problems.

Yeap, we might have a problem here.

"How much do you have on you?" I asked my brother.

"..."

"9"

"I think we might have a problem here" I stated and I saw the panicked look in his eyes.

"Relax, it's not a big problem" I assured him.

"I have 23 here... try to get some furniture with this," I told him as I sent him the money. He had experience trading with the merchants that passed by. I was sure that he would be able to get something with that amount. Right?

"We don't have to stay here you know? I'm fine going back to where we were, but let's somehow let her stay here alright?" he made a resolute decision as he looked me in the eyes. A 12-year-old with those kinds of eyes proved to me why he was the hero. I saw him glancing at my little sister from the corner of his eyes, probably thinking about her wellbeing.

"Relax, as I said, it's not a big problem alright?" I tried to reassure him.

"Tell you what, I'll go get us the money some way or the other" patting him on the back, I headed out of the house.

"How are you going to do that?" he called out to me as I left.

"For starters, I can get a job. I'm sure you've read about it" I answered.

"I can't wait to start school" I heard my sister's excited voice in the back when I headed for the stairs. I guess I should look for a job that accepts young children.

Yes, I know. I remarked as I swiped the annoying system screen away.

3rd POV

Dominic walked down the street, looking around at all the nearest stores. A few of them had recruitment posters, promising a sign-on bonus and other benefits for prospective employees. Trying his luck at most of them, the owners of the stores turned him down simply for his age.

"Sorry boy, but we are looking for those that have already hit 16" as most of them said.

Without a choice, Dominic continued to venture around, in search of a paying job.

"Should I just steal?" he was tempted by the thought but quickly decided against it. It was fine only for him even if he were to be caught, but his siblings were an entirely different story on their own. The wilderness wasn't the best place for them to nurture and grow after all. And thus, he continued to venture around the streets.

As fate would have it, a pamphlet flew through the air and he caught it before it was about to hit his face.

"Now hiring at PitzaPub! Show your skills and be hired right away! Looking for the fastest delivery men available!" It was a job offer without any description of the pay.

"Well, it doesn't hurt to try" Dominic went ahead with it.

When he arrived, a man stood at the counter. The number of applicants appeared to be a grand total of 0.

"What is it, child?" the manager asked as he saw Dominic approaching.

"I'm here to apply for the job," Dominic said as he showed the manager the pamphlet.

Raising an eyebrow, the manager considered for a while before deciding to entertain the child. "Who knows if he might actually be able to delivery quickly" he put that thought in the back of his mind before beginning the interview.

"So... can you teleport?" it was a rare skill that limited amounts of people had, but the manager decided to try his luck anyway. Furthermore, seeing as he was merely a child, the manager cheered at the fact that he can probably pay him less should he prove to have the capabilities.

"Nope" Dominic answered.

"Alright then..." the manager felt slightly disappointed. He had hopes that the child might have the ability to do so seeing as it was for deliveries.

"So what skills do you have?" the manager questioned.

"I don't have any..." Dominic started to speak.

"But I'm fast" Dominic continued. As a demonstration, he appeared next to the manager in almost an instant. "It doesn't make me sweat either," he told him once again at a much closer distance. Thanking the heavens for his great luck, the manager started to discuss the pay with a face full of smiles.

"What do you think about 6 per hour?" Ruthlessly cutting the pay by more than half the minimum wage, the manager smiled at the young child. Even if he only made 10 deliveries an hour, Dominic would have already far exceeded his value.

"How much does a pizza cost?" Dominic asked back.

"The cheapest one here would be around 13 I suppose" the manager replied, finding it strange that he asked a question back.

"Can I get paid the price of a pizza per hour then?" Dominic made a counter offer.

Surprised that a young child would do so, the manager smirked inwardly.

"Alright, what if I raised it to 8?" the manager asked again.

"That's still pretty far from the price of the cheapest pizza you know" Dominic shot back once more.

"How about this, we put it at 8 per hour and I'll pass you a dollar more for every 2 orders you're able to deliver" the manager smirked as he would benefit from this regardless. "What's a dollar in the face of 2 more orders" the manager smiled happily.

"9 and with your conditions" Dominic decided to compromise. He was in desperate need of the job after all.

"Deal," the manager said with a smile.

"When can you start?" he asked.

"Right now" Dominic replied.
