First venture

The duo walked for a bit and reached the armory in the basement of the military compound. The place was under tight security. Officers and guards in blue uniforms watched over the area, and various types of cameras and surveillance devices were installed everywhere. They reached the office of the officer in charge of the armory. The man was old, with a beard and scars on his face that showed his experience on the battlefield. He stood up, bowed respectfully, and said, "How can I help you, sir?"

"Did Roderick inform you about me because nobody stoped me in my way here?" Robin asked.

"No, sir, but I've worked for the family since I was 17. I can tell you are a descendant of the family."

"Is it that obvious?" Robin was surprised.

"The descendants of the family have a unique trait: their black hair and reddish-brown eyes. Although many others people from the universe share these traits, they don’t have the balls to come here."

"Good observation. Can we look around the armory for a bit? I need some items to take with me."

"Whatever you wish, sir," said the old man.

Robin and Jackson stepped into the armory, and the heavy metallic door closed behind them with a loud thud. The room was vast, a labyrinth of steel and stone that extended far beyond what its modest entrance suggested. The walls were lined with rows of sleek, modern weapons like pulse rifles, plasma cannons, and energy blades glowing faintly in their charging racks. Each weapon seemed to hum with a dormant power, the kind that could level entire buildings or cut through the thickest armor.

But it wasn’t just the advanced technology that caught Robin’s attention. Interspersed among the high-tech weaponry were artifacts of a different kind—ancient and mystical. Swords forged in fire and enchanted with runes, staffs that crackled with elemental energy, and shields that shimmered with an ethereal light, offering protection from both physical and magical attacks. These were relics of a ancient era, carefully preserved and maintained by the William family for generations.

In the center of the armory stood the true marvels of the William legacy which head started their space conquest: war machines. Towering sentinels of steel and magic, these constructs combined cutting-edge technology with ancient enchantments. Their eyes glowed with a menacing red light, and their limbs were equipped with a mix of ballistic weaponry and arcane projectors. There were also more traditional machines tanks with shimmering force fields, drones that moved silently through the air, and combat suits that could turn a soldier into a one-person army.

Difference room lined with various crates and chests, each containing unique items with specific purposes. Robin noticed a set of rings that, when worn, could enhance physical abilities, and cloaks woven from some otherworldly fabric that rendered the wearer invisible to both sight and sensors. There were also orbs that pulsed with a deep blue light, capable of casting powerful spells when activated.

At one end of hall there is a room whic is a workstation where a holographic display floated above the table, showing schematics of weapons and machines in various stages of design or repair. The old man walked over to it, waving a hand to bring up a specific set of blueprints.

"These," he said, pointing to the hologram, "are the latest additions to our arsenal. A blend of magic and technology, designed to adapt to any combat situation. Your need your aether to activate them, sir."

Robin nodded, impressed by the sheer scale and variety of the armory. "We'll i couldn't use them i think,"

Oliver said before robin could utter any word.

"Do you have any items that doesn't need aether to activate that have stored aether"

"Of course, " the old man replied, he looked around for a bit and gave robin a ring and a brooch. "The ring can protect you from any magic attack and the brooch can warn you from any chemical or poison attack. Anything else?"

robin looked at Oliver. Oliver gave a nod robin understood what he signaled.

"That's all for now, thank you"

"No problem sir, glad to help"the old man replied

"Let’s move, sir" said Oliver.

Robin walked behind them.

As they left the armory, the old man watched them go, he thought to himself the young man he looked like someone he knows but he couldn't connect the dots properly.

He blamed his eyes and age and move to his office.

The road that led to the main gate from the barracks was breathtaking. The path was lined with towering tree. The ground was covered in lush, deep green moss that cushioned footsteps, making the walk eerily silent.

Scattered throughout were sculptures that seemed almost alive, The air was filled with a faint, sweet fragrance, a mix of the flowers. Robin spotted human gardeners and machines working together with harmony. Although this garden wasn’t as grand as the main one, it was still beautiful.

As Robin and Oliver approached the mansion’s towering gate, they saw a man standing there. He looked young and handsome, Robin thought , He looks just like one of those main characters in a

manga.

When they reached the gate, the man gave a sharp salute. "Good afternoon, sir," the man said with a serious expression.

"Why does this man look so serious?" Robin thought to himself.

"Morning. So, you're Andrew?"

"Sir, yes sir. From now on, I'll be in charge of your security," Andrew responded with a straight face.

"I'll be in your care," Robin said with a smile. "By the way, how long have you

been waiting here?"

"For one hour, 12 minutes, and 56 seconds," Andrew replied.

" Is this guy serious?" Robin thought, incredulous. He's been standing here all this time while we were at the armory?

"Why, though? Oliver could've called you using the terminal," Robin said

"Captain Roderic asked me to wait for you here, so I waited," Andrew said with a straight face.

"Is this guy for real? Did I make a mistake? Should I change my guard? Now I know why Captain Roderic warned me about him," Robin thought.

Sensing the awkwardness, Oliver took over the conversation. "Master Robin, what kind of vehicle would you like to take out?"

"I don’t know anything about vehicles, dude. Just something that's not as fast as the one Deputy Butler Jackson made me ride," Robin joked.

Oliver pressed something on his terminal, and a vehicle rose from the underground parking facility. The scene surprised Robin. He had seen underground parking back on Earth, but this was on another level. The ground split in half, and a rack of cars emerged.

One of them floated towards them.

"This place isn’t good for my heart," Robin muttered. "If I get surprised by every little thing, I’ll die from a heart attack."

As the vehicle approached, Robin finally got a good look. It was sleek, hovering just above the ground, with no wheels in sight. Its exterior shimmered, reflecting the city's neon lights in a liquid-like surface that rippled as it moved. The body was made of a shiny material. It had no visible engine, but rather a smooth underbelly where antigravity pads emitted a soft, glowing aura.

With Oliver's signal, the car doors opened. The doors slid open seamlessly without a sound, and inside, the cabin was minimalist yet luxurious. Soft light emanated from the walls, as Robin approached. The seats, molded from a material that seemed to shift in shape, were designed to fit any being, human or otherwise. What caught Robin's attention most was the control system there were no steering wheels or gas or break pedals. Instead, a holographic screen floated in the air, responding to the flicks of a driver’s fingers, each movement delicately controlling the car’s speed and direction with perfect precision.

Robin sat in the back while Oliver and Andrew took the front.

"Do you need to drive this thing i thought everything was automatic?" Robin asked.

Oliver, with a hint of excitement, replied, "It has both automatic and manual drive functions. I prefer to drive myself;I don’t trust AI."

" This cunning fella is using me to fulfill his hobby," Robin looked at Olivers glowing face with amusement.

As they left the mansion gate, Robin watched the various facilities around the estate pass by. After a while, they exited the huge transparent dome that protected the estate. The more he saw the dome the more he could see this grand structure. He saw some officer here and there.

The road beyond the dome was something else . It wove through a dense forest, massive trees towering above on either side. The branches formed an intricate web overhead, their bark faintly glowing, and leaves shimmering with verious colors. Occasionally, strange creatures run around , their eyes reflecting the vehicle's soft glow as they quickly disappeared into the shadows.

As they moved deeper into the forest, Robin noticed the subtle shift in the air ,cleaner, cooler, carrying the earthy scent of moss mixed with something unfamiliar but pleasant. The trees thinned as the road curved, revealing beautiful view of the distant city.
