Chapter 48: Aerial Arrival!

Alissa wanted to smash Madeleine’s smiling teeth in! How stupid could this woman be? Those she want the spotlight so much that she’d risk her life? Alissa frowned, stepping past Madeleine as she walked into the church, “Let’s make sure not to waste— ugh.”

Of course, what had they expected?

Before Alissa and the other demons, a covenant of heroes and hunters gathered, and they drew their blades and guns, aiming at the group. Alissa glanced around, counting the group of heroes and hunters here to be well off into the hundreds.

“Felicia?” One of the hunters called, staring at a woman amongst the group, confusing settling in his gaze. He turned to Alissa, and then the others, “What are you doing meddling with these demons Felicia? Get away from them this instant!”

Alissa raised a brow, turning to the woman in question. She had her head bowed, and refused to meet the man’s gaze. Alissa frowned, then sighed, entering a battle stance, “If your beloved is among them, you can sit this out. The others who are confident in their skills — attack!”

“What do you mean? How dare you demons force humans to do your bidding?” The man roared, aiming his gun at Alissa and unloading it in her face. She ignored the bullets, rushing forward with an intense gleam in her eyes, and the man turned frantic, “Die demon! Drop down and die!”

“Stop it, Frank.” One of the men, dressed in flowing gold robes, opened his mouth to speak. After getting Frank’s attention, the man dressed in gold robes swayed his hand and spoke in a cold tone, “I understand your pain. Sadly, these people are dead and are no longer humans.”

Alissa continued the charge, leaping into the air and drawing back her fist. A few stood back and the bulk of the church turned demons followed her, and they joined her in attacking the hunters. The heroes, denoted by the amount of gold they wore, stood and watched from the back lines.

“No longer human?” Frank watched as the ‘humans’ ripped the hunters to shreds, unfailing even as bullets were fired into their bodies. His eyes shook watching this, and he turned to Felicia, “They’d killed her? She’s a monster like the others now… Why? For what reason would they do this?”

“Because they are evil demons.” The man snapped his fingers, and an arrow flew across the air, striking one of the ‘demon’ men in the head, and exploding in a bright gold flame. Alissa watched in shock as the man fell to the ground, growing still. The heroes stared upon them, unfazed.

Arrows shrouded the sky, and Alissa turned around to stare with a stunned face. Then, her gaze turned resolute and she shouted at the top of her lungs, “Charge forward! Do not allow any of their arrows to reach your head! It’s overflowing with holy energy.”

Hearing her, the men and women ran forward like man animals. The hunters retaliated fiercely and a bloodbath ensued, but Alissa did not have time to get caught in their scuffle. She leaped into the air, rushing towards their back line with her gaze as cold as ice.

Her gaze focused on the man dressed in golden robes, and as he noticed her charging towards him, he scoffed. Alissa leapt into the air, then her eyes exploded in a fierce purple glow. The heroes watched in silence as she landed on the ground, creating a massive shock wave.

Hunters were tossed into the air, stunned as their back line was broken in an instant. Alissa did not linger, leaping forward again and charging for the robed man. Alissa grinned as they drew their weapons and entered battle stances, aiming to rip her to shreds once she got close.

She was weaponless, and they outnumbered her.

Alissa got closed, and one of the heroes — a man with long golden hair wearing their common golden armour — slashed with his blade. She dodged the attack, closing in and slamming her hand in his face with all her might, and the sheer power of the attack busted it in a splatter of blood.

Another hero tried to catch her off guard, swinging his blade from behind to decapitate her, but Alissa spun around at the last second and grabbed him by the face. She crushed his face in her hand then tossed his body to the side like a rag doll, then the others grew wary of her.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“She killed two of them in an instant? Interesting.” The robes man sighed, then smiled. He raised a hand, then swung it down, and a pressure landed on the area, forcing everyone except Alissa and the heroes to their knees, “Hmm. She can resist the pressure this well, I see.”

Alissa felt her knees wobbling, and her shoulders heavy. She struggled to keep her neck straight, and felt like a hundred people had seated themselves on her back. Taking a step forward, the ground beneath her sunk, and her gaze hardened, “How many humans have you killed?”

“Huh?” The robed man blinked, then he frowned, “Did I not hear you right? Are you asking how many humans I have killed? For what reason? You are a demon, and you should busy yourself with demonic affairs. The lives of humans should not concern you.”

“But, it does…” Alissa looked up to the sky, and smiled, “I was once a human before I became the demon, I have not lost my sentiments. It’s because of that I came here today, to end the tyranny of all those who control the church. You rotten lot do not cure, but curse all you touch.”

“Really?” A woman holding a staff in one hand, and a dagger in the other joined in, her long hair fluttering in the wind. She laughed, then after a minute of laughter, she wiped the tear off her cheeks and cleared her throat, “I don’t think you understand how much of a failure you are, demon.”

Alissa’s grin grew, “I may not be strong enough to kill you, but I know demons who can, and my stall was… heh… very successful. Look around you for a second. Your hunters are no longer in their prime, and you were forced to use your pressure to stop the massacre.”

“And so what?” The woman aimed her staff at Alissa, “In a few seconds, the wrath of our Lord is going to rend you asunder. All that you are allowed now is patience, because your ticket to hell—”

“Half. Half of the demons from the two churches. I don’t know what’s the holdup, but that was all I needed to buy her time. Madeleine did her best, didn’t she?” Alissa cracked her neck, and she felt it, a surge of energy from within — the pressure weakening around her, “You owe me one.”

Something crashed on the church spires and created an explosive shock wave, the force from the crash sent the spires blasting into oblivion as the walls of the church building cracked up. The heroes turned to the church, shocked, watching flames rise into the air.

“Impossible…” The robed man muttered, watching the demon stand within the flames, “How did she evade the arrows? There should be no way she could have dodged them, unless—”

“She wasn’t in the atmosphere during the attack! Once you exhausted your tricks, she knew that it was time for a grand entrance.” Alissa laughed, dashing forward at a fast speed, ignoring the fierce pressure on her body, “You have already lost, fools.”

“Are these the heroes of the church?” Aysla glanced around, her eyes gleaming in a purple light as she entered a stance, then leaped forward, vanishing from sight. Once she appeared, she was on the ground with her hand buried in the robed man’s chest, “Pathetic. Very pathetic.”

“Gah!” He vomited blood, and the other heroes turned to face Aysla. They unsealed skills upon her, shrouding the area around her in layers upon layers of runic arrays, each exploding in a fierce gold glow — decimating the area around the demon. The man laughed, but it grew stale quickly.

All he saw was a flash of light, and the weight of a thousand trains crashed into his jaw. All the man could do was stare in shock as he was blown into the air, hurtling like a ragged doll. As he fell, so did the pressure he exerted upon the battlefield — and the situation changed.

“Lightning Tribulation!” The woman holding a staff aimed it at Aysla, then charged forward, her dagger spinning adeptly in her grasp. Lightning rained from the skies, expectant on ripping a demon to shreds — and it did. Seeing this, the woman frowned, “Are you mad?”

Alissa was torn apart, but her gaze remained resolute. Aysla charged forward while Aysla tanked the lightning tribulation damage, and before the woman could react, Aysla’s hammer slammed in her face, severing her neck from her body in a splatter of blood.

The others staggered back, letting loose their fireballs, auras and weapons on Aysla. She was in her demonic form, and took little damage from their attacks, the sole wing on her back stretching as Aysla walked forward, grasping the hammer in her hands. They were all clueless animals.

The other demons rushed the hunters as the pressure lifted from their bodies, ripping through their formations and forcing the men and woman to scatter in their frightened retreat, but they had sealed this place off to trap the demons in once they arrived, turning it into their burial ground.

“How dare you destroy our spires like that? And the walls? Do you demons even know what it’ll cost to have those repaired after we’re done with you?” A woman stepped out of the shadows, her long golden locks were accented by a lustrous silver, “Mark, my dearest, shall I kill this one?”

“The plan has already fallen apart. Once their boss arrives, then the situation could worse. They would have to die before he gets here.” The man standing beside her ignored her question, then he snapped a finger, “So demons, show us that tenacity you used in reaching us today.”

Aysla frowned, her eyes gleaming in a cold light, “So these are the strongest the church offers? It would be shameful if you cannot put up a good fight. Let us dance till daybreak, and see if the walls of your house won’t come crumbling down to dust…”
