He grumbled to himself and almost turned to immediately change Zilnek’s job back to his cloth armorer job but then froze when he realized he was still stuck. If he changed Zilnek’s job, he would be forcibly changed to another criminal job, if he remembered their explanation correctly. And there were ‘dark’ priest jobs, if he remembered, which meant he would likely have his Saga job changed to whatever dark god existed. Or maybe Saga’s counterpart? Evil twin? How does … Regardless of what happened, he would now be saddled with a criminal job unable to change jobs because if he went to a priest to try to change his job, they would see he was a criminal and not change his job. That would raise all kind of problems!
Joe found himself struggling to figure out what to do next with that realization and really didn’t know what to do, until his thoughts turned to his plans for the future. Loki priest! I can become a Loki priest! And since that temple has been destroyed, there won’t be any clergy and I won’t have to be careful about my leveling! I can race through them then… what… get two… three... a day? Also… char the change job skill… then have that as a backup… Then... sub job skill! Ha! I won't have to go so slow! This realization made him giddy with excitement before he realized he would still be a bit stuck and in trouble as the first several levels of the priesthood jobs had no way to change jobs, which meant he would have to ask to change his job to the Loki priesthood, which … More trouble… Joe sighed. That meant he would have to go to the temple square to ask to change his job to saga chaplain again and again so he could change his job himself to the next Loki job in line. Which concerned Joe a bit as he could only assume there would be gossip and as each temple began speaking about several people coming in to change their jobs to saga chaplain, rumors would abound and he could only see attention growing.
He would need to change his job a minimum of four times, which would mean he would need to ask to change to Saga chaplain four times. Something that was a bit more concerning. There was one positive, however, as they’d all taken a trip into the inner city to be appropriately attired, which opened up the inner city temples for him as well. But … much fewer people and much more reason to… gossip and keep track.
Joe sighed and considered his options before ultimately choosing to pursue the Loki priest line. It was the most likely to allow for his freedom and allowed him to burn through it rapidly without concern, especially once he’d been able to grow far enough into the line. Kukurnal’s hints of when the job changing skill became available seemed to point to a sliding scale of difficulty, with the job changing skill a very high level skill for the entry priest jobs but an easily acquired skill for higher quality faith jobs. Once he was able to become a Loki chaplain, then he could change the jobs himself. Of course, he would lose the skill as soon as he changed the job to the next job in line, but he would be able to unlock the skill for that job very quickly when he leveled it the next day.
After that, it would be finagling his jobs and subjobs until he could find a way to maintain a faith based sub job which could allow him to always change jobs whenever he wanted. Then I should be able to… maybe… have my main job be one of the faith jobs and a sub job with another one. I’ll make sure to use the main job to change Zilnek’s criminal job back to clothe armorer. Then my main job would become a criminal job, right? It won’t affect all my sub jobs, right? Level main job change skill to one and also apply a ‘char:’ to it, just in case I lose all my priest jobs! Then I can still change my job even though … hmm… good backup plan! Joe could only hope, or find himself driven to seek out a dark priest somewhere, somehow. Hmm… it might be a good idea to have a dark priest available… ahead of time then… somehow? Somewhere? There’s gotta be one in the city, right? Just gotta find the underground. Probably not going to ask the powers that be… Joe sighed… realizing he’d lost his link to the underground after finding out the mob boss turned out to be the town’s princess… which brought up a lot of interesting questions and made Joe wonder about quite a few things, even beyond the simple and obvious why.
Before using his job change skill, he took one last look at the other skills he’d gained, and quickly dismissed them, although he did make sure to note them down in his book. After acolyte came monk, and its skills were several cures. He gained cure disease, cure curse, and cure debilitation, which seemed like some kind of anti-debuff type thing. The chaplain job came next, and hearkened back to the faithful and acolyte jobs, giving a significant boost to his MP and MP regeneration. While the monk’s skills were quite interesting to Joe, they were skills for another time and place and not currently meaningful at all. He did note them down, however, making sure that all the jobs skills were carefully noted and explained for those not clear with their name. He, of course, would need more time and experimentation to figure out what the MP boost and regen meant, especially in comparison to the earlier versions, but they were interesting but ultimately not very useful at the time.
Saga Monk Skills
Cure Disease: Can cure diseases.
Truth Reading: The ability to feel the nature of a statement and to know whether it is the truth or not.
Cure Curse: Can remove Saga’s curses placed upon individuals.
Cure Debilitation (1 per): Can cure a debilitation one at a time.
Saga Chaplain Skills
Truth Reading: The ability to feel the nature of a statement and to know whether it is the truth or not.
MP ++++: A minor increase to MP.
MP Recovery ++++: A minor increase to MP recovery.
Change Main Job: The ability to change the main job of a person.
In any case, he’d figured out his next step and began preparing to find a dark priest. With his next goal well and truly defined, Joe used his change job skill for the first time to become a Loki faithful.

Over the next tenday, Kilniara grew ever closer to Gwenvair. She found Gwenvair to be true and enjoyed her company immensely, finding time spent with her a joy. Each day found them gossiping and learning of each other ever more deeply, although Kilniara’s life proved quite simple compared to what Gwenvair had been through, and by the end of that tenday, Kilniara became privy to the shocking scandals of several of the various clansmen, especially of other clans. The two spent so much time together in conversation that their time in training while they fought alone began to decline. While they fought with Joe, he was able to keep them focused on combat until they were exhausted although Kilniara could only watch when Gwenvair trained her swordplay.
It also helped that by the end of the tenday, Gwenvair was much more willing to enter the bath with her, although she did still demand to bathe alone, uncomfortable in the public pools. The privacy, at first, was extremely luxurious and a bit uncomfortable for her, but Kilniara came to enjoy it immensely, the two girls chatting away with one another excitedly and in the joys of a budding relationship.
It was on the tenth day that Kilniara finally felt she had Gwenvair’s measure, and found her true. Despite that, it would still take Kilniara quite some time before she could speak of her plans for the future. But if any could meet Joe’s desire, Gwenvair seemed to be one truly capable and kind enough to do so. With that realization, Kilniara bent her heart towards achieving it, despite her trepidation over Gwenvair’s response.

The Saga abbot of Coushar woke the next morning with his daily prayers and ritual cleansing, satisfying the demands of his goddess. As only appropriate, his word from his goddess lay patiently glowing to his side awaiting his attention. His efforts had proven fruitful and he was able to turn his first gaze upon his goddess instead of his own prideful concern. His ritual proceeded perfectly, excellent, and he felt a certain pride in accomplishing his task so well. He quickly crushed such pride with a sigh and turned to office. As always, his message from the goddess awaited his arrival to the office and then his worship of the goddess drove him to seek her work for the temple first. He finished it and then turned to the goddess’s message with equanimity.
I thank you, goddess, for your great message. He turned to the message and grinned happily to see a new monk. Wonderful… He must be working hard… a member of our temple? I must have seen him in passing before… yes? Next I see him, I must praise his hard work!

Eight days later:
The Saga abbot of Coushar woke the next morning with his daily prayers and ritual cleansing, satisfying the demands of his goddess. As only appropriate, his word from his goddess lay patiently glowing to his side awaiting his attention. He fought his pride as it swelled within him for having proved competent and faithful to delay his own gratification for the goddess gain, focusing his meditation upon the goddess as he worked his ritual. As always, his message awaited patiently for him until he arrived at his office to accomplish the goddess good work for her temple. When he finished, he turned with calm praise to his goddess to her message.
Wonderful goddess, it is in awe I accept your message. He turned to the message and raised an eyebrow to see a new chaplain. Praise be to the goddess! A chaplain. This is a wonderful day… we must seek him… The abbot paused and stared at the image. I know this man… where have I… Of course I would know this man… to be such a hard working monk to gain the favor of the goddess and grow to a chaplain while so young… but… who is he?
The abbot sent forth a messenger calling for the new chaplain to attend him. When no one in the Coushar temple of Saga reported knowing him, the abbot grew deeply concerned. He stirred his temple to immediately seek out the new chaplain. It was only right the man find his place among them.
