Getting enhancement

Robin was admiring the city view from the car when Oliver suddenly said, "Sir, I've sent you the list of available housing in the terminal. You can select any of them."

Robin tapped his bracelet, which opened up a screen. Now that he thought about it, the terminal looked and functioned like a mobile phone. He opened the pop-up window with the mail icon. There were several listings of apartments and houses for sale.

Robin scrolled through the list of properties, surprised at the variety of options available. Each one was filled with facilities. There were apartments in skyscrapers, houses in the city, small mansions, tree houses, and even beach houses. However, most of them were in crowded places and required a lot of maintenance staff.

After scrolling for a while, Robin’s eyes settled on a small mansion. By William family standards, it was small, but it was as large as a palace. The mansion was located near the edge of the city and forest. It was a two-story building with a grand ballroom and a large dining area. Behind the mansion was a training area and a shooting range.

Robin gave it another thought. Although he could choose a luxurious apartment in the city, for his status, he would need to host some of his family members in the future. From his experience reading novels and comics, he knew that aristocrats like extravagant things.

Without further hesitation, Robin told Oliver his choice.

"Good choice, sir. I'll call the main family house to send servants and guards. Do you need to add any additional functions?"

"Yea, add bathroom similar to the mansion and bed similar to the guest room bad. The house has a backyard, pick a Gardener for fress stuff. Also if you can buy some forest behind the house ." Although it sound greedy, previous him would choose these he would've choose three bedroom appointment but he couldn't. He had a image to keep in this world.

Oliver nodded in agreement.

Feeling satisfied with his decision, Robin asked Oliver, "What's the schedule now?"

"You can rest, or you can visit the biotech institute for the enhancement."

"Enhancement sounds like some weird medical experiment, but old man Liam said to do it, so it shouldn't be that bad."

"Let's get the enhancement done. The sooner I'm done with these things, the sooner I'll be free."

"We'll head to the biotech institute, sir."

"By the way, have you guys gone through these enhancements?" Robin asked.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"Yes, sir. Every soldier undergoes enhancement. The more merit you gain, the more enhancements you can apply for" Andrew gave a straight answer.

"Yes, all the servants from the house go through enhancements. Even everyone in Arora gets enhancements, but the quality differs. If your social and economic situation is good, you can get the best, most up-to-date enhancements. If you're poor, you might get them from local clinics. Even most of the slum people are genetically enhanced, and there's also a black market for that." Oliver added.

As the car sped through the busy city, they soon reached the Biotek Institute.

"We're here " said Oliver.

As Robin stepped into the sleek, glass-fronted Biotek Institute, he felt a strange mix of anxiety. The air inside was cool and clinical, the walls lined with bright, floating panels are everywhere. White-coated technicians moved through the hallways, guiding people to different sections. Peoples from verious ages are waiting in the big hall room for their turns for consulting section. This was where Arora’s elite came to sharpen their physical and mental abilities.

Although there are people waiting for their number the group went straight to the reception.

The reception android greeted them at the entrance, its voice smooth but still has a robotic tone. "Welcome, sir. Please follow me"

Robin, accompanied by Oliver and Andrew, followed the android down a series of corridors. The building was spotless, with a faint scent of sterilizing agents in the air. They passed several labs, each filled with advanced technology and holographic projections of verious models. People were lying in chambers, connected to complex machines, undergoing different enhancements.

They arrived at a private chamber. Inside was a large cylindrical pod made of transparent material, surrounded by various instruments and screens. A team of doctors and biotechnicians were waiting.

"Mr. William, we were informed about your coming, you’re receiving the top-tier enhancement currently we have. This will include neural upgrades for enhanced cognitive function, skeletal reinforcement, muscle optimization, and genetic fine-tuning. It’s a comprehensive process designed to give you peak physical and mental performance, and also immunity from diseases" the lead doctor explained with a polite smile.

Robin nodded, taking a deep breath. "Sounds intense."

"It is, but rest assured, the process is safe. There will be some pain, but with your enhanced tolerance, you should be able to handle it."

Robin climbed into the pod, lying down on a cushioned surface. The glass cover slid down over him, enclosing him in a sterile environment. He could see the various readouts on the screens as the system scanned his body.

"Commencing neural enhancement," the system announced in a monotone voice.

The first wave of pain was sharp but manageable. He felt something probing his brain, enhancing his neural pathways. Information seemed to flood his mind, and his senses sharpened, every detail around him becoming clearer. He felt a heightened awareness of his body.

"Next, muscle optimization and skeletal reinforcement."

A searing heat pulsed through his muscles and bones. His limbs twitched involuntarily as the enhancements took hold. His muscle fibers were strengthened and refined at the cellular level, while his bones were reinforced , making them both stronger and lighter. Robin gritted his teeth, fighting through the sensation. His heart pounded in his chest as his body recalibrated itself.

"Genetic fine-tuning in progress," the system intoned.

This part was more subtle. Robin felt a deep warmth spreading through him as his genes were carefully adjusted for optimal health, longevity, and immune function. It was as if every cell in his body was being upgraded, tuned to perfection.

Finally, after what felt like hours, the process came to an end. The glass cover lifted, and Robin sat up, feeling slightly disoriented but… different. He looked down at his hands, flexing his fingers. His body felt lighter, yet more powerful. His mind was clear, and there was a new sharpness to his vision. He could breath more freely from before.

"How do you feel?" Oliver asked, standing nearby.

Robin took a moment, adjusting to his new senses, " Better."

"So the main question, did my aether storage capacity increase?"

The doctor looked at the screen on his desk and said with a polite tone. "It increases from before"

Robin can tell just by looking at doctor's face the answer was not that much. " So can't you guys do something about it"

"We can but the procedure is too risky, it has very little chance of succeeding. Moreover if the procedure failed it will cripple you for life."

"Oh! I see."

Robin burried his hope of becoming a warlock, and thought to himself who need magic I'm rich now. I don't need to take these unnecessary risk.

"So doctor give me a brief of my current situation " robin asked

The doctor smiled. " You’ve received the best enhancements Arora can offer. Your strength, agility, intelligence, and overall resilience have been significantly increased."

Robin nodded, slowly getting up from the pod.
