[ARC 4] Chapter 84 - Moon Cleaver

The power that Riot unleashed was enough to engulf the entire world. With one swing of his bone axe, he cleaved the world. A bright light sliced the room in two, and the floor underneath them collapsed.

While they fell, Riot could not help but laugh at the futile attempts the lumberjack made to right himself in the air. He had no need to right himself anymore. He was a god. He-

The grimoire girl was there in a dark room. She gave him a stern look.

I’m going to wake you up now.

She slapped him.

When he came to, the lumberjack chopped at him. Riot bit down at the axe breaking it in two.

Chad clicked his tongue, and he reached for his item box for another axe.

“You cannot defeat me.” Riot grabbed at a rock and pulled himself out of the floor. Blood dribbled from his head like a flash rain. “I have ascended into godhood. I am now the God of Axes.”

“The God of Axes?” The lumberjack blinked at that. “So, you have followers that worship axes?”

“No, they worship me. Because I use an axe, just like how Thor has a magic hammer.”

“Yeah, but Thor is a God of Thunder, he isn’t the God of Hammers. No one worships Thor for the hammer.”

“Do not speak to me, the God of Axes!” Riot cut the world again. The lumberjack looked around confused at what Riot had just unleashed. “Fool. You are already dead.”

“I’m not sure what you mean by that…”

“Just like a last time, the world has been cut by my brilliant light. You have already been cut in two. If you move just one inch away from that spot, your body will split in two, and you shall perish!”

Chad looked down at his body. He patted his chest to assure that he hadn’t been cut, but Riot had done more than that. Riot laughed at the foolish man.

“You fool! Do you not think I have already thought of that? When you move even an inch from that spot, you will die!”

“So, you cut me?”

“Yes!”

“But your axe did not reach me at all.”

“But it did.”

“You just cut swung the axe at the air.”

“Is that what it looked like to you? Such as a sad man.” Riot shook his head. “Can’t even see the brilliant light that came with it. Just shows how amazing I am.”

“There was no light at all, bro. You just swung at the air. Like, I’m one hundred percent sure that I am not dead, and that if I go towards you, I will not split in two.”

“Foolish Chad the Lumberjack.” Riot tutted and shook his head, feeling sorry for the man. “I promise to take care of my waifu for you. I may even name my first-born son after you.”

“Alright, I’m just going to move now.”

Light cleaved through the ceiling, just as he expected. The ceiling dropped on top of them, and the lumberjack weaved through the raining rock chunks. Riot had no need to do that anymore. He was no longer mortal. He was a God! He was-

Something smacked him on the head, and he was back in the dark room with the little grimoire girl. Her lips twisted in a pout, and she pointed at him.

You’re not a god, stop being foolish! Wake up again!

He was back in the room, and once more the lumberjack was about to swing down his axe. Riot kicked the man, he flew in an arch a couple of feet away, landing behind a giant chunk of ceiling. Riot pulled himself up and touched at his throbbing head.

“So, you have a potion don’t you?” Riot called out. “How else would you be alive after I cleaved the entire world?”

“No potion, bro. You seriously did not cut me.” His retort echoed through the underground cavern.

“Lies!” Riot unleashed another axe swing. “I have done it once more, once you move you will be nothing but dust this time.”

“I highly doubt it.”

“Prepare yourself then!” Riot swung his axe, and the room flashed with brilliant light.

“You got to be kidding me,” Chad looked back, but the fool should have looked at Riot instead. His attack had already begun.

The wall behind him exploded, and he was forced to jump off the rock. Riot laughed hard, knowing that his attack had worked, but the lumberjack had skillfully dodged it.

He was surprised how lithe the bulky lumberjack seemed to be, but if it was a contest of being lithe and jumping around, Riot was sure he could do it now. He leapt and followed the lumberjack, and each time he swung his axe, light shined.

Walls and rocks exploded, and Chad screamed.

“I know all of these are coincidences, but I’m being serious, you are not doing any of this!”

“Take my Swing of Holy Lights, you shall perish in its beauty!”

Chad blocked his axe with his own.

It flew out of his hand. His eyes widened in sheer surprise, and he stepped back as he examined the cut across his chest. He had been very lucky. It had been shallow.

That didn’t stop Riot from continuing his swings.

“Take the Blow of Thor!”

He swung down. Chad had more sense this time to step out of the way, and the ground blew into a hole.

Laughter filled the air. Riot had never felt so powerful before. Each swing felt more powerful than the last. His body felt as light as a feather, and yet as flexible and lithe as a cat’s. Where Chad ran, Riot followed.

Chad dodged one of Riot’s blows and kicked him in the gut. He twirled in the air, landing on his feet.

“I clearly underestimated you,” Chad said. He retrieved Moon Cleaver. “So, I’m going to have to use my greatest ability.”

“No weapon can hold me down.”

There was screaming in his head, if he had to guess, it was an applause. The voice told him it was a warning, and he was stupid.

He needed to run.

Riot ignored the voice because he knew his strength. He was strong enough to take down this Lumberjack, and regain his wife’s hand. He would-

“I’m going to end this now.”

A shining moon filled his vision.

Then, Riot crumpled.
