"Neil?" I chamber another round, "Shut up." Carter gets on the line, "Are they still there?" I smirk, "You still trying that stare thing?" He growls, "Enough with the sarcasm!" I aim at the young girl's shadow. "Yeah, my eyes are getting tired. Send them in already." He shouts and my rifle goes to the right.
Light shines through the shattered windows and blinds. A gunshot goes off, everyone gasps as Jean shakes. The bullet doesn't even hit near us. I wipe my face and groan, "Jean, for Christ sake." Rose pouts, "We're all scared, Norbert." Norbert? No Norbie? Jack glares at me, "I still can't believe you choked me!" I scoff, "We already talked about this, kid." Mama rubs her neck, "Carter's calling them in." Jean trembles, "We're going to die." I glare at her and she shuts up.
I sigh, "Alright. I've got a plan." They all look my way as I continue, "Jack, I need you to draw his fire." Jean looks up, "He's just a kid!" With a glare, she finally locks eyes with me, "That kid ran through the house, going toe to toe with a sniper. Something you're too afraid to do." She grabs at her heart, "I want us to live!" I huff at her and Jack sighs, "So just play bullet ping pong like before?" I chuckle, "Hate to say it Jean, Kid's warlike, like me. I have a sniper downstairs, now shoot at him again." I step on the rifle with my boot, "Just try to aim your shots, don't waste them." I kick it over and he nods. He unloads, then loads the gun, then chambers a round in. I can't help but smile, kid read my damn mind. "Single shot bursts kid. Have fun. Shoot to kill." He jerks up and runs to the living room while I run to basement. The firefight begins as I set up the rifle. I sigh as five bullets is all we've got.

I rush up the steps and Mama shouts, "Trucks are coming!" I set my pistol on the ground and kick it. It slides to a stop between Jean's legs. She shakes her head at me with wide eyes. "Not again." I run upstairs and set up the gun. The sniper's gun goes off and I sit down just in case. Nothing yet. I break one of the shades so I can get a good view out. The transport trucks stop outside and soldiers storm out.
And just like that, another gunshot, I duck and a bullet whizzes through my window. The impact forces me to drop the rifle. I get down and the scope's broken. I bang on the floor, "Shit!" I run downstairs and set the rifle on the table, "Jack! Get in here!" He comes in and I slide off the broken scope. He sets down the rifle and I hold out the rifle. I guide his hands into position, showing him how to work it as a soldier gets on a megaphone.
I point to Jean, "Anyone comes in here, you shoot them dead! Jack, you have five shots to take that sniper out or we're dead!" He looks down, then his face makes a stern glare. He kneels and looks out the window, up the hill. Jean screams as Jack's sniper booms out a bullet. The sniper shoots back, yet Jack sits still. "Jack, Move!" The bullet whizzes past, missing him. He moves away and looks up at me, "Kill the ones out front!"
