As the sun starts to shine upon my pod the warmth of its rays awakens me. I uncurl myself with a stretch and a yawn. I do a quick look over my domain, the corpse flowers are starting to regrow, the dead animals are still buried and the cratacumbas are still dead in the den. Literally nothing changed last night aside from the corpse flowers growing a little.
Man, winter sucks. But there are still a few things I can do, like test buffs on the twiglings. I order my pod to open and slowly the sap starts to drain away. Strangely the air it's replaced with is warm. I can feel the cold outside but it seems manageable, until the petals start to open and a blast of cold air rushes in. Slowly the petals push down and compact the fresh snow until they are able to open fully, as they do more and more warm air is replaced by the frigid bite of its colder cousin from outside.
I'm not cold enough to be shivering despite the fact I'm naked and it feels like negative four degrees outside, perks of being a monster I guess. I go to shake out my hair only to find it feels still, and a slight nip of the cold is biting at my head. Upon further inspection I realize that the left over sap in my hair has already frozen. Well then, guess it actually is way below freezing then. And here I'm only uncomfortable, not even freezing.
Enough thought loitering on the cold though, I call a twigling over. I hear and watch it pop off its base station and start flailing about through the snow as it attempts to make its way over to me. It's somewhat making progress, the top stuff is light and fluffy and easily knocked away but seems to collapse in easily, bottom layer however, is older and more compacted making It harder to push through. Those two combined make it so the twigling has trouble trudging through because anything it digs our gets filled back in. But slowly it makes its way over to me and eventually manages to push through the wall of snow surrounding my pod, managing to spill a bunch onto the center petals in the process. Well great now I got a clean that up.
I ignore the mess it made and walk over to the twigling, who is now my test subject. First thing I do is cast the body reinforcement spell, a familiar green ball appears in my hand. I look at the twigling then shove the green ball into its narrow excuse for a torso. I think the spell takes as the entirety of the twigling is enveloped in a faint green glow that quickly fades. I pull up the twiglings stats and have a look.

Success! I call the other twigling over so I can give it a buff as well. In the mean time I activate my healing spell and hold my hand to the twigling. It starts to regain health, slowly climbing up until it hits its new max.

Yes! But damn is it going to be expensive to cast buffs on lots of twiglings. I wonder if there is a way to cast while I'm podded up. Well I can cast on myself while podded but I don't think I can cast it on the twiglings because it's a touch spell. I'd have to find a way to make it a range spell, or maybe I could do like a ranged touch attack kinda thing? I don't know enough about the spells, skills, or how this system works to be able to even start figuring that out. Maybe I can get to it eventually, but that's not going to happen right now I think.
Well, that was the entirety of my list for today. Just now twigling two bursts through the snow and stands at attention at the edge of my pod, sending even more snow cascading into the middle part. God damn it you little shits that's my house, stop making a mess of it. I apply the buff and healing to twigling two then order them both to scamper back off to their base stations. After that, it's just me, the snow, and my empty itinerary.
Well, I guess I can play in the snow. I reach out and put my hand to the cold white fluff walling in my pod. It's feels cool, but not exactly cold, I'd best equate it to grabbing a cold can of soda. I grab a handful and start shaping it into a small round white ball. Only when I'm done shaping it and staring at it in my hand do I realize I have no one to throw my snowball at. I small pang of loneliness hits me but I push it away. If I let myself get down I may never get back up. Instead I turn my attention to the twigling sitting at its station a little over fourteen feet away. I can barely see the top part of its head from where I'm standing on the edge of my pod.
I take aim and release my compacted ball of snow at the twiggy bastard, this is for putting snow in my pod jackboot. It sails through the air over the snow, then unceremoniously lands a foot to the left of my intended target. Well, crap. Undeterred I grab another handful of snow and form a ball, then toss that one at my uncaring minion as well. My second attempt goes only slightly better than my first, landing half a foot to the right of the twigling. Drats, still bad at throwing things. I grab a third snowball and throw it at the twigling, this time it overshoots and lands behind it.
Now I'm getting a bit upset, I'm not that bad at throwing. I resolve to practice throwing until I can hit the twigling consistently, it's not like I have anything better to do anyways. So I throw another ball, and another, and another and another ……
I only stop when I realize that I'm not seeing where I'm grabbing with my actual eyes anymore, instead subconsciously using my domain vision. Wow, I don't even know how long it's been dark. And in all that time, and the hundreds of snowballs I've thrown, I've only managed to hit the twigling about four times! Four bloody times! There is definitely something else going on here, no way I'm that bad at aiming. I bet it's some system bullshit. Ah whatever, it's late so I'm going to bed. I toss the final snowball I'm holding off at the twigling casually, not expecting it to even land nearby, then turn and head to the center of my pod.
General Skill Available: Throwing Proficiency
…. Yea, that figures.
