58. Ace Vs Kevin.

Even with the snarls of the walking dead sounding in the forest, Kevin resumed his original objective.

'It doesn't matter what comes after us. I will persevere through it all as long as I get to kill him before he decides to escape,' Kevin thought and turned towards Ace.

He activated his Enhanced Vision skill, which he obtained while leveling up to enable him to see in the dark.

But unlike Ace, only his vision was enhanced, and he couldn't use it at the same time with the enhanced hearing skill he has as well.

But to Kevin, all he needs right now is his Enhanced Vision skill and nothing more.

[Ding! Enhanced Perception skill has been activated.]

Ace activated his skill as well and could hear the dead coming towards them, though they were still a bit far.

"Die!!" Kevin roared. His footsteps faltered, and his body and mind felt sluggish from exhaustion.

Still, his mind was hell-bent on seeing the young man in front of him strangled by his hands.

"You!!" He growled, to which Ace returned an amiable smile.

'It looks like it is working,' Ace commented internally.

This was another reason why Ace never attacked Kevin from the onset.

There was no doubt Kevin possessed strength rivaling that of the Dark Minotaur but aside from that, his speed seems to be the same as Ace's speed.

This means as long as he tries to avoid getting hit by Kevin, he'll be able to wear him out before going for the counter-attack.

He looks towards his sword, still stuck in the back of the driver's body.

'It will be difficult to reach it and grab it,' He thought to himself.

But Kevin noticed his gaze.

In fact, he knew Ace wanted to get his sword for a while now, and that's why he wanted to end him as soon as he could.

But in actuality, this was all part of Ace's plan.

Ace's real intentions were never to use his sword.

It was always his pistol he wanted to use.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

He had the revolver still in his inventory with six bullets.

He aims to tire Kevin out before pulling the trigger at point-blank range.

Yet why would Ace want to do this rather than shooting Kevin when he clearly has the upper hand?

This was because he was building up his confidence.

When he fought against a level Five Dark Minotaur, it took him a while to calm his mind and fight without making too many mistakes.

Moreover, it felt like the Minotaur didn't know how to control its strength.

But a human could think, learn and adapt to the situation it found itself.

This time around, Ace wanted to see if he could fight against a stronger foe with his mind relaxed while the opponent could think and adapt.

In other words, Ace wanted to fight against a versatile foe.

If he could tire him out and end him with a single shot, it will help in his growth going forward.

And since he had six rounds in his revolver, he wanted to avoid wasting his element of surprise.

His knowledge of handling a gun wasn't superb and Ace wasn't a sharpshooter who could fire a target from any distance.

If the element of surprise wasn't in his favor anymore, Kevin will be extra cautious and won't be caught off guard anymore.

"Ugh!!" Kevin groaned. Ace had been avoiding his fist, and his smiles seemed to be widening by the second.

Maybe he was imagining it, but still, it irritated the boss.

The feeling of frustration was beginning to overwhelm him. Now, he's had a change of plans. "That's it! Just die, you pr***!!" Kevin equipped his own G-23 handgun and aimed it towards Ace.

"Oh sh*t!!".

*Pow!*

*Pow!*

Ace quickly dodged before hiding behind a tree.

Kevin didn't know a zombie was within the surrounding, but Ace had seen and heard it a while back.

It had been snarling and loitering in the background, but Kevin's Enhanced Hearing skill wasn't activated, so he didn't know.

His frustrated bawling had been attracting the zombies towards their way, but now, the sound of his gun attracted even more zombies towards their way.

Behind Kevin, a zombie stretched its hand to grab Kevin from the back.

[Regular Zombies: Level 4.]

[HP: 40/40.]

"What in the h***," Kevin turned to his back with the zombie still holding tightly to his clothing before it tried to bite him.

*Pow!*

Kevin aims his muzzle towards the zombie temple. A hole appeared in the zombie's head.

It fell backwards to the floor.

'At least a straight shot to the head kills them,' Kevin thought, a smile appearing on his face.

Just as how Ace was cautiously trying to know what this wave was all about, Kevin, also was looking at the timer.

He stored his gun and bullets in his inventory, storing it for when the Elves make any surprises.

This much was expected for a leader of his caliber.

If he had been aiming and shooting Ace, his bullets would have been wasted if he didn't hit him.

The magazines were two hundred gold coins and since his gun only has thirteen rounds, he wanted to avoid wasting the gold coins he had in his inventory.

He turned towards his back to take a look at his rag tunic, where the zombie claw mark laid bare.

"Phew, it didn't contact my skin," Kevin sighed in relief.

'Now, where's that punk,'Kevin thought. He turned towards the tree Ace was hiding before the zombie interrupted them, but.....

"Peekaboo," Ace was already standing behind Kevin, smiling toothily with the muzzle of his revolver aimed straight at his temple.

A cold sweat drizzled down the side of Kevin's head.

"Oh f×ck,"

*Pow.*
