All four of the others froze at that and stared at Joe, Gwenvair in utter shock, then remembering as she began to smile. Kilniara was awed and shivering in excitement, while Garnedell and Zilnek couldn’t hide their slowly growing grins of excitement and pride. Joe blinked. OK… that was a mistake? Maybe?
Kilniara bounced, “Yeah!”
Gwenvair quickly put an end to everything, slapping her privacy item that seemed to appear out of nowhere which formed a dome around all of them before quickly looking at the other three with weighted looks of caution, “This is not likely much of a secret amongst the clan elites. My mother noticed as well since Joe rarely used his mana, but…”
Joe’s mind whirled with the implications. The Matriarch noticed? OK… I’m… going to have to be careful. Wonder how she… Joe snapped back to the conversation when Gwenvair returned her focus to him.
She then turned to Joe, searching his face carefully, “You… do not need mana? You are certain?”
Joe shrugged, “I’ve never used any mana for any of the big monsters I’ve fought. I only used it in this tide to kill the monsters quickly so as to protect the people below. And,” Joe frowned in thought as he remembered the giant, “it seems that monsters can easily notice or feel mana infusions so… they’re a pretty big liability, to be honest.”
Gwenvair’s breath hitched as she stared intently at Joe, “Then… you should be OK with this monster?”
Joe shrugged again, “Maybe. I don’t know what it is. Maybe… Allanar would be a good idea for defense if I need to fight it head to head again?”
Gwenvair took a deep breath before nodding and dropping her privacy shield. Joe remained resting, hoping to recover as much mana for his points as possible. Gwenvair, however, quickly stood then nodded to Joe before rushing away. Well… no rest for the wicked? I guess? Look on the bright side… lots and lots and lots of leveling of lots and lots of jobs! Got me lots of jobs in mercenary, duelist, soldier, and warrior… Joe sighed as he stumbled to the walls edge. Really hope for a break soon, though…
