3 Gun Game

Light shines through the curtains as Carter holds Rose at gunpoint. "Stop." barely comes out of Jean's trembling lips as Rose pleads me to save her. "Well, I'm going to leave, come on Rose." I take a step in front of her and his eyes open wide, I squint as his lips don't move, yet he shouts, "Obey!" I raise a brow, "Obey!" He jerks the gun to my chest. "God damn it!" The gun goes off and Jean screams. I collapse onto my back and they crowd me.

The sound of Carter's footprints fade and I push myself up. I look down at the bullet, grasp it with two fingers and twist it out the vest. "Mama?" She grabs her cane, "We need to run, now." A gunshot goes off and she stops trying to push herself up. Everyone tenses up as I count the seconds.

Two seconds later, Jean gasps as the window above the sink shatters, the table recoils at the sudden force, then then a crack off the kitchen tile. Mama knocks the tile, "How don't I see him?!" I crouch over to Jean and grab her quivering arms, cross them over her chest, "Jean, you're ok."

I turn to Rose, she stands up with her fists clenched. Jack looks up at her, "Rose, what's wrong?" She looks into my eyes with a serious face, "Make them stop, Norbie." I plant my butt down and look down at the tile. She's never spoken like that before. I look up, "You shouldn't say things like that." She stomps one foot forward, "But-!" I shout, "No buts!" I reach into the cabinet and pull out a steel pan. Jack tilts his head, "What're you doing?" I get in between everyone and hold it up, "Getting eyes on." Another gunshot goes off and I quickly lower the pan. A bullet whizzes over us and smacks through the kitchen wall, then another smack against wood from another room.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

I quickly lift it back up and scan the reflection, his scope reflects the sun back at us. "Found him, up on the hill." Jean 's voice cracks, "Go kill him!" I scoff, "We go outside, he kills us. He wants us to stay put." Jack grumbles, "How far is he?" I point to him, "No Jack. Don't even try it!" "But he's giving me two seconds to dodge!" I squint at him. He counted? Why? I sigh, "Yes, but what if he decides to shoot where you're going to be?" He pauses as I continue, "Plus he can-" I shout, "Everyone get low!" A series of gunshots, one after the other whizz through the cabinets, I jump as a bullet cracks in between my legs, then it cracks into the ceiling. I shout, "Plus a bullet from a sniper can go through wood walls like it was nothing! He can just shoot where he thinks you are!"

Jack jumps up and fires six shots out the window as the sniper takes another shot. He dives and takes my rifle upstairs. I shout, "Jack, no!" I bang against the tile, another shot goes off, then I push up into a sprint. A shot goes off as a burst goes off upstairs. I swing around the steps as a bullet whizzes past me. Another bullet flies past as feathers from a pillow explode up into the air. I swoop behind Jack as the sniper fires another shot and squeeze his neck with my bicep. He drops the gun and grabs at my arm. I grunt at the burn in my bicep, "You're just wasting bullets!" He goes limp and I close the blinds. Another shot goes off, I lay down and pull Jack by the collar, "I just had to train abs yesterday!"
