There are too many wolves in this forest! I wipe the blood of my hands as best as I could. After the last few wolves I’m now caked in blood instead of dry mud. It started with the level four that popped out after my tail experimentation. It was easy enough to kill, it got stabbed by the tree branches no problem.

The second one was where I ran into problems. For the first time since coming here, I had to use the bathroom. So, I disconnected myself, grabbed some large leaves for toilet paper, and went a fair way outside my perception zone. While I was relieving myself, one of those wolf pups came out of nowhere and tried to rip my head off. I can’t get any peace and quiet in this damn woodland. At least in that moment I learned I can kill the things myself with a well-placed punch to the side of the head. After I was done cleaning the brains off my arms and torso I headed back to my pod to rest.

As I stepped back into the glade another wolf came charging at me from the forest. Since I was super low on mana I just caved its skull in too. Then, about two seconds later, its younger sibling came charging in, trying to avenge it and also got wrecked. My hands don’t even hurt, it’s crazy. I guess I’m putting that fifty-one strength to good use.

Still too many wolves in this forest, at least I haven’t run into another big one. Wait, where is the nearest tree? I need to knock on wood before.

“GROOOOOO”

Grey Timber Pup (Level:9)

OK, I opened myself up to that one. As I hold my head in my hands another small pup comes dashing out of the forest at full speed. This time on the opposite side of the glade from where the rest came from. I’m not going to skewer it with the trees. As gruesome as my punching the side of the head is, it’s effective. I also don’t have the mana at the moment to stab.

I keep my back to the pup as it dashes around my pod and makes a beeline for me. It takes this gesture as a reassurance of its victory and speeds up to pounce. I see its legs tense and its body lower closer to the ground. Its going to pounce, but so am I. As the wolf’s body leaves the ground, I spin myself around and pull my arms back and over my head, balling my hands together into a hammer. The wolf has about a full second of air time to realize its mistake. Which it does promptly, attempting to twist itself in the air to miss me. But it’s too late, it doesn’t have enough time or ability left to drastically change its trajectory.

With a sickening crunch I bring my balled fists down on the wolf’s left font shoulder. Leaving it no doubt broken and bloodied. The wolf yelps and turns to flee, but its speed is greatly limited by the destroyed shoulder. It manages to limp three steps back in the direction it came from before I’m upon it again. Bringing my right fist hard into the side of its head I put the poor thing out of its misery.

*Ding* You have leveled up!

Well, that was easy. Oh, great I got blood on my top, wait that’s old blood never mind. My glade is just littered with corpses at this point. The big wolf has some flowers starting to bloom from its corpse. Meanwhile the little wolf corpses are untouched, one of the early ones has a few roots digging up into it. Other than that, they are just smelling up the place. Hmm I’ve leveled up a few times, let's see what my status is looking like.

Twenty-three skill points, that’s what I’m talking about. Still, I don’t know if I should spend them or save them. I seem to be doing alright for now, but if I spend them now and get it wrong, I won’t be able to correct it. My debate over point spending is interrupted by a new presence within my perception field. This one didn’t announce itself like the others and it’s moving slowly. I zone in on it only to find to my shock, that it’s humanoid.
