Gunshots whizz past, soldiers shout as Mama shouts out her door, "Two down!" I drive the forklift to peek in, they open fire as I stop. I clench my teeth as bullets ping off the forklift's frame. Pulling the trigger, the bullets spread out wildly as I struggle to control the recoil. I stop and there's plenty more down. A bullet pings across the dashboard and I duck down. Countless more ping off and scape the air above me. Mama shouts at me, but I can't hear over the stream of bullets. The speakers cut on again as I hug the forklift's seat for dear life, "Screw your friends! I'm coming for you, Scott!" Mama shouts, "Scott!" I grit my teeth.
Looking up at the ceiling with ears covered, I pray for it to get quiet. Counting doesn't help, my mind immediately drifts, when will the Demon get here!? We have to go. We have to go! Now! I grip my heart as the gunfire stops, how can I just sit here?! I need to move! A quick small flash comes from down the hall, then bullets whizz over my head. The gunfire starts up again, their focus is off me! Springing up, I grab the machine gun and take aim. We have to go, now! I shoot in short bursts and they quickly take cover. Mama shouts, "There's too many!" I pull the trigger as they spring up, my skins tenses up as the gun clicks and the belt falls out the gun. I leap down as a bullet hits my back. I fall down and the wind knocks out of me. I gasp for air as Jack keeps shooting at them. Squinting, something catches my eye, the section of wall just out of sight of the hangar. A door that doesn't actually exist, at least on paper. After mustering up enough air to stand, I lift my shirt past my shoulder and press my shoulder to the wall. To my surprise, the wall opens up, my eyes widen to a lone switch with a skull and crossbones on it, "Suffocate hangar." I gulp. I rush to the forklift and reverse it. This ship is built by dead men. They died for seeing too much. These men I'm killing, is this a mercy? If hell is real, will I end up going there? After making the sign of the cross, I grab the switch and pull it. I take a step back, the wall closes up, then the airlock doors slide down without any resistance.
Mama walks up shouting, "Lasal is fighting Carter, Jean is driving here now with Markus with a f-" Her demeanor suddenly changes as Rose clings to her leg, "What did you do?" I bow my head, "I killed them." She shakes her head, "You men are scary." Tilting my head, she continues, "You just kill so easily." And here I wanted to not be a pushover. I wanted to be accepted. I didn't want all this. The doors open back up as Jean and Markus pull up. Jack walks over, shaking in his skin with his gun in hand. I squint, "You ok?" He just smiles, "Of course." Mama tuts.
We drive up to the dropship, Jean drags Markus, who seems to be in a trance. "Is he ok?" She nods with puffy eyes. Grabbing hold of him, we both drag him into the dropship. Mama looks up, both her and Markus talk at the same time, "He's coming. We have to go." We all just end up staring at each other. Finally, Jean tuts, "None of us know how to fly." Markus shakes his trance away, "I know h-" Mama interrupts, "Something's off." We all turn, "There are more troops and they're not coming to kill us. There aren't any explosives in here. I made absolutely sure." They all turn to me, "He's going to shoot us out of the sky." Ripping off the broken bulletproof vest, I straighten my back and roll my shoulders up. I start marching and Mama shouts, "Don't!! We'll-" I growl, "If I'm not back in thirty or they start coming for you, take the dropship out!" She yells, "Catch!" I grip the radio midair and jack it into my headphones.

I bolt out of the ship, "What you are doing is insane, Scott." "Like I give a damn." She sighs as I grab for a doorknob, "A soldier is waiting inside that door with a gun." I raise my gun to the wooden door, "Left. Now up. Shoot." I pull the trigger and she gags, "He's dead." I open the door and the poor guy's just lying with a death grip on his rifle. Really hoped it was some cruel prank. I steal his bloody body armor and rifle. I shut my eyes and close them tight, "Are you sure you can handle this?" I have to handle it. "If I don't make it back, look for my sister. Lucy Crawford." Again, Carter comes on the speakers, "I know a cheater when I see one, Scott! Even cheaters get caught. Give up and Lucy will survive. Your parents? They will die. You've caused too much trouble!" Shut up, you bastard! "Scott, calm down!" I growl, "Shut up!" "He's moving everyone to the Helm! You can't- Wait."
I smile wide, "You're running the wrong way." "I'm not stupid." Again with Carter on the speakers, "You little rat, you're clearly going to the reactor room. Right, that's where Hayley is. She was a tough bitch. Too bad she's missing a heart!" I stop and look into a camera, "You will pay! You hear me!?" "There's too many inside the reactor room! Use-" I shout at the top of my lungs, "Don't you reveal that!" There's a reason we have so many blind spots in the cameras, it's for the doors. Pressing my shoulder to the door, it opens up. Screens of the reactor room, their controls, details. I shake my head, "O'Malley, you crazy old man." The door closes behind me as I sit down. "I'm going to enjoy having a long talk with you, Scott! Such spirit. You are too fun a rat to leave my maze!" "Radio silence, Mama." I tape a recorder to the microphone in here, then leave. The door shuts and I walk back. I smirk with a remote in hand. "You are going to regret crossing me, Carter."
Peeking around the corner, the army waits outside the hangar doors. They get really agitated by the sight of me. I turn and bullets ping off the corner and whizz past. With the remote close to my chest, "Mama! Door! And cycle airlock, timed at two minutes! Also cover your ears in ten!" I smile as I press the button, the speakers cut on and they all drop their guns, covering their ears. The hangar door slowly rises as I turn the corner. With one step, I hold down the trigger. Before they could even turn to raise their guns, a bright loud spray of bullets come from the hangar, the machine gun on the dropship tears through the soldiers. After lowering the gun and making the sign of the cross, I tip toe past their bodies. Here's hoping I did it right.
Carter laughs, looking out the helm as his men clack away at the computers, "This one will make a great soldier." I can't help but grab at the metal he lodged inside my chest, "He's going to make it out of your maze." Carter smiles, "I'd say it's fifty-fifty." My heart ticks away like a clock as it dawns on me, "You never wanted to kill him." He smirks, "He can't run forever. Just like you, he can be controlled." The small transport ship gets locked onto. "Orders, sir?" He smiles wide, "Fire." O'Malley comes onto the main screen, "This is MY ship, you bastards. You shall never have full control over her." Carter growls to a scream as I squint. But O'Malley's- Did he do it before he- But we used that to take down that infected man on Martus. Without it- This is merely a transport ship.
