08. Potions.

With that out of the way, I drifted my gaze upon the parts labeled [Weapons] and [Potions].

A variety of different weapons came into view. Every one of them was expensive.

I scrolled to the bottom to see the least expensive ones.

The least expensive ones were bullets and arrows, and those were not even weapons.

Looking closely, I could see a weapon I could aim for.

"A handgun huh," I muttered depressingly while looking at the name, it was a bit similar to the one I used against Derek.

Then I turned to the [Potion] menu.

"I hope this should be easy to understand as well," I said before opening it.

[Healing potion -- 1,000 gold coins.]

[Health potion -- 10,000 gold coins.]

[Regeneration potion -- 100,000 gold coins.]

[Resurrection potion -- 1,000, 000 gold coins.]

"This game is a suicide mission," I slumped back down to the ground, knowing that the elves want every one of us to die before the deadline.

" There's no way anyone would last long in the game with prices as inflated as these,"

All the potions were pretty easy to understand. The healing potion will probably work for any cuts and bruises. The HP potion will help in replenishing a depleted HP.

The regeneration potion will most likely help in regenerating a missing limb, while the resurrection potion will help in reviving a dead player.

"But how will a dead player be able to use the resurrection potion?" I mulled.

"It's better I don't think too much about it,"

I muttered while feeling a bit peckish.

*Growl*

"Yeah, thanks for the reminder," I grinned, staring at my growling stomach.

My hunger bar was at 40% which must mean the more it depletes, the more famished I'll be.

I idly rose to my feet and then shifted my gaze toward the three dead carcasses.

"Aren't the bodies supposed to vanish or something?"

Most games I've heard of allow the body of the dead to vanish once killed.

"I think this particular feature helps to keep the game a bit more realistic," I assumed, seeing as how all three bodies still remained.

Looking around, everything else seems real. The cool air caressing my skin, the swaying of the leaves as the wind blew, and the rancid smell of iron made by all three players.

All these were vivid indications that this might not even be a game.

"After all, none of the players seems to be standing anytime soon,"

" So it's a lot safer to conclude that this might be another world but with game-like properties," I concluded before noticing how all three players were dressed.

"Huh?" I looked at myself as well.

"But… A few minutes ago we were all dressed in our black and white striped prison attire,"

"Just when did it suddenly turn into this," I mumbled.

Currently, just like all three dead players, I was dressed in a brown rag tunic.

The shirt had a short sleeves, reaching to my elbows, while the trousers were just a bit below my knees.

But that wasn't all, my hands, face, and body were sprinkled with the blood of all three players.

"I better get myself cleaned up,"

I decided, but the rumbling sound of my stomach made me drift my attention toward it once again.

I searched around, looking for something I could eat.

"Haha!!. Found it!!" I rejoiced, heading towards the thicket of bushes I laid my eyes upon.

There were berries in the leaves.

Blueberries to be precise.

I grabbed a couple of them and then placed them into my mouth.

No time to display whatever ethics or etiquette I may have as a human being.

"Ah!… It tastes so delicious," I cupped my cheeks.

" I have never tasted something so divine,"

It was simply heavenly. Tears streamed towards my eyes due to the excitement I felt in tasting such a delicacy.

[Ding!! +1 has been added to your HP.]

"What!! My HP increases just by eating?"

I didn't waste a second pondering about it. I munched as much as I could to refill my HP.

Several minutes passed, and my stomach bloated a bit.

"Aww, my stomach. Why did I eat so many berries," I groaned, placing my hand on my stomach?

But with all the berries I ingested, my HP only increased with an additional single value.

[HP: 6/10.]

"I guess this should be expected. The game would be too easy if I could refill my HP with food," I sighed depressingly.

"I will have to be extra careful with whom I face in the future,"

I cautioned, but the weird sound coming from where the three bodies lay made me instinctively duck lower to the ground as I cleared a few leaves to have a better view of what was happening.

*Bang!!* *Bang!!*

I saw five silhouettes standing beside the carcasses, beating them with the massive maces they held in hand.

"###+++....."

"###++++…. haha!!!"

*Bang!!* *Bang!!*

"Are they communicating?"

It certainly seemed like it as they exchanged a series of laughter as well.

One leaned forward to grab a bite of the carcass.

I squinted my eyes to get a better view of what they were.

"G… goblins?!" I subconsciously fell to the ground with my butt first.

"There are goblins here?" I remembered watching a horror movie about goblins in school from the phone of one of my friends at the age of ten.

I had nightmares for months due to that experience.

"I have to find a safe, secluded spot away from the goblins,"

"Wait a minute, if I make any sudden sound, it will attract their attention. I better stay put and watch till they leave." I concluded, hoping they would have what they came for and leave when they see there was nothing else here.

But my wish was short-lived because one of the goblins perceived the stain of blood on my tunic.

And now it was heading towards me.

"Oh! Shucks!"
