Well hot damn, I’m rich! Not really, just got a lot of points. Points I plan to spend, now the question is on what? Medium casting is a good candidate, mana isn't a problem when I’m podded up but if I’m walking around that could get expensive very very quickly. Then there are the spells, I don't know how mages in this world get anything done with so many points needed to level spells. Then again the spells are fairly effective even at level one, it’s probably a choice between distributing points evenly or pumping up a few spells to be really powerful. Of course there are also the considerations for stats, which I haven't put much into.
I’m wondering if my magic stat affects my spells or just my mana pool. I faintly remember having a conversation similar to this with Grant, before those clowns tried to kill me. But if I remember right they never said anything about stats applying to spells, also never said anything about them not. Just that it was better to max important skills before working on stats. Hmmm, I can’t exactly test all this without risking permanent damage to my development. This damn system needs an instruction manual.
I’m not going to put points into mobile podding, I don’t plan on moving and to be honest with myself I’ll probably switch race to something different so I don’t want to risk wasting the points. I’ll probably lose the points I put into mobile podding and blend when I change over. It sucks but I sure as hell ain't going to be going into any towns anymore, not with how hellbent they are going to be on finding and killing me. So I’ll dump all the points I need into Medium Casting and Shield, then I’ll see how many I have left.

Well, I hoped to max them both but this is fine. Then again it's forty five points to fully max a skill, doing that with two skills is ninety points, so I didn't have enough for both. Nothing a few levels can’t fix. That reminds me, I never did check what putting a point into Weak Heal did. I haven’t noticed anything spectacular when I’m using it but I also never really paid attention. Now lets see if pumping all those points into Shield did anything. I cast the spell on myself and check my stats.
Effects:
Shield(275): 14:59
Weak Body Reinforcement: 2153: 58
Weak Body Enhancement: 2153: 59
Huh, that's um, that's a lot of shield. I stare in stupefaction and aw for a moment at the sheer idiocy of my own doing for not investing in this sooner. So many twiglings could have survived the last battle, hell I could have even won! Well, that's what I get for not checking my shit before using it.
Well now I’m pissed, and I can only be pissed at myself! That's the worst kind of being pissed off. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk. I’ll just have to be sure to prioritize testing my spells and skills in the future, particularly before I go using them for important things. Speaking of important things, I think those pesky people are long gone, so I send out my twiglings to collect the corpses. I’ll strip them for anything useful, then throw them into a new pile away from my pod, because the smell is getting bad even with the corpse flowers.
So I set to drain my pod and have the twiglings collect the dead. It takes a few minutes of waiting after stepping out but eventually the twiglings arrive with the first of quite a few corpses. I spend the rest of the day and well into the night stripping all the bodies. Once it gets dark enough I have to switch from personal vision to domain vision, which I find initially clunky and uncoordinated on account of the fact I’ve never tried to do anything this precise using domain vision and my fingers before. But I quickly adapt and get my hand eye coordination back and continue stripping bodies.
Most of them don’t have much left on them that is even remotely useful. Half the armor pieces are shredded and most of them didn’t carry much on them in the way of supplies. Only things I got off them were five more leather chest pieces, three more salve tins, a few dried biscuits and jerky, and a shit ton of half destroyed clothing. Not the most amazing haul, but then again they clearly were expecting to return to their camp at some point. Well, some of them got to return. Finally after the last corpse was dropped at the new dumping ground and the last of the loot tucked away I exhaled in relief. It’s a good thing I built that loot shed along with the new twiglings, but at this rate I'm gonna need to add shelves for some extra space.
Well, worse problems to have I suppose. I munch on a biscuit while examining my loot in person, only to find it tastes like sawdust and is actively trying to turn my mouth into a desert. I shove the rest of the biscuit into my mouth and finish it off quickly. It’s crap, but it's something, and something better than just drawing nutrition through a vine twenty four seven. I think I’ll go for a walk, I need to clear my head after today's activities. Or would it be yesterday’s activities? Whatever, I'm in no mood to think right now.
