Chapter 95 — New Route… Awakened?

New Route… Awakened?

Fox was about to say something, but the fella read more from his personal window. His face fell. “1st Grade… So, it was true. What the hell!”

With the guy shouting, exclaiming, and just being loud, Mena narrowed her eyes and politely smiled with thin lips. Meanwhile, Fox lifted his left eyebrow and stared down at his personal window while thinking of the guy before him, not even look at him. Then, a similar but 'external' toll from a swifter bell sounded, before a light holographic showcased a screen with another person's information.

‘2nd Grade, so he is something… only 80,000 credits. Oh, I can read how long he has been a PSD agent, 3 months… After I left. I can’t see his address, nor his owned estate or business ownerships.’ Fox understood the personal windows’ functionality a bit better.

The guy had already been sent off by Mena by the time Fox lifted his chin. It was the two of them now. As Fox blinked, Mena stared at him and explained, “He didn’t have something to say. I also read your file a little. I figured you wouldn’t want someone like that near you for long.”

“Um, I’m used to it. It’s fine,” Fox replied, looking at Mena for a brief moment with the intention to know about her. A light holographic screen appeared above his personal window again, with the same slightly low quality lettering. Mena blinked at his curiosity but ignored it. Instead, she spoke in a low volume, “Yeah, no. You shouldn’t have to.”

Fox lifted his eyes again to see her shake her head with half dropped eyelids. He thought for a bit before saying, “Thanks. You said something about business on sale before I left, can you show them to me?”

“Yup!” Mena crouched to look for a thick book before slamming it on the counter. With a slight, exclaiming breath out of her mouth, she looked through the pages before selecting 6 pages and separating them with a plastic tool within the book.

“These are within Proteros, and to my experience, the best ones yet. Whichever you want,” Mena gestured to the book, taking a step backwards to let Fox choose. After a minute, Fox nodded before asking Mena, “Can I make a reservation?”

“Nope, but if you give me something in return, I may accidentally cross them off the paper for no reason,” Mena smiled thinly.

“You want my body?” Said Fox, closing the plastic booklet and staring fixedly into her eyes. Mena stayed silent, looking at him without a rippling emotion. At last, her lips quivered as she opened them, “Nope. If I wanted to, I wouldn’t blackmail you. What sort of ugly romance is that?”

“Oh, but I do want your body,” Mena seemed to think of something. Her eyes brightened, and as she leaned over the counter, she expressed. “I want it to move nonstop and make me free bions once you get to business within the District.”

“Hah?” Fox lifted his eyebrows. Mena nodded with earnest. Fox thought for a bit before leaning over the counter with crossed arms, grinning. “I can’t possibly do that. But I’ll give you a 65% discount from now on. But nothing more than that. We’ll help each other from now on with this, mm?”

“Ah, those Ruvas did teach you well. Perfect, even. I’ll see if I can climb the B&C’s thighs.” Mena shook her head and straightened her back. She hid a smirk before taking his hands and shaking his right hand with hers. Fox smirked in return, correcting her, “Ruva, only.”

“Mn,” she nodded. “So, which do you want, Fox?”

“Not yet, I will look for somewhere to stay first… And if I will have enough for my Myertha,” Fox shook his head. Mena nodded, understanding his cautiousness. Then, she smiled, not having to remind him how to spend well the hard-earned money before it became someone else’s scam-earned wealth.

“For now, just… ‘reserve’ these for me, if you could.” Fox pointed at a few and said before looking up at Mena. She nodded with attention before directly erasing them with a cylindrical object. It wasn’t a pen or an eraser, but more like a small toy to assemble into things with many others of the same properties.

“Oh, these are just some of our things. We are one of the richest secret organizations in the world. We won’t stupidly build our cybernetic system to record everything, you know? These are just some comfortable gadgets. Okay, Fox. Now that that is over, you wanna chat?” Mena closed the book, returned it to below the counter, and leaned over the counter.

Fox didn’t want to, but he felt like spending some time with this lady, who treated him well since he arrived here a criminal. Thus, he nodded. For the following 2 hours, while Fox saw her work with some agents taking the main entrance to go in or out, they chatted.

At last, Fox looked at the time before thinking of something. After his mission, which he did his best to forget, he felt a bit embarrassed to not know what was going on in Proteros. He had no idea of what the deal was in the capital, let alone its surroundings.

“Is there anything worth noticing lately? News, I mean,” Fox asked with a slight frown. Mena’s brown eyes brightened again. “You want to know? Oh my, the kid becomes the adult. Will you watch news now? Hehe.”

“I’ll start calling you grandma sister if you really want an elderly status with me,” Fox politely smirked, threatening the innocent young woman. Mena widened her eyes, shaking her head in disappointment, “I was only playing. Didn’t have to be so bratty.”

“Tonight’s a program… that might interest you. It has been worked for several months now, with ‘certain’ things a madman did in Lýmoca not too long ago becoming public knowledge after the government’s investigation culminated.” Mena said before stretching. “Anyway, if you find a place to stay, be sure to watch it.”

“Alright… Thanks for everything,” Fox said, thanking her after darting his eyes for a bit. He turned around and exited the building. Mena looked at his back before chuckling, wondering in her little mind, ‘What kind of things will you end up messing? G’ luck to you.’

… Fox presented himself to the HQ and became a 1st Grade special agent, a firster. The ceremony for his recruits’ batch had already occurred and finished. He was 3 months late. While it would be nice to show up after that, Fox had a therapist to meet. As long as it wasn’t necessary, he wouldn’t bother with anything.

Checking his new phone, Fox installed some apps to start his housing-finding. He wore a hat and glasses left in the box, and even kept the box, before walking into the open streets of night Proteros City.

Fox couldn’t go to the HD, the Housing Department, or he would be apprehended, though only if he didn’t resist. As for his identity in the apps, he used ‘Fox’, and no profile. Anything else was cleared up thanks to PSD’s connection with the government. Their relationship really seemed a bit close.

Fox waited a little in the same coffee shop as before, taking another large drink until the evening. Once Morena walked into the building, he did the same as always and checked the perimeter before entering the building.

This time, while the grandpa was there again, things changed. It wasn’t the flirting phase of courting anymore, but the two, the receptionist and grandpa, sitting together and calmly talking about the other with one another.

Fox politely smirked at them before directly walking into Mona’s office, with the receptionist habitually gesturing him to go in. She also voiced a little loud after recognizing him, “Welcome back- … Fox. It is nice seeing you return from work!”

As usual, he didn’t offer a comment or nod and just went into the office. Inside was Mona, with 2 cups of tea ready, drinking from her own. Fox took his ‘disguise’ off and sat, keeping his jacket on.

Mona looked at the thin fabric beneath his clothes showing on his collarbone and spoke after taking another sip calmly, “Congratulations, Fox. At last. I see you’re wearing the ‘uniform’. How has it been for you? These past few months.”

“Eventful,” Fox slightly leaned over and intertwined his fingers under the table. Mona nodded, putting her cup down as Fox took a few sips from his. She inquired, “How did your client treat you? She wasn’t just any client, a VIP.”

“I knew that,” Fox nodded, taking more sips. Mona continued, “As such, she has the right to know some details from her employees. Did she seem affected by your condition? It must be difficult to accept. Not many would believe that, and within reason. But you’re far from reason.”

“That is indeed strange. Since she knew, why did it seem like she wanted to copulate with me? I did not do anything I didn’t want to, but I had to always simulate that… notion. She either didn’t believe it or-” Fox didn’t finish his sentence, interrupted by Mona, “She didn’t care.”

“Mhm,” Fox simply nodded, finishing his first cup. He served himself another while Mona asked again, “I read you killed during this mission. How did that feel?”

He stared at her in surprise. Mona explained without batting an eye, “A copy of your report came to me the moment you registered, I believe. I’ve read it a few times before coming here. I’d prefer if we talk through it with whatever pace you would like.”

“Okay,” Fox nodded after hearing her. He took a slightly long breath into his lungs before beginning, “I liked it, at first. It was refreshing to do it again, and to so many targets placed together. But it became exciting when I chased them.”

Morena looked at him, squinting her eyes a little at times, before asking him, crossing her right leg over the other. “Did you use your ultra body?”

“Mn,” Fox closed his eyes while nodding, remembering the thin, fantastic sensations, like an animal reminiscing of the young days going feral during its old state. When he opened them again, his eyes polycoria were a little dilated. They returned to normal afterwards, but Mona noticed them.

“Well, we have a lot to discuss. You didn’t come for months, remember?” Mona smirked to the left corner of her mouth. Fox blinked a few times, “But I was in a miss- task. I had to fulfill my duty.”

“Uh-uh, that’s not an excuse for being at fault anytime,” Mona lifted her left index finger and swayed nos with it. “You could have come at any moment, but you didn’t. Now, we’ll make up for it. Ah, I know. Since we’re celebrating your graduation from the recruitment regimen, and your success, bring me on a date sometime. Okay? I have the feeling you’d be able to move around soon.”

Fox tilted his head to the right, a lot. But considering he had a good reason to, and money, he nodded repeatedly before slapping his palms just above his knees. Mona smiled soothingly, saying, “Now, before we continue. About that client of yours. You said she wanted you to… act in a breeding manner, and you complied. Information such as fertility isn’t shown to even the VIP clients. Did you tell her? And, how do you feel with her actions and your response in the matter?”

“…” Fox… fell pensive. He wasn’t dumb enough to not consider all of this before, but he didn’t put it on thought for a reason. Just as Mona wanted to pacify him, and that he didn’t have to if he didn’t want to, Fox went, “I didn’t, but she wasn’t stupid not to know it, or realize it.”

“I’m sure she knew, though. As for my response to her… moves… I don’t intend to hide it. I do think I did it, and would again, out of compensation for Pheli.” Fox’s voice became so low, lesser than a whisper. His face tilted down. His eyes became sorrowful; nostalgic.

‘How matured you’ve come to grow.’ Mona’s eyebrows weakly creased in curves. Her blue eyes became so worried, almost as if she could feel his pain. She leaned over and extended her right arm over her desk, lightly tapping his left backhand, keeping in check his comfort still.

“…” - “…”

They looked at each other, nothing more. Fox felt the warmth from her eyes, with Mona feeling a bit better the more his emotional state seemed to stabilize. She seemed to realize about something before smiling, feeling contented. Then, their session, a long one, continued.

. . .

Proteros City center, southern mega hotel #5, 6th floor.

After exiting the therapist’s building, it was already 1 PM. Fox had the money, so the costly yet available residences in the capital were up for the taking. With 1.25 million credits, Fox rented a suite in a mega hotel.

This one faced the presidential precinct and had a fairly good angle of the ‘capital flag’, which would aim somewhat towards the hotel, but still give a good side view of its Silverplated Eagle.

The mega hotel itself had over 60 floors. However, it wasn’t the number of suites what mattered, but the sumptuousness each of the ‘normal’ ones had. There were only 2 ‘ranks’ about the regular suites, which Fox wasn’t willing to go after, not wanting to spend hundreds of thousands of credits per night.

Instead, he went for the ‘poorest’ richest suites in mega hotels. These rooms are quite large, evenly, and only about 6 of them are in each floor. 2 at the sides and 1 in the opposite extremes. Fox took the suite in the northern side near the sole suite in the eastern side.

It cost him 10,000 the night. Almost 300,000 credits a month. With this ‘incentive’ Fox had better get to work soon, and fast. Still, it was damn worthy. The place was almost 20 times larger than his apartment atop the pizzeria alone. It had 2 showers, one that seemed best for couples, or more… and another for relaxation and thought-process.

It had 6 bedrooms, of which one was the main bedroom, with a wide space and comfortable bed. The others were a little small and simple, but as comfortable and fancy as the rest of the suite. Furthermore, it had see-through wallglass. If one wanted, they could enjoy the magnificent view of the concrete jungle.

The only landscapes worth noticing were the national structures and buildings, which only Fox had when in the kitchen or living room.

Currently, he was in the relaxing bathroom, taking a hot shower. After staying in the mansion and re-experiencing showering with a lover, he still couldn’t let go of the feeling of water on his body. Alone and with no thoughts in his head. Fox supported his body with his left hand on the wall.

[Métemela, así, suave… Qué rico…] A flash of the most sensual memories in his head, rather recent, invaded him. Fox opened his eyes, almost furious. He stood straight amidst ragged breathing.

Those memories weren’t unique, as they repeated everywhere he could remember in the mansion where he could have a moment to ‘talk’. Furthermore, they were each as hot and… unforgettable.

Fox evened his breathing, but then, feeling something was off, he looked down. His eyelids drooped, “Sigh…”

Before Fox turned the shower off, a smaller layer of thin plastic-looking rectangular item glowed below the showerhead. It made a ‘ting’ sound before a voice spoke in a pre-recorded, non-human speech. Not quite robotic. “Fox, it is late at night. This would be a good moment to write Doctor Morena about your troub-”

“I said no emotional support active,” Fox lightly called out, startled and annoyed. The voice stopped, but only for a couple of seconds before it recommended, “The mental stability of young, regular, and old men throughout their lives in the world is vastly-”

“No emotional support!” Fox barked. The voice turned itself down, making no noise. It glowed a holographic message with impoverished quality that read ‘emotional support feature has been turned off’.

‘Huh, you know how to behave.’ Even though it was an awful experience just now, Fox couldn’t help noticing the ultramodern technology he was barely coming across. There was also the NUAs, or rather, the Nuclear Uniform Armor suits, which sounded pretty damn powerful.

“?” Fox’s right ear tingled a tiny bit. He lowered his chin and fixated his ear to face the small open window. Then, he spoke to his personal window while frowning. “WID, call the police and inform the assault with a firearm, unidentified, a few streets from here. Anonymous.”

The WID on the wall flashed a glow across its surface like the rapid passing of the sun on the ground, with the shadows of structures in the area moving along throughout the day.

Then, Fox turned the shower off, grabbed his personal window, and came out of the individual booth. The small window remained open, but a net slid downwards, further covering it. The remaining water quickly ran down the drain with the level design before the steam was sucked by it after making some mechanical sounds from within.

That would become reused clean water for other purposes, only for the mega hotel’s benefit, though.

Ignoring the spear ‘stabbed’ on his groins, Fox dried himself while walking to the living room. He picked one of the thick, long sofas to relax after slowly dressing up, feeling calm. Checking the time again and looked at the multiple channels before selecting the one that’d rebroadcast the news he was supposed to watch before getting even more comfy.

He placed his head on his forearms and spread his legs after pulling a lever and rotating a button below the armrest his arms were now resting on. Extra cushions slowly moved out of its lower front section while supports followed suit, keeping the sofa from inclining, as several cushions moved out.

Feeling the soft and fullness of the sofa, Fox almost felt sleepy. Then, the show started.

“Tonight, we’re presenting you ‘the Lye martyr’ of Lýmoca!” A male announcer with short, black curly hair shouted in excitement. A tall, white blonde, mature woman with excessive, tantalizing bosom appeared as the angle zoomed out, complementing the former. “To those who don’t know, this is the mini-documentary after the government investigated the Sargonde incident.”

“That’s right,” the male announcer continued from where she left it, while his partner adorned a bright, wide smile. He followed with, “In Sargonde, a tragedy that took over a thousand lives couldn’t just happen because some people came in and came barging into the doors of life.”

“This is how a simple, not yet a young man, boy managed to elude the trap his lagj secret organization put him through when…” The male announcer knew how to make dramatic pauses. He continued, “They discovered he was actually turning them to the government!”

“My heavens!” The pretty blonde shook her head exaggeratedly, but not so much. The male announced nodded, convinced with himself, before going on, “Indeed. You will next witness a detailed explanation on this matter. Don’t leave, it’s about to start. Accompany us in informing yourselves of this tremendous honor, that although aided the country, it was not without misery.”

The male announcer smiled brightly when he said those last few words. He wasn’t as strikingly attractive as a handsome man as the female announcer, but he had a ‘typical’ guy next door detail to his character.

The camera zoomed out into the dark, replacing the announcer’s big smile and assertive eyes with nothingness. Sounds of flapping papers and ink spluttering sounded before the middle of the screen showed colors, like the dimly lighting of an oil lamp, eating away the black screen.

“Since the 24th, the police forces of the state of Sargonde became confused by the hidden notes left behind by an unknown person. With the president’s new calling line for secret organizations investigations, the national guard and specialized police met these, quoting, ‘nonsensical banters’.”

“At first, they were believed it was meant to mock the authorities. It was clear that the job was orchestrated and done by these not professional, but special agents, with nothing but an objective and money in mind, had made their appearance in those scenes. However, a note was left behind in a few of those from everywhere in Sargonde.”

“Of course, at the time, they weren’t known as notes. But as time passed, with each of these found between 4 and 14 days after clearing a scene, some individuals discerned a pattern.”

“A wide research that would take even the other supercontinents’ curious experts to have a look would take place after the first few notes were discovered. But even then, the authorities and these experts weren’t capable of finding any sense from the notes.”

“It wasn’t until The Lye Martyr incident that they gained meaning. The moment the vice president, Lesly Rivera, showed the contents of what will be known as the last note, everything fitted together.”
