A woman cries as a man shouts, all while I try to find my way around the room. Big blobs converge on each other, I fall.
I sit amongst the rubble of Houston's blobby buildings and a splotches of red. The heat from above burns my skin. A stinging pain on my chest, my vision's even worse. Gunfire and screams, blobs screaming and running away from something. Two shadows run away from me, even with my tinier hands and cries. My head swells on the inside, it spreads like a fire running wild through my body. A glowing orange light touches me and I spring up and open my eyes,
Mama smiles, "Bad dream?" I shake my head, "It's fine." My head's swelling again. "You don't sound fine." I shake my head and smile, "Is the eye doctor open?" She sighs, "Alright." A strong urge to hit something invades my mind. I slam my fist against the floor and the feeling gets swept away by the pain, "Jack. I told you to quit doing that." I groan as she takes my hand, "I know." I let her tug me by the hand and she stops to put a jacket on me, zip me up. "We'll be back!" El shouts, "Be careful!" A giant pink blob looks down the stairs at us, Rose shouts, "Can I come!?" Mama sighs, "We can't risk it." The pink blob makes a disappointed pout and then she gets pushed away by the brown walls.
Mama opens the door, a gust of wind yanks the invisible rain against us. We push ourselves outside to a dark blue-scale set of blobs. I look up and the blobs get pushed to the sides, clear dark clouds above us, rigid lit buildings in the distance feel like they're a block up from us.
As we get closer, I get so eager to see the blobs slide and rearrange into their right places. She yanks me as I pull too far. She then shouts above the rain, "We're here!" We get inside and the doctor calls out, "Hey kid." Mama leads me back with him, "Your assistant is twenty minutes away." She sits me down and he sighs, "Jack? One-" The slide clicks and the blobs are now bigger. "Or two?" "One." He switches it back, then slides more stuff on. "What do you see?" "Big black and white blobs. They're smaller now, still big." He gives a confused tone, "Blobs?" "Yeah, blobs." His chair creaks, "Explain to me what you see normally." "Really far away, everything is rigid, as I get closer, they start to blob." He leans in with another creak, "How far?" Mama cuts in, "He can see miles away, clearly." He laughs, "Miles?" We both look in his general direction, "You're telling me, you can see clearly, that far?"

Holy crap. This kid really is a demon. I rub my face. I can get in so much trouble. On the other hand, this could give me recognition. I could sell books off this kid alone. If he can actually see that far- "Yeah, he can see that far." That complicates things. I look at the time, "Miss? How long until she's in?" "Call me Mama." I nod, "Mama." She smiles, "Five minutes, we should go." I help her up out her seat and she pinches me lightly, "So strong." I smile as she grabs Jack's hand. They walk out and I flip the open sign and check the clock again. It's been more than five minutes. I shrug and start cutting my neighbor's new lenses. The door swings open as I start the second lens, "You're late." She sighs, "But I'm on time." I look up at the clock and smile, "How's the boyfriend?" She walks behind me to get ready, "I think he wants more." The cutting tool stops cutting, I take off the end, "That's good. Make sure to take it slow." She walks in, I turn around as she hangs her coat, "I can't take it slow, he's a catch." I slip on a new head and start cutting, she leans over me and watches. "You sold a pair?" I press my lips together, "Yeah."
