19. Beauty Equals Trouble (B. E. T.)

'For now, I, will aim to acquire above 300 experience points. I'm certain I'll be gifted a skill point once I've reached this value.'

This was my short-term goal. The main objective is to stay alive until the very end.

Currently, I dislike how weak I was. I had somehow been able to kill six criminals already, and I knew this couldn't have been a mere fluke, but I knew luck might have played its part as well.

Still, I wanted to feel more confident about accomplishing my main objective, which was to complete the side quest titled [Don't Die.]

*Growl!!*

"There's nothing to eat, but I'm starving. Where can I find something to eat?" I wondered right after I felt my stomach rumbling once again.

For now, the only means of obtaining food was hunting.

"I can't risk using the slingshot because the durability of the slingshot seems low, and it could even disintegrate if used too much."

The option of using a slingshot for hunting was no longer feasible.

The only weapon I had left was the dagger, but just like the slingshot, the dagger was also having a durability of 5% which means the weapon could vanish from my hand at any moment if I used it too much.

"I could try to rotate both weapons just until I find a new set of weapons to replace my current ones,"

For now, I have decided on what to do, but what I will eat remains a mystery.

"I'll focus on going after small harmless creatures like the rooster I saw yesterday and maybe even a rabbit if I see one,"

With that thought in mind, I decided to set off.

I had no culinary skills I could use to prepare something delicious for myself, but strangely enough, the chicken meat was far more edible than anything the prison cafeterias I had been to could ever provide.

While strolling, I decided to take a look at the variant of crafting recipes I had access to.

"All the recipes are locked. I'm asked to unlock the crafting skill before I can have access to any of the recipes,"

"Should I purchase the crafting skill before any other skill?"

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

I thought about doing this because I could always get an additional skill point once I leveled up.

Although, most games I knew about reward the players with a single skill point right after they leveled up, the truth was that I couldn't be sure if the same applies in this world as well.

"I just hope I'll be able to craft a weapon once I obtain the crafting skill,"

I continued to stroll along the forest. The sun had begun to rise, with the light rays piercing through the forest and illuminating everything in its path.

The chirping sounds of birds filled the forest as well, but after about half an hour, I came across a car parked behind a tree.

"It's official. I'm beginning to hallucinate,"

And why wouldn't I think of such a possibility?

If someone had told me about the probability of seeing a modern-day vehicle in this world, I probably would have thought the person was insane.

I approached the pick-up truck which had a cargo bed that was enclosed with three low walls and no roof on it, then I placed my hands on it to confirm whether I was hallucinating or not.

"It is a car," I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

It looks like I was hallucinating, but what I felt contradicts what I had in mind.

I squinted his eyes to take a look into the rearview mirror, hoping I could find something to eat.

"Yes!!"

There were a bunch of snacks I could eat in the vehicle.

"Ahh!!" The yell of a female surprised me while I was looking at the snacks in the truck, thinking of what I should do to get my hands on them.

I turned to see a lady on a hill, running towards me and holding something that seemed to be tied together by clothing.

Her clothing looked a little more sophisticated than what I and all the other inmates were supposed to wear.

Rather than the usual rag tunic everyone else wore, her attire seemed to be a thigh length black jeans worn underneath a white sleeveless shirt, which didn't fail to complement her sublime twin mountain peaks that sway at the slightest movement she makes.

Even though she screamed earlier, I had yet to know what was the cause of it.

I looked behind her once again and towards the hill, but there was nothing there.

It took her around thirty seconds to approach where I was, which happened to be right beside the truck.

Looking closely, I could see her shoulder-length flaxen hair with teal blue colored eyes.

"Need a hand," She said with a beaming face while tossing the thing she held in her hand to me.

I instinctively caught what she threw at me but noticed she didn't stop running but instead dashed right past me.

"Why would she throw a…" I had yet to complete my words when I noticed that the object I held wasn't tied as much as I thought it would be.

I loosened the knot to see what was tied with a ragged tunic.

"Aarhh!!" It was an arm.

I dropped the cold pale arm to the floor before an eerie ground-wrecking growl was heard from the top of the hill the girl came from.

The land trembled as a three-meter-tall monster came running with two legs from the hill.

"Oh, f***,"

Now I knew why she was running. The monster probably chased her because she stole the arm it wanted to eat, or maybe it just wanted them both.

And judging by the head and tail of the monster looking similar to that of a bull while every other part of its body resembled that of a human, It wasn't too difficult to guess what this monster truly was.
