Chapter 29 — Charging Into The Centralized Parliament

Charging Into The Centralized Parliament

Phesx Caolia woke up in the morning, first of the 9th month. He was under his bedsheets, with barely a few lights illuminating the world around him. A blonde head rested on his chest, with comfortably closed eyes and evened breathing. Phesx Caolia looked at his door and lifted his eyebrows when he heard someone knock before opening the door.

“Hey, Phesss… ooh!” Adams stood beside a cute brown-haired, naturally curly, young woman. They locked arms, when Adams looked ‘0o0’ at Maria’s hidden but bare body under the sheets. Phesx Caolia looked at him, wondering what he’d do next.

Toc- toc… Adams knuckled on the door again, already fully open, and said to Phesx while shaking his head and grabbing his girlfriend’s waist, who was shocketh. “This… I knew something like this would’ve happened. The others are idiots who want meat, you aren’t.”

Phesx Caolia tilted his head to the right, wearing a strict-ish expression. However, Adams continued, seemingly unafraid of his boss, thinking she was gone out cold. “You have it in you, respects. Okay, when she wakes up, tell her that our unit’s turn is coming soon. Hey, I see you’ve really done it this time, she’s-”

“You really want me to kill you?” Maria fake punched Phesx Caolia’s abdomen with her left reverse fist before turning her head to the door, hiding her body still. Adams’s eyes widened in shock. He stepped back before hurrying away, “Of course not! Come on, Jimena.”

After watching them leave, with that Jimena giggling, Phesx Caolia’s attention was brought to his new playmate. He looked down at her face, raw and resting, with a naturally serious pose. Her celeste eyes slightly narrowed, nose defined and somewhat small, and slightly protruding, elegant red lips. Seeing his ‘daze’ with his gaze on her face, Maria softly asked.

“Contented to see me still here?” Her hands wrapped around his neck before hugging his nape. Phesx Caolia relaxed and licked his lips, remembering all her head movements in between rounds, exquisite. “It’s no wonder. Your stamina’s still lower than mine, ‘ma’am’.”

“Mm,” Maria nodded, agreeing with him. Her face grew closer to his, “I can only give you that. It was… very enjoyable.”

“Mn, you were delicious.” Phesx Caolia nodded too, before saying, showing the weight of those balls. Very heavy, just fitting with their…

Phesx Caolia felt her powerful standing banners atop the small mountains graze his torso skin, bringing him a shivering sensation, before she smiled and kissed him. Phesx Caolia looked at the time with his new clock. It was from his equipment as a soldier with that type of armor and uniform. He spoke while his tongue wasn’t his anymore. “We stiw gwot 30 minwtes… I’ll show you what a qwickwy ish.”

Kneading her bum with his hands, dexterous and already experienced of her body, Maria blushed and nodded, falling into yet another deep, long kiss as he worked the magic he’s learned.

… 25 minutes after Adams knocked on Phesx’s door. Phesx and Maria showed up at their squad’s meeting point, where everyone looked at them but dared say nothing because it was a matter related to their boss. Then, they moved to congregate with their platoon.

They would join a platoon of 60 elements, with 3 sections of 20 elements each. All of the same force, to go on solitary groups within the Centralized Parliament and take out as many enemies as possible. Anything that wasn’t Prona inside was a target to kill.

They were given a large truck, where more than 60 could fit. After 10 minutes of being briefed by an officer under the commanders, the segment of the column Maria’s squad belonged to was set on the move. They boarded the large truck and met the rest of their platoon again.

They had already known each other and trained near each other before, but never really went out with each other. However, they could identify themselves, even with helmets on.

Everyone sat for the first 20 minutes of the ride before the staff sergeant in charge went out with his section. He walked beside the large truck for half an hour before indicating the section Maria’s squad is from to do the same. After 30 minutes, the last section was also brought out to walk along the truck and watch the surroundings.

From then on, with only an hour of break after all sections participated, they would step down the truck and walk around it for 30 minutes.

After various breaks, Phesx Caolia and Diego, the squad’s technician, walked behind the truck while the rest of the column segment behind them advanced at the same pace. The column moved slow, as it was not just a few tens of thousands moving through tens of kilometers, especially throughout destroyed districts.

Diego is a white young man, with small, light brown eyes, and bright, chestnut curly hair. He’s tall but fat, and as the squad’s technician, he’s one of the 2 best in the entire platoon. Walking together, they chatted of the things Phesx Caolia has learned so far.

“How much have you learned by now?” Diego asked Phesx, referring to the classes for technicians. Phesx Caolia shrugged his shoulders, “I used to only use some basic things in the encampment before. Even now, I only know enough to be considered initiated.”

“And you? How are you in crafting?” Phesx thought before asking, politely continuing the conversation. Diego thought for a bit before replying, “I guess a little worse than my tech part. I always struggled with it. I don’t have such fine hands for little details. It’s strange, right? Anyway, I struggle with crafting the most, but not when I have to do my job as a technician. I’m wired like that.”

“Mm,” Phesx Caolia was nodding his head until Diego said that last phrase. He exclaimed and looked at the ground. Diego noticed before clearing his throat. “Ahem, well. I’m just like that.”

Phesx Caolia nodded a few more times, saying nothing. Diego added, patting his chest. “Anyway, I’ll teach you as much as I can in the parliament. There’s not much to work with there, though. I heard there are some transporting carts left inside, and if we find a machine gun…”

“You see, there were times that the Centralized Parliament had to move many things in short periods of time, as there was a lot of work in there. One person couldn’t bring a heavy load from one side of the place to another, right? And using a lot of personnel for that matter would just slow things elsewhere. That’s why the carts were introduced nearly 200 years ago. It has only been improving since then.”

“The best thing is, they are powered by power energy from Pugor with mini power plants under the precinct to recharge them. It’s gonna be fun inside.” Diego said, rubbing his palms in anticipation. Phesx looked confused and asked, “Pugor?”

“Right, you’ve been very little in the military, and Prequa has always been above Prei section, but not ours.” Diego jolted his head backwards before elaborating, “Pugor is just one of the resources the world fights for and has become tensed over. You know, outside this little cage.”

“Oh~,” Phesx Caolia raised his eyebrows, intrigued. Diego smirked and elbowed his right shoulder, “Now you’re interested, ah? Heh heh! I’ll teach you something about it when the time comes. I don’t know much about Pugor, only the ‘basics’.”

Phesx Caolia grinned at Diego’s words. Then, Diego got closer to Phesx and ambiguously asked, “So? How was the squad leader? Did she dominate you? Or is she more passio-”

“Hey…” Phesx Caolia elbowed the fat guy away, making him smirk even harder. He went back and asked again, “At least tell me, are you a thing now?”

“We’re not a thing,” Phesx Caolia said, confirming with a firm tone but casual. He then looked up and thought before adding, “But we have grown closer, yeah.”

“Hahahaha,” Diego crackled about. When he relaxed, and the journey ahead became relaxing and silent, he asked Phesx with a brotherly tone, “How is your life? Used to the military life?”

“…-” Phesx Caolia opened his mouth, going to respond after thinking for 2 seconds with a light frown and looking down. But it was neither of both their voices who went to the other’s ears. “Hellcat! Diego, will you let me speak with him alone?”

They looked ahead at the staff sergeant, who walked towards them and addressed Diego. Diego’s attitude changed. He saluted and nodded before leaving Phesx Caolia with the staff sergeant, “Yes, sir!”

“…” Phesx Caolia and the officer exchanged eyes before the latter took Diego’s spot and walked side by side with him. Phesx gave him another stare before staring ahead. The officer finally spoke in a slightly comforting tone. “How were you before, leading a team? Or working inside one, under someone else’s orders?”

“I did my best,” Phesx responded. The officer immediately continued, but didn’t try pressing on Phesx for an ‘honest’ answer. “What did you feel in those moments? Until now?”

“I’m not to be made a leader, sir. I’m good at working with others, too. But I sometimes go ahead of them and don’t notice when…” Phesx Caolia stopped for a moment. The officer thinly smiled a little and finished for him, “They are left behind?”

“Well, Hellcat. I’m not here to give you lessons of being a leader when you don’t want them, expecting you to lead in the future to victory, saving us all from defeat.” The staff sergeant said, taking a pin out of his left chest pocket before giving it to his right palm. Phesx couldn’t refuse. It was mandatory as a military personnel, as per the rules. The officer continued, “But while I disavow why the commander wants this for you… If anything happens to me, this is your platoon to direct.”

“…” Phesx Caolia looked at the officer with the pin on his palm, further holding it with his fingers. The officer shook his head a bit, “Oh, don’t look at me like that. I may look middle-aged, but I’m still not 60. I don’t want a newbie getting his hands on my sub-sub unit. Either way, orders are such. I trust my superiors. Now, you will have, too.”

“Stay behind and don’t get into enemy firing lines when the time comes. My platoon won’t fall into disorder if we both die, but this isn’t just a symbolism in Prona, it is honor.” The officer shook his head, looking at the ground. “I have no idea why the commander chose that. Even miss Maria was the one to send this message. Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t let go of such an obvious hint.”

“…” Phesx Caolia stopped, startled. The officer left without saying goodbye, quite rudely. But Phesx Caolia was only thinking of those last words before tilting his head to the right. ‘Ah.’

… The day continued moving. When night came close, the soft front lights of every vehicle turned off and stopped moving. By then, tents had been pitched up everywhere, with the supplies safe from the environment, and the soldiers resting with their military units.

Forces of equal importance as the staff sergeant’s platoon were divided into full platoons like these, but the rest of Prona’s mobilized force was amassed in the hundreds, further segmented in thousands along the column.

While Maria’s squad was already resting, with Adams and others lying with their partners, Phesx was elsewhere.

Atop a small hill, Phesx Caolia lied on the short, soft grass with his hands behind his back and his eyes closed, facing up. He felt the breeze and night moistness, warming the refreshing atmosphere. It felt like on a beach, as he went to one when he was a little kid with his mother’s family.

With so much urban destruction, it spread everywhere, reminding Preut how close it was to the sea. Although some foul smells sneaked through air currents at times, probably from the rapidly decaying forests.

“Leaving your position,” Maria’s voice finally arrived after Phesx heard her light footsteps from afar. “Do you really think that pin won’t matter if we return alive?”

Maria sat on his right, with her right knee up and her left leg lying on the grass, folded. Her right foot near her left knee. She was tomboyish, just to somebody’s tastes.

Sitting up, Phesx looked at her but said nothing and just flashed a smile. Maria looked at the sky after receiving his greeting. Then, she sighed and looked down. Looking away from him, she came closer to him, cuddling her left arm, shoulder, side of her head, and body to his chest and cross-legged position.

Whiffing her hair’s scent into his nostrils, nothing lavish, but feminine and natural, Phesx Caolia felt his humane body react. But he simply hugged her shoulders with his right arm and supported himself with the other. Everything in silence.

“How were you ‘demoted’ from the special forces of Prona?” Phesx Caolia asked, looking far ahead into the pure dark that Preut has become used to for the last several months. Maria murmured, blowing slight air into his neck’s apple.

“It happened during the civil war’s beginning.” Her voice seemed tired. “When the total power of the country fell on every surviving wealthy figure, or military officer. I was offered something worth dying for… that I refused.”

“I can imagine,” Phesx Caolia lightly commented. He felt Maria’s arms slowly hug him afterwards. Then, he heard her voice again, “Prequa is below a worldwide weak military in foundation, Prei is worse off and only has numbers, all buying their guns and ammunition from who knows where and whom.”

“Prona has the best equipment, having always sold the best and largest quality of our country’s unique wood. These uniforms were already outdated when they were bought more than 100 years ago. Functional, but lacking things the world uses nowadays. Only the armor is considered within our timeline, but it is also very low in quality.”

“Yet, Prona has also focused more on its military. We are the better equipped and most capable, but we have fewer people, and the resources to remain self-sufficient in the civil war are not ours. The storage is growing thinner… but there’s some who still think like animals, with sex.” Maria snuggled her face on his neck, making him feel the tip of her nose.

“In Prona, the corruption spread to its military. Every section amassed ammunition and food supplies to last for 10 years of war, but the first thing that happened was the demotion of many soldiers. Other wealthy figures disappeared after the war. Male or female, half of pronas’ higher-ups are like this.”

Maria smooched his neck, quite cutely, before facing him with only a few centimeters of air between them. “You have to be careful if we win this.”

“Oh,” Phesx Caolia nodded, almost eskimo kissing her. Then, he thought of something before asking her with slightly widened eyes. “Even of you?”

“What do you think?” Maria tilted her head to the right and replied. Phesx Caolia smiled; Maria smiled before holding his jaw. “Sometimes, you’re pretty intelligent. I wonder…”

She looked at him and stopped, creating a short pause. Phesx Caolia tilted his head to the right and whispered. “What would our kids be like?”

“Maybe too intelligent.” Maria rolled her eyes, her intrusive thoughts read through, before kissing him. After traces of saliva fell down their chins and their clothes while cuddling so tightly, Phesx looked at her, silent and intently.

After the little prank, Maria recomposed, but she wanted it now, and her behavior made it apparent. She stared at him as if confirming something time and again before whispering into his ear, undoing his collar. “It was a similar pin, of a higher demand, one enough to command thousands of others like us. But none of it mattered, not when I wouldn’t be me, nor gain it for myself.”

“Maybe that’s just my luck for not being born elsewhere. Where I could grow and not depend on how much I’m willing to demote myself to an animal.” Maria expressed before eskimo kissing him left and right, hugging his neck with her elbows near his shoulders, before opening and looking straight into his eyes.

Celeste and light black met.

“You’re a kid, but… I feel we help each other well. Now, I have no pin, but you’ve got mine. ‘They’ still have ‘unused’ pins for later, still thinking they’re immortal. Yet, no one has what you’ve taken from me. Sorry if I didn’t directly tell you to wear it. It had to be official to be immediately effective, and the staff sergeant giving it to you officialized it.”

Phesx Caolia looked into her eyes. He knew Maria wasn’t talking about the pin, that of which he took from her. Smiling, he pushed his head upward, meeting her face and feeling its skin again. Then, feeling playful, he made her smooch each other’s protruding lips before saying, “You know, you’ve technically raped me.”

“Mn.” With her eyes closed and her lips still moving to do more tender kisses, Maria slowly lifted her eyelids, wondering what gives the void of his lips, before grabbing his shirt’s collar with no jacket on top. “Then let me rape you more… shut up, and fuck me.”

With but a whisper, Phesx Caolia’s mind rumbled. He found his hands grabbing her waist, before they moved further down and up, grabbing, pinching, sensually caressing. It had just begun. When their warmth commenced heating the other, both thought, ‘Here I thought it was a one-time thing…’

. . .

3 days after departing from the headquarters, the Prona column approached the Centralized Parliament. It had been a slightly long trip, more than anticipated, but they pulled it off with ease.

All 3 sections have been informed with their intelligence gathering. Prei brought 300k soldiers to attend this event, one that ‘should’ve’ happened long ago. Prona made their way to the Centralized Parliament with 180k soldiers, while Prequa only brought 140k.

However, it is more or less recognized that Prequa ‘gained’ many artillery guns, and other things, in the past month from who knew where. They brought the least military vehicles, but they brought at least 3 times more trailers than Prei and Prequa added together.

Furthermore, there were the criminal scum and paramilitary groups, who have been lurking since the civil war began. Phesx Caolia never experienced it, and only saw signs of it when the war commenced. Groups of civilians planned to form ‘fortresses’ to defend themselves, grabbing whichever weapon they could find and forming a force with such.

The criminals amounted to an actual fearsome number of 400k, but the portion that had any weapon or explosive was minimal, too small. However, these people formed all around Preut, and like the paramilitaries, they were looking at the Centralized Parliament after the armies set out. On the other hand, still scary, the joint paramilitary groups amounted to 250k.

The paramilitary groups joined each other on the way to the Centralized Parliament, finding and killing any scum they found, even depicting vicious acts of impaling their heads or hanging them bare and dead.

They had more weapons, and while some ex-militaries aided the cause, training, and some ‘arsenal’. It was another party without rule. Even with their weapons, which were already a tremendous disadvantage, they couldn’t do much. However, both ‘rogue’ sides would participate.

They didn’t just come to the Centralized Parliament to watch like it was a football match. No, this was more important… and suddenly, it became all too deadly.

After leaving the last corner of the districts, destroyed and desolate, under a light rain that has lasted since yesterday, Prona advanced through the field, more than 1 kilometer from the forest. Their path led directly to the northeastern tower that once corresponded to Prona’s role in the parliament.

It was vacant and without personnel now, with their members, even from the military and wealthy, assassinated by the preis and preqs. Naturally, each section assassinated the others’ towers’ personnel, leaving no survivor to aid before the dispute began. All unbeknownst to the entire Preutian population.

However, these towers were built to protect against even nowadays bombers, let alone ‘simple’ artillery. It would take too long. Besides, although they were armies, they had little experience with anything that isn’t raw infantry.

It was just better to aim at the other sides’ numbers; to scare or decimate.

Atop a hill, the Prona column spread and prepared their military vehicles at the back, while the trailers brought the artillery forth. They were about 1.5 km from their tower, but 5-10 kilometers away from each other. Preis, pronas, preqs, and the rogue groups were all standing still.

With little communication room, only using radio and helicopter scouting from afar, each military camp was wary against each other. All armies were prepared to move in the afternoon, having finished preparations, and installing their artillery guns on their heavy, wide, and large military vehicles.

Like the other section, squad, and team leaders, Maria remained behind with the other forces, waiting for the order to advance, but Phesx Caolia stood with the platoon leader ahead. They stood slightly away from other watching military officers, who were similarly with their second-in-command, and devising the field ahead. Including the enemies’.
