Chapter 58 — Life-Living Moments

Life-Living Moments

Bang- bang- bang- bang! Phesx Caolia watched as Pheli aimed her large gun over the edge of the roof. She only rested it for a second before opening fire 4 times in a row. 4 shots hit 4 criminals with their backs facing them, opening like curtains to reveal organs, which immediately exploded inside, and their spines turned into smithereens.

“Uuuh?!” - “What was that?!” - “Behiiind us! Behind uus!” - “¡Tu puta madre, nos están rodeando! Nos van a mataaar!” - “AAAAAH! What the fuck?! Aaaah!”

Phesx lifted his left eyebrow. After being attacked from the back, the criminals crouched and twisted their limbs, hoping that’ll somehow avoid any gunshots from coming to take their lives. But Pheli simply fired 4 times before keeping her large toy hidden.

Just then, from the front, Phesx noticed movement, but he wasn’t the only one. Imán made a clicking sound with his tongue, sounding loud, which attracted the criminals and the incoming organization’s people rushing towards Pheli.

These lagjs were at the rear of the ‘enemy’ criminal organization, otherwise, they wouldn’t have acted as soon as the other line was attacked by Riverlye. Furthermore, they rushed at Pheli to stop her, not to join her and kill off those criminals she attacked.

Seeing half a dozen people come towards them, Phesx felt a bit of excitement fill his lungs in the next breathing motion before Imán ordered, “Let’s go get those!”

Everyone moved down, with Phesx following like a robot, but out of pure instinct. When they landed on the ground and the enemy lagjs detoured to in between the houses, Imán looked behind him, only to see Phesx standing behind him.

“You’re fast.” Imán looked down at Phesx, just a bit. Phesx nodded in return, “You are, too.”

“No, I’m not.” Imán shook his head before grabbing his submachine gun in position. Then, he flickered his eyes to his team before nodding at them. The team moved forth, dividing into 2 as they went to the front and back of the houses. Meanwhile, both criminal groups were startled but slowly recovered.

Phesx advanced on the left, with another medic behind him, but still an Artista. Phesx was supposed to walk behind the medic, but he went ahead and led, leaving the medic helpless.

The first to meet the enemy were Imán and Waleks, who drove attention to themselves. On the other hand, Phesx’s side became quieter as he walked between 2 rows of houses in the neighborhood with the medic behind him.

Phesx moved without making any sound, but the medic behind him echoed with a tiny whiff from his nostrils sporadically, slightly irking him. He decided to take 2 steps further ahead and move a little to the left. Phesx slowly lowered his rifle and let it hang on his left shoulder while lifting his submachine gun on his right.

Tap- trrrrrr r r r r r rr! Phesx’s eyebrows jumped, and so did his eyes expand. He looked up. Half a second later, a foot stepped on the side of a house around its corner, with a person peeking, hanging from the roof with a gun moving to aim at them.

Phesx abruptly stopped. The medic didn’t notice until half a second later. Phesx twisted his body, kicked the ground, and once he was in the air, he kicked the medic harshly. He impulsed himself into the air first before dashing through it. At the same time, he already aimed at the enemy above, spraying around his feet and up to his knee.

Phesx heard a yelp from the medic pushed behind as a few bullets were shot in between him and the medic. Might as well, he heard a groan from the enemy, who lost his hold and fell. While the enemy fell, Phesx fired like a single-action mode, but he was just controlling the trigger exquisitely. As the enemy fell, he was barraged with bullets until it limply collapsed on the floor.

Its corpse broke its neck and shoulders, making quite a sound under its armor. Phesx fell with his upper back first on the grass, before widening his eyes when he saw another 2 enemies hanging from the roof behind the previous one.

Phesx let go of his gun and grabbed a few knives from the middle of his back. He kicked the air up and backwards with his right leg after throwing the knives. His body rapidly stood up after a spin. Phesx crouched to hold his rifle, which had a better angle, and fired at them after they dropped from the roof.

One of them was grazed by his knife on the knee, while the other dodged it. But Phesx’s rifle aimed with prediction, targeting an enemy’s head. Phesx shot, but the enemy tilted his body half a second before, then fell to the ground while their comrade shot at Phesx with a small pistol.

Phesx slammed his left side on the grass before sliding his back backwards. Then, he heard the medic rush to his help as the enemy shooting him closed their fire line towards him. Phesx rapidly pulled his pistol out and fired, stopping that firing line, but the other enemy had already stabilized.

Yet, before that enemy could aim at him, the medic kicked the wall and rushed to them, firing twice, but only hitting the shoulders before falling with his knees on the enemy. “Aagh!”

The enemy groaned, but the medic choked those sounds with his knives going through the enemy’s neck. The medic balanced all his weight on his back, using the enemy as a shield as they fell to the grass. Phesx was just in time to fire at the other enemy, who rapidly reacted and aimed at him, both standing with their presence lowered.

Bang bang bang bang bang bang!

The enemy fired his rifle, and so did Phesx, but Phesx’s rifle shot like a shotgun from up close, immediately diverting and thwarting some of the force a few bullets shot towards him had. Phesx felt a bullet graze his mask, cutting it like a hot knife through butter before bleeding his skin.

On the other hand, the enemy received 2 shots in the neck even after crouching to avoid any possible gunshot. The enemy fell on their knees, trying to hold the bleeding, but Phesx walked forward and kicked their face.

Phesx placed his rifle’s muzzle on the enemy’s neck with their head stomped against the ground before firing once. At once, he felt his left foot step on something soft and weak, accidentally crushing the enemy’s face. When Phesx looked back at the medic while hearing his surroundings to probe, the latter was cleaning his blades from brain matter, and the enemy had holes in their head.

Then, Phesx led to meet ahead with Imán and Waleks, who only had a few grazing bullet wounds. Imán had a stab wound in his left lower side, which seemed like the perpetrator wanted to cut upwards but couldn’t in the end.

The only way for Phesx to know it was them was when he heard Imán’s clicking noise to communicate. It wasn’t the way the Riverlye communicated amidst battle, but one of its ways. The codes, pauses, and volume all belonged to the secret organization, though.

“Another one is coming, bait.” Imán spoke as delicately as cotton again. The others nodded before rushing to one of the pickup trucks. However, they had to clear it before that.

Phesx moved with the other 3, walking behind the medic, who moved forth beside Imán. He and Waleks shared positions in the rear as they locked the criminals and started killing them. Phesx aimed with all of the world’s calm. He saw a few backs and pulled his trigger again and again.

The others did just the same, rapidly mowing a small group of criminals behind a pickup truck. The other line of criminals looked at this, astounded, when one of them aimed their handgun towards them, just in case.

Well, that ‘just in case’ move just gained them death, as Phesx didn’t even consider before firing at a young boy, directly making him fall backwards with his collarbone holed. The criminals on the other line began firing at them because of that, making their advancement a 3-way struggle.

Phesx kept firing away at those, immediately neutralizing anyone who peeked at them, while the others cleared the way to go through. Phesx heard Waleks and the medic groan when a few bullets didn’t fully flash by around their bodies, but he didn’t when it happened to Imán.

Finally arriving at the rear of the pickup truck, the team crouched on the sidewalk. Some criminals remained alive but dropped their guns, which is why they lived, but they picked them again after the team left them alive. Instincts or stupidity, it gained them a barrage of bullets before dropping dead.

Phesx aimed at a young girl after killing someone in their 16s or 17s just behind her, using her as half a shield. Phesx aimed at her but didn’t pull the trigger. The young girl’s hands trembled as she lowered them. She was just a 14-15 year old, with short black hair, brown skin, and even looked sweet. Phesx gestured her to drop to the ground.

When she didn’t and Phesx arrived before her, he kicked her shins, immediately sending her dropping hard against it. He looked down before kicking the handgun beside her away, avoiding any unpleasant situation, before tying her wrists with a rope hanging from his strap vest.

The young girl began struggling out of survival. Phesx was glad he didn’t ignore the handgun from before as he slapped the back of her head a little to make her stay still and locked both her forearms. Imán looked at the others to warn them. “Those fuckers’ party is coming! Another one’s coming, too! They might be allied!”

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Phesx looked past the rear of the truck, where 4 who dressed similar to those they killed before moved to intercept them. Another 10 were moving towards them a little closer to the middle, advancing with the other 4.

Phesx returned his eyes to the young girl, who stopped struggling and looked at him with the left corner of her left eye. As he finished binding her wrists, he was about to pull her up…

Pft- ptium… Pft- pvsium.

The ground below the truck was filled with gunshots that buried in the dirt and even made sparks before bouncing on the truck’s belly. But one of them didn’t and ricocheted with all its force instead, just as Phesx grabbed the girl’s collar from behind and pulled her up.

The bullet went straight into her chest, penetrating through and crossing below his groins. Phesx looked at the young girl who opened her mouth in a wide 0, rapidly losing light in her brown eyes as she looked up for help. Phesx was semi-paralyzed as her eyes dulled.

“…” Phesx let her body drop before looking up. He saw the same firing line come from the criminals on the other side. Also from those other 10 moving towards them.

At this moment, the team led by Teon exited their hiding places and intercept those 10 while the team Phesx was in engaged those other 4. Meanwhile, gunshots sounded from the other extreme of the criminal group on the other side. Another lagj organization made its appearance.

Teon immediately drowned the enemy group of 10 in the middle, killing off more criminals in front to take the pickup trucks as cover. The enemy group lost 2 while injuring a Riverlye, but Teon’s team had Artistas with ‘gut’, internal, bions. One threw seed-sized sound bombs from their palms, while another shot needless from their knuckles, injuring their target one way or another.

After seeing the current situation, all participating lagjs organization groups showing, except for Pheli’s team, Phesx rushed above the pickup truck in front. Sliding over its front, he ran into the street, where all crossfires met, with his rifle held by his left hand below his submachine gun held by his right hand. His wrists intertwined, one above the other in that order, aiming at the enemy lagjs with 8 members left.

Because all had to die.

“Fox!” Imán delicately shouted. Only the lagjs people heard it, but only Pheli’s team had enough freedom to turn to look at Phesx run to the middle of the intersection. She didn’t raise her voice but smacked her lips ever so slightly. Immediately after, her team stood up and moved in the shadows…

Bang bang- trrrrr rrrrrrr rrrrrrrr bang bang bang! Phesx felt the adrenaline of placing himself into such danger, but he was also excited. He attracted attention from everyone except the rest of the Riverlye group, but all Fox worried about was to rush with all the speed and rage he could place on pedaling his legs!

Phesx’s guns barraged 3 enemies on their backs, even making one slam against the street, lifeless. Teon pushed forth, killing all remaining criminals around her team before going all-out to the lagjs before her.

Imán’s team already killed 2 of the enemy team before them. Whatever story these and those who already died had, the former decided to flee, but Imán’s team gave immediate chase.

Phesx felt his right ankle grazed or shot by a bullet, but that didn’t stop him from moving, at least not yet. His right shoulder was definitely penetrated twice, though. After shooting at the enemy lagjs in the middle, he dropped his submachine gun in the air. Phesx threw his rifle backwards, still hanging by his left shoulder, before placing grenades around his submachine gun with the strap while rolling forward.

Phesx slid through the street. His shoes felt pebbles and some trash before stopping. He grabbed the submachine gun and rapidly pulled the grenades’ levers off before spinning once and throwing the gun through the air.

Just as it headed towards one of the pickup trucks, where many criminals hid, unaware. The loudest of bangs was fired, followed by a large gunshot appearing on the side of the truck. It wasn’t directly where gas is deposited, but liquid started streaming out, when the submachine gun flew towards it.

Boom- BAAAANG…

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Phesx wasted not a moment as he took his pistol out, letting his rifle hang on his left, and straightened his back. The pain from his right shoulders was ignored. He fired his small pistol again and again. It wasn’t until the fired 12 times in a row that he emptied his magazine.

Immediately after, Phesx turned to the right, crouched, and grabbed his rifle while impulsing himself backwards as his eyes widened and their contents shrank. Phesx just avoided 2 bullets show by criminals from where he was standing. He watched them fly before him while aiming ahead with his rifle, where the third lagjs peeked and aimed at him.

Little to no criminal was left alive, leaving only a couple of small groups littering in the battlefield. Just as Phesx’s back dropped on the ground, lightly sliding on the rough street, and the other lagj group exchanged gunfire, Pheli cornered them atop the house behind them, fusillading them from various angles. Even as the enemy used a few shielding bions, they were overpowered by the heavy, numerical advantageous rain of bullets shooting towards them.

Phesx received a bullet on his right sole after he felt danger and ‘kicked’ the air above his waist. His sole ended up eating a bullet, which penetrated but deviated it to caress the air above his head. Additionally, Imán’s team came over to help him, getting rid of the last criminals in this side and helping with the other lagjs.

Teon also finished dealing with the enemy group in the center. In but 10 seconds, the battle turned disordered and finished just like that. The only ones standing were Riverlye, although Phesx softly groaned on the ground.

“…” Phesx calmed down as Pheli appeared in his field of vision, facing the sky. She looked down at him without a thought before looking at the others surrounding him. Then, Teon appeared, frowning as she asked, “Why did you do that?”

“Mff… that girl over there… And… I felt like it?” Phesx closed his right eye before struggling to keep both eyes open. Although he could only squint them at best. Teon looked where he came out of and frowned, pouting to the side before exiting his sight. Phesx continued looking at the sky, with Pheli giving him a few more scrutinizing glances.

“See him,” Pheli looked at someone and ordered. Phesx heard familiar footsteps before Pheli nodded at him, unnoticeably lifting her right eyebrow. After she exited his field of view, Phesx heard the medic, “Is the baby hurt? Come, baby. I’ll patch you up.”

Phesx felt someone help him semi-sit down, lying with his torso in the air before the medic walked around to check his right shoulder and foot whilst injecting red syringes. Waleks’s voice sounded above his head, complaining, “I’m gonna charge you those grenades, ey?”

“Hmph~,” Phesx struggled to grin as he saw the mess he made. All the criminals behind the exploded truck were limp on the ground, although he couldn’t tell if he killed them, or the other lagjs did. Some Artistas smelled of yellow and green syringes, a bit of red, too.

After the medic injected him yellow syringes and only a green one in the shoulder, they set off.

Pheli had to drive the Myertha on their way back, so she gave him the helmet. But when she offered the gloves, Phesx shook his head. They rode with her at the front because of his injuries. Pheli would enjoy driving the baby for sure, while Phesx would enjoy hugging her…

… When they neared Sargonde’s state city, instead of driving directly inside, Pheli detoured towards the outskirts. The truck followed them, seemingly a choice from Pheli.

Phesx no longer felt a bit heated, maybe from the fever, and felt better. It was mostly thanks to the green syringe on his shoulder. They rode for another 10 minutes before slowing down at a small town. Loud bass noises came from a place distanced from the neighborhoods.

Phesx watched as they approached a rather humble-sized establishment. There were some neon lights, just a few, and various people chatting, relaxing, and flirting outside. There were quite a few, but the atmosphere felt just relaxing.

As they parked in the parking lot, they gained a few glances, but that was merely curiosity before the onlookers went on their things. Pheli helped Phesx down the bike before heading to the entrance. Indeed, she grabbed his hand and pulled him exactly how a woman would to her man.

Some people greeted them with ‘hey’, and ‘is he good?’, with smiles and just to welcome them a bit warmly. Phesx has never faced something like this, hospitality from what seemed locals in a random town outside the city.

Pheli helped him inside. Immediately, there were 2 routes, one was downstairs, while the other was the only floor above the ground, the main floor. Pheli looked back at him and said to his face without saying anything, only moving her lips.

Reading ‘lights above, dark below’, Phesx looked down by instinct. Pheli smiled, planted a smooch on the cut of his right cheek, which was half gone, and she couldn’t know. Then, he was brought downstairs. Phesx heard footsteps behind him, and what felt like the presence of the other Riverlye Artistas. They went up instead, saying things like relaxing after such fun.

Phesx proceeded to focus on what was ahead of him, as he and Pheli were swallowed by the darkness, with a multitude of people below. After crossing some soft, long black curtains, Phesx tensed up and guarded Pheli, watching perfectly how not a single limb moved towards her. In fact, they politely moved out of the way while dancing.

Pheli looked back at him when he became guarded before staring ahead to search for a spot, letting him experience this life on his own. Phesx looked around with more ease, finding out they were partying, indeed, but not just like crazed folk.

The music was a bit loud, and the people were getting touchy, but only with each other, spending a good time alone with their partners or some candidates. Meanwhile, others were simply… enjoying the atmosphere, dancing in between or slowly moving with their intimate others at the side, provoking each other.

Pheli brought Phesx to a corner before taking 2 thin glasses from a waiter who walked specifically towards them. It was that obvious to Phesx, and Pheli.

Phesx smelled the liquor from afar to probe it, to which Pheli smiled and downed the thing. Phesx followed suit, not liking the odor and preparing for another bitter experience. But when it reached his tongue, its taste sparkled.

Phesx was distracted, and so, Pheli attacked. She hugged his neck and puckered her lips, pecking his mouth. Phesx softly closed his eyes after seeing hers closed. After several seconds, both opened their eyes. That was a tender kiss. It was such that Phesx was dumbfounded.

Pheli took advantage of this to close her mouth in towards his right ear and whisper, “Half of the people here are ‘snakes’, while the other half are just townsfolk or from a city! Not including the workers. What do you think?”

“…” Phesx looked at Pheli, astounded. Her voice was loud, mellow, low, and like a melodic. She smiled, slowly swaying her hips. Though dancing was a no no for the young boy, still not an official adult, he moved at her rhythm, complementing her movements… her.

Placing his hands around her waist, intuitively caressing her hips and back, Phesx felt the need to rub his face on hers, constantly, maybe endlessly. Pheli couldn’t be more willing. As the lovebirds closed their eyes, their bodies met each other. Not with bare skin and connecting, but mere movements.

What a boring way to know one’s heart, and the other’s. What a heavenly way to life.
