Defeated: Black Mountain Wolf (Level: 35)
+82 EXP
Well, that was disappointing. I had one of the twiglings drag a deer close to the wolf and leave it under a tree to lure it in. My plan worked and it made a beeline for the corpse once it caught the scent. Once it got there it just started tearing into the corpse like it owned the damn thing, then I hit it from above. That was the disappointing part, it went down in one salvo. One set of stabs and it just flopped over, I was expecting more of a fight. Oh well, more exp and nutrition for me. I ended up having the corpses placed around my pod. Now, for the boring wait. It’s going to be a few days before I can even remotely start to do anything. Speaking of boring, I’m looking at my stats and something just feels off.

Oh right, I need to reapply my buffs! I quickly cast the spells, the mana regenerating just as quickly as it disappears thanks to the regen from being in my pod. Then I cast healing all over my body to get my health up to the new max

Yep, looks better, but something still feels off. I haven’t leveled up in a while, and I feel like I should have leveled up by now. Ehh, whatever, who knows what’s what with this damned system.
Then it hit, a giant wall of white blew into my area from up the valley. Snow storm, it was a snow storm. It's been calm all day and now out of nowhere a snowstorm is sweeping through. As fast as it arrived it enveloped everything, the winds howled, and my vision was cut down to a giant blur despite the fact I'm using magical clairvoyance bullshit to see with. I could still see everything, just not very well and I could only focus on a few inches at a time.
But that's not the worse part, no the worse part is the cold. I didn't feel cold before, probably the pod keeping me warm, but now it's struggling. I can feel it, slowly creeping in. The twiglings are no better off, slowly frosting over despite being docked at their stations. Oh this is going to be bad isnt it. The wind is so loud I can hear it whaling outside my pod with my actual ears. I hope this doesn't go on to long, or we might freeze to death.
Unfortunately all I can do is curl up and try to survive the bitter cold.
…………………………………..
Two hours later I'm still clattering my teeth inside my pod. The twiglings have lost half their health to the frost and while I haven't suffered hp damage yet I'm still fucking cold. Finally, just as quickly as it appeared, the tail end of the storm blasts through my area and out the other side, leaving a calm quiet Peace over the valley. Jesus, talk about freak weather patterns. Unfortunately, the damage caused by the storm becomes clearer as I take stock of my domain.
The corpse flowers that were up are now gone, snapped off at the stems by the winds after being made brittle by the cold. The good news is that they are already regrowing, but it's going to take a while given they are now under an additional two feet of snow. The three new corpses I had dragged in are also buried, they won't be of use to me for a while but they won't rot. Unfortunately, both me and the twiglings are buried under about four feet of snow. I could probably keep my head above powder if I stand on my toes, but the twigings are completely buried at their docking stations.
Uuuhhhgggg! I just built them too! Why did their have to be a freak ass winter storm, I was just getting on my feet! Now what am I gonna do? Everything is buried and nothing is gonna be able to dig out of this snow. That means I can't hunt anything because nothing will come through my area, and even if it did its not like the twiglings could help. Wait, everything is buried….
I remember a certain group of hibernating doglike monsters with bat wings. I didn't want to fight them before given the level disparity and how they might be able to get away or worse, go after me. But now it's different, now they're probably trapped under the snow. I turn my attention to their den, sure enough they are still sleeping. The walls and roof of the den are littered with tree roots, making it a giant kill zone for me to work with. Oh I like this, maybe this storm was as much of a blessing as it was a curse.
