Right… my magic. Calm down… not going to hurt myse… uh… can you hur… gotta have some accidents with fireball now and again? Right? And space magic seems like… a really really good way to get hurt. Joe’s nonchalant happiness of gaining space magic was evaporating rather quickly as he stood in an odd undefinable space. Yeah… this is… Joe’s breathing sped up and he stepped back to the door and forced himself to stop, taking a deep calming breath then closing his eyes and doing it again. Right… monsters in the closet. Relax. All good. He reached out a hand to the side of the door and actually calmed when he felt the solidity of a wall beside the door. It wasn’t so much a wall and while Joe had no concept to define what his hand was feeling, he felt comfortable with simply accepting it was a wall. It felt more like hardened space, than an actual wall, but he wasn’t going to figure anything out in here, not with his natural senses in any case, and he turned back to figuring out the wall, and soon had circumnavigated the inner wall, pressing firmly on it. Huh… interesting.
Stretching his arms across got something approximating four meters and his fear fell away, replaced by a deep curiosity. His grin grew and he began popping things out of his bag space into this space, even dragging in some furniture inside, including his entire bed.
One really interesting thing was putting stuff into the storage was similar to how he entered. It simply instantaneously teleported inside. One nice thing about it, however, was all he had to do was touch the item and the door. With that, it instantly went inside and appeared in the middle of the room. When he saw that, he frowned. It should have been in the corner, or at least the wal… Joe blinked. The item instantaneously appeared in the corner, then suddenly shifted to the wall he was thinking of. Joe grinned. He immediately began imagining the piece of furniture anywhere in the room and it immediately moved there through teleportation. He added in his bed and a couple other pieces of furniture in the room and they moved when and where he wanted. He then closed the door and walked around, feeling no different at all. His grin grew. OK… that’s… really cool! He even took a quick jaunt outside to the inn courtyard and deposited his bedroom outside, even starting to giggle a bit happily at the furniture just appearing in the middle of the yard. He sighed happily and filled his space back up and took it back upstairs to put it all back.
Putting it back proved to be just as easy, it appeared exactly where he intended it, but where his hand was touching. That took a bit to figure out, and ended up being quite simple. He wished it to exist in a specific place in the real world and then moved his hand closer until the object could exist as he intended and it suddenly appeared, as if from his hand. It ultimately felt more like he was punching or hitting the furniture if he pushed too fast or hard, his hand coming to a jarring stop when the piece immediately appeared.
Small pieces proved easier, immediately appearing in his hand. Seeing that, he tried to once again do what he’d done before, having weapons appear in his hand exactly as needed, but like magic bag, it came out in random and odd orientations, if always exactly in his hand. That confused him and he began trying to do that with furniture again, and it always appeared exactly in the right orientation as he intended. He began to frown with annoyance, but after a good twenty minutes of attempts, the furniture came out perfectly, but anything in his hand did not. He scowled, sighed, and moved on.
Stacker was next and proved simple but powerful and Joe was grateful to see it and that exhausted his exploration of the transporter job. It was exciting, if a bit exhausting, and he only had a few left to go so he turned to finishing up and looked at his next job: leader.
Leader
Group Split -10% Exp: All in group gain ninety percent of experience from a kill.
Convince: Increased capability in persuasion.
Group Full Split Exp: All in group gain a hundred percent of experience from a kill.
Coin Pouch: Hold your coin.
Group Split +50% Exp: All in group gain a hundred fifty percent of experience from a kill.
Morale +: Gain the ability to boost the morale of your group.
Leader was just as interesting as transporter and his grin grew seeing the skills. The first skill had him skipping down to see the three similar ones together as a set and his happiness only grew. It did cause him to frown a bit, realizing that somehow, the experience gain wasn’t fully shared amongst those in a group, but at the same time, Joe wasn’t really going to complain since he didn’t put too much effort into figuring it out, but with these skills, it did point to differences in how experience was given. Right… something to figure out… got some time now to do it, so…
Just as he was going to move on, he frowned, considering whether he should begin adding this to help Garnedell level up quickly but then considered Kilniara and came up to the same issue as before. Maybe I should just let her level… then hit the next wall? Kind of ‘prophesy’ it and maybe… she might listen about how it’ll get worse if I can show it will? Prove it? But… Joe wondered at what to do and the increasingly limited options because of his lack of char: skills. Do I even have enough to do both… think I’ll lose changes to be able to do my magic heal at night… and I really really want to level one of the transporter skills… probably magical bag… that… is very nice! I’m already at my char: swap limit trying to level magic healer… and I’ll get to my job change limit if I swap Garnedell’s main jobs anymore with max learning… he can go through the twenty or so commoner jobs in a day, getting them all to ten, probably…
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Joe sighed, lost in uncertainty. I can at least keep pushing for healer… that’s pretty important… and it’s not going to be too important during the tide… they aren’t going to be fighting… although, that group split… ooh! Then I could… wait. That’s a good way to not hide how quickly I’m leveling if Garnedell and Kilniara are leveling four… five… ten times in a single day. They’ll have to be quiet, but… Joe’s uncertainty returned and his frown deepened. Wait… Zilnek will know… How’s he going to handle how fast both of them are leveling… he’s going to be pretty pissed… struggling with dealing with his family’s loss and the thief jobs not helping… He wanted to think on this a bit more but felt exhaustion dragging at him and saw the remaining jobs and skills needed to be explored so put it aside and figured he needed to see what the monster tide would look like tomorrow. And how Zilnek is doing? No matter what it was, Joe really didn’t think the monster tide would be a very private affair.
He turned to his next skill, convince, and nodded at it. It was a decent skill, but nothing inspiring or exciting. OK. Good for negotiations. Gotta remember that… what am I saying… of course I’m going to completely forget this thing even exists… Joe sighed and looked at the next skill.
Coin pouch was interesting and turned out to be a magic space for money. That was it. However, it proved to be surprisingly versatile. Like magical bag, it gave a total value of all coins in the pouch, but also gave a listing of how much of each he had, even the bits and greats. He played with it a bit then blinked in some surprise when another small piece of information came through and he willed it to have a visible GUI and it came into being with a remarkably clean representation of a rather basic accounting listing. Joe blinked, then grinned. OK. That… wow… that would be really useful if… well… money was pretty much worthless for me. But… nice. Hmm… lets try… yesterday, I bought five meals at the local guild for… His thoughts ground to a halt when the entry auto entered with the total value input, red letters indicating a loss. Joe’s smile grew. Income for yesterday was nothing and… Tabulations updated showing a loss for yesterday. OK… so… this is really… uh… do the last five days and repor…
The simple sheet filled out, showing income and expenses with a rapid precision that left Joe bit stunned and with no little amount of concern considering that he hadn’t said anything. It’s… reading my mind somehow… that… OK… gonna have… mind magic exists… that much we can know now… gonna… Joe sighed deeply and lost himself in considering something completely different for awhile before he returned to this skill with a bit less joy due to the its ramifications.
The tabulation was complete and seemed right by then. In fact, it had completed quite a bit of time before, but his thoughts had gotten distracted by a new concern. Most of it was a glowing red due to him not having any steady income, but over the last couple days, they’d gotten a couple cores per day from one of the goblins, something Joe did to not arouse suspicion and to pay taxes to Gwenvair and her mother as they seemed to be in a bit of a bad way. He did make sure to damage them slightly but as lightly as possible, figuring it could at least be useful to them.
He didn’t take many so he only got a couple cores as income, but the system tabulated approximate value and showed he had a massive income. Joe grunted at that, laughing softly and turned to the last skill which was morale +.
That was another like convince and he was certain it would be powerful but it certainly wasn’t a flashy skill. Let’s try to remember this one… maybe for Zilnek? Maybe a counter to what he’s going through with the thief job? That… might help… Just… leave this one and do it in the morning then swap? That… might be a good idea. Then could I use the other things on Garnedell and Kilniara? Joe found himself waffling again. Right… move on. Skills.
Joe found his eyes drifting and may have even fell asleep, uncertain if he had. He did know he jerked awake and stared around blearily until he saw the available skills page still open and listing his skill from the latest job he had looked at. He blinked a few times then grimaced, turning back to getting it done. Right. Fast and done… I’m too tired.
Enhancer
+50% to Party’s Self Buffs: Party members’ self buffs are increased by fifty percent.
EmPhys – 1 1: Empower one physical stat for one party member.
EmMind – 1 1: Empower one mental stat for one party member.
+50% to Group Buffs: All group buffs’ effectiveness increased by fifty percent .
EmPool – 1 1: Empower one pool stat for one party member.
Enhancer proved interesting to Joe and he really liked what he saw. The buff enhancers were interesting but pointless right now as no one had any personal or group buffs that he knew off. Really cool idea though… wonder if it works on themselves. It seemed to be a powerful benefit for its own class as well, since this class seemed to have three buffs enhancing a single physical, mental, or pool stat. It took him a bit to understand what a ‘pool’ stat was, but quickly understood it was either his HP, MP, or stamina. That did mean he had no way to boost learning or luck as neither seemed to be defined by the three listed above. Maybe later? Really… interesting.
Ironically, he was only a little over half way through the jobs he’d leveled, but exploring the skills of the last jobs proved rather fast given the way they were structured and his joy and excitement at the powerful skills he’d gained was quickly crushed with the realization that he’d gotten too happy. He sighed and considered all his priest skills.
