The trio chatted comfortably about life. Robin leaned back, glancing at the softly glowing lights in the garden, his mind drifting back to something old man Liam had mentioned earlier during their visit to the underground lab.
"Hey, Oliver," Robin said, breaking the flow of conversation. "What was that synchronization stuff old man Liam was talking about? I think I get the basics, but could you explain it like before? Really simply."
Oliver adjusted his posture, a faint smile forming as if recalling an old lesson. “Of course, sir. Synchronization, in simple terms, is about one’s compatibility with the elements. Everyone has the potential to learn magic, but whether someone can control a particular element depends on how synchronized they are with it.”
Robin raised an eyebrow, thinking, Just as I thought.
Oliver continued, his tone steady and precise, like a teacher explaining a vital subject. “Here in Arora, anyone can theoretically learn any type of magic. But how effective that magic is, or how easily you can master it, all depends on synchronization. There are two main types of synchronization: major and minor. Major synchronization means you’re strongly aligned with a specific element, allowing you to wield it much more efficiently. Minor synchronization means you can still control other elements, but not as powerfully or easily.”
Robin nodded slowly, the concept beginning to sink in. “So, how many elements can someone synchronize with?”
Oliver paused for a moment, organizing his thoughts. “ Different world have different rules, most people in Arora have two major synchronized elements, sometimes more if they’re especially talented. And minor synchronization varies depending on your learning capacity and element combination.”
Andrew, who had been quietly listening, chimed in with a straightforward answer. “It’s kind of like being born with a knack for something. Some people just have that natural talent.”
“Right,” Oliver agreed, . “Major elements are limited in number—things like water, fire, earth, air, and so on. But minor elements can be anything. They're infinite and often combinations of major elements. For example, if someone has major synchronization with both water and fire, they could create and control steam as a minor element. Minor synchronizations allow for creative magic, and no two people have the exact same combination. Also, not every element is equally common—some are rare, like light, time, or space. Meanwhile, elements like fire, earth, and water are more common."
He continued, “The teleportation magic you experienced in the past is a minor element. It's a mixture of space and time elements. People who can use teleportation magic are limited because they need to have space and time as their major elements. A few thousand years ago, this would’ve been a big deal, but now, with technology, such magic is more common. Machines can even perform rare magic nowadays."
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
"That’s how it works for common people, though," Oliver added. "Big families or clans across the universe often have signature elements tied to their bloodlines unique elements only they can control. For example, the William family has a unique element called Hell's Inferno, an advanced form of fire magic. It’s the unique element of their dragon ancestor."
Also If someone is strong enough and has a unique element, their children will inherit that unique element."
Robin’s mind raced, imagining the possibilities. “So, what about you two? What elements are you synchronized with?”
Oliver’s expression softened. “My major synchronizations are with earth and air. That’s why I’m so good with anything involving grounding or stabilization, but I can also manipulate air currents for more precise movements. My minor synchronizations? Metal, wood, and sound.”
Andrew, never one for long explanations, shrugged and said, “Fire and lightning are my majors. Minor ones are heat, smoke, and wind.”
Robin leaned back, processing the information. It wasn’t just about magic; it was about how deeply one was tied to the world around them. Everything was connected, from the energy in the air to the elements that made up the universe.
"Interesting," Robin muttered. Oliver continued, "But synchronization isn’t everything. Even someone with rare elements can be outmatched by someone with larger aether storage and more control over their elements."
“its measure of one’s magical strength, i thik professor already explained you this” Oliver said. “Most people are born with a fixed amount of aether, set by fate. Increasing it requires breakthroughs in magic, but it’s not easy. Not everyone could get a breakthrough. One of my classmates from the academy had light and earth as his major elements. He could’ve been a great healer, but his aether storage was so low, and he never tried to push for a breakthrough. So now, he’s just a regular pharmacist.” Oliver sighed.
Robin felt sorry for the guy. “How do you measure strength, then? Is there a scale or something?” all these magic talk trigger memory of the earthling. He could tell all these magic stuff kinda similar to all the fantasy novel he read .
“In the universe, strength is everything,” Oliver replied. “Different parts of the universe measure it differently. Some use levels, others use classes. It all depends on where you are.”
"In Arora, magic users are generally classified into stages. One starts as a novice. If they can control their magic, they are called an expert. When an expert achieves full mastery, they are known as a master. Breaking through the master stage brings one to the grandmaster level. Most people could never cross this level.
In the world most strongest combatants are of grandmaster level.
After that comes the sage stage, and the final stage is the demigod. However, there is a level above demigod, which, as you might have guessed, is called god. After demigod stage these people are rare they live in sacculations. Without a derestrict cause most of the time they never participate in fight. Even if they do they do it in isolation . Even a aftermath of a demigods attack can destroy a world.
But as I’ve said before, the universe is infinite, and there are beings even stronger than gods. These beings have no classification. As I mentioned earlier, mysterious entities fall into this unknown category."
"Also the more you progress the more your life force will become that means you'll live more and your aura will get stronger"
"Let me share a open secret that only members and staff of the William family know: the current head of the William family, Leah William, has already reached the god level."
Robin was stunned to his core. He had spoken with a god? That explained why his body had felt anxious and why the air felt so heavy without him realizing it when he looked at her. He gulped down the glass of water in front of him.
"So, what level are you guys?" he asked.
With a smile Oliver replied "I'm currently at master level and as for Andrew i think he's at grandmaster level. You'll be surprised to know that Andrew is the youngest grandmaster in our army in this generation "
"That's correct " Andrew replied without showing any emotion.
