As I swim down to follow the long trail of blood, something surges in my head. Something in me wants out, something powerful with vicious potential. The poor soul with black hair sinks deeper with a hole in his chest. Despite his grave situation, I think I can save him. Swimming after him, the glowing fish swim out of his way. I grab his coat and pull him closer. Without even thinking, I know now that I'm like the fish. My hand rests over the gaping hole and my hand suddenly glows a vibrant green. The fish stop glowing around us and his body starts to repair itself. My head pounds again. That malicious thing knocks. Hi in there. I jump as it knocks twice. I start pulling him up as it starts knocking faster and faster. The once glowing fish sway, suspended upside down as I desperately swim up for air. One loud knock from the monster and everything turns red.
Somehow I'm on solid ground, a crimson red mist all around me. "What in the hell?!" I get flashbacks, to that house, the dark fields. The black pods filled with people. A deep voice beckons loud, "Purpose." What the hell is this! With a shake of my head, "Protect!" The red mist gets angry and shouts back, "Destroy!" "No!" It all swirls around me as I shout, "You come from me! You must protect!" It bellows, "Destroy to protect?" I shake my head, "No." The mist wraps around my neck, "Must destroy!"
I cough up water and gag as rain pounds against me. My eyes open to the guy I saved limping away towards shore, before I can muster a word, my head falls into the sand.
I open my eyes to soldiers all around me. Carter sits down in the sand, "Wow. Something's in you." I frown, "You're a monster." He smiles, "Anything you want, I get to keep what's in you." The thing knocks loud again.

Back in that odd place with the red sky, the red mist appears again and shouts, "Serve Carter!" "Absolutely not!" It roars at me, "Must destroy! Carter destroy!" I grab the mist, "Then- Serve Jean. Embody me to the fullest extent you can. If not, destroy yourself!" It quickly wraps around me, like a dress. I quickly grab at my head. It grumbles, "Mother."
I open my eyes and Carter smiles, "So? Can I have it?" His face quickly turns to confusion as I giggle with a crooked smile. "Yes." "Then give it." What is this rush? So blissful. I shouldn't feel this way. "That's the beauty of it. I can't." Carter stands and the soldiers raise their rifles to my head, "Give me it! Now!" I look up at him as the red mist pours out of my skin. His face goes pale as we watch it all waltz back into the ocean. His real face folds open, skin flaps flail at me as he roars, "Go ahead and eat me, Carter!" His claws dig into my neck, I giggle and look to the beach, "Look, you have witnesses." The soldiers turn and point at them, but he growls at me. I kiss his disgusting forehead. As the guns go off, he bites down.
I open my eyes to glowing fish, that black haired guy swims up as I sink. Bubbles escape me, there's a hole in my chest, a red mist escapes from it. No. It got out. Did it manipulate my mind? Or was it the lack of air? Wait- A woman looks to me, she's holding onto a giant man in the nude by a rope to his ankle. She grabs my hand and somehow, we just float up. As we hit the shore, the rain smacks against us. She pulls me to shore and looks at me, "Oh my god! Uh-" She quickly gives up on me and starts dragging the heavy one in. I smile and run my fingers through the sand. A moment like that, that red mist. An odd feeling so rooted, like I felt back in Washington. Acorns and now blood.
I open my eyes to bright lights and Carter enthralled by the ocean.
