Chapter 36: The Edge of Battle

Aysla looked around herself. To her left was Judas, to her right was Robert and before her stood Ryan holding a blade and behind her was Alissa’s fallen body. The bitch was not dead but they could be trouble if something was revealed with so many watching.

“Hey, demon.” Ryan jumped over her swung hammer, landing on the ground and darting forward to close the gap between them. He looked around for any escape paths to cut off but the woman was still, standing her ground with no signs of retreat, “Have you decided?”

“That is not something that you can accomplish.” Aysla said, swinging her hammer around. There was a cruel gleam in his eyes as he dashed around to dodging her violent outburst. She followed his movements coolly, chasing him with her hammer, “Because, I do want to die here.”

Bullets were fired and she leapt around to evade them, locked on Ryan. She made sure that the chance he looked for was not provided! She circled around with her back faced to Alissa, ensuring that Ryan never gained any chances to deal any further damage to Alissa.

Her hammer slammed into his frame, sending him staggering to the side. Before he recovered, Robert dashed past him to attack Aysla. As he jumped forward to take her while she was busy, the gleam of his blade grew cold and vile as his aura exploded to wrap them.

She grinned, dashing to the side, as he missed horribly. She flickered, his blade phasing through her body as her feet smashed into the side of his face. He staggered back, blood spurted out of both his nose and mouth. She chased, swinging her hammer fiercely.

Unlike Ryan, when her hammer collided with Robert there was a loud cracking sound and before he could react, he was blown into the air like a ragged doll, sent into a tumbling roll until he crashed into the wall of one of the houses — all the bones in his limp body broken.

Aysla chuckled then tilting her head to the side, dodged a bullet that whizzed past her — leaving a scorching wound on her cheek and exploding behind her. She lifted her hand to rub the wound, an icy gleam in her eyes as she spun around and dodged Ryan’s horizontal slash.

“Too weak.” She taunted, glaring down upon them with a coldness in her eyes as she leapt back, this time standing with Alissa laying before her. She frowned, a horn growing out of her head as she took a stance, preparing to reveal her true form to the newcomers.

“Wait!”

Everyone turned in the direction of the voice. Standing there was Mylos, a bright purple flame burning in his eyes as he held a hand, pointing his blade at the alerted Ryan and smirking. In those bright flames existed a vicious cold.

“Madeleine?” Robert stared at the woman that stepped forward to stand beside Mylos, his eyes a trembling mess as he took a wobbly step back. He gripped his dagger, trying to tighten his grip on his dagger, his eyes gleaming in a cold light.

“The Madeleine you know is dead, she failed to kill me.” Mylos spoke without stuttering, a wicked light in his eyes as he spun his blade and stepped back. He stopped with Madeleine before him, “You should get rid of them and I will grant you even more strength.”

A purple shone in her eyes as she stepped forth, her blade gleaming in a purple light. Before the others could react, she dashed forward and transformed into a blur of purple and golden, swinging her blade with a ferocious expertise.

Ryan lifted his blade to block, staggering back as his eyes widened from the sheer power behind the attack. He felt like a train had been thrown at him and he was forced to deflect it with his blade. A feat that left his hands numb and hairs standing on ends.

“Haha!” she laughed, her body surging with energies as she grasped her blade — her order had been consumed by the chaos, leaving only madness. She parted her mouth, revealing fangs gleaming in the light, a small horn visible on her head as her hair scattered in the wind, “This is amazing!”

“Isn’t it?” Mylos grinned as Aysla retreated behind him with Alissa, then his expression twisted to something unsightly as Madeleine leapt back to join them. Without warning, Judas fired a bullet, but he stepped to the side, and the bullet blew up the walls behind him.

Glowing purple eyes shone from within and the spectating humans with pale faces as a legion of demons rushed out. Judas fired at the demons, each strike blowing up a head in an instant, causing a legion to be wiped out in an instant.

“How did he gather this many demons?” turning to the side, Ryan was quite shocked. He shook off the feeling and dashed forward, transforming into a golden light that blasted through all of them, rushing for Mylos at a high speed, until—

Clang!

The demon woman stepped out and blocked his blade and he pressed hard and slowly pushed her back but before he could overpower her completely, a spinning tail slammed into his sides, and he staggered to the side, loosing his balance.

“Flicker—“ before she could finish, he twisted his upper body unnaturally and spun his blade, a gleam in his eyes. She parried his attack, and slashed down to counter but a bullet blasted into her head, knocking her off her feet and into the building behind her.

Ryan straightened his stance and dashed forth, turning into a golden light, spinning his blade to cleave off the master’s head. As his sword moved, his eyes gleamed in a fierce light and his grip was as hard as iron. Before he could accomplish it, Madeleine blocked with her blade.

She was too strong and before he could get a grasp of her ability, he was pushed back. The head of the ring leader was just a few moments from dropping, but this fool had to ruin that! How did she gain this much power in such a short time? Where was the limit of her strength?

He staggered back, panting as Robert dashed ahead. He swung his blade only to be deflected by Madeleine’s blade. The force of the collision sent him flying back in the air, until he crashed into the upper walls of a building, bleeding down the side of his face as he rolled to the ground.

“Heavens.” Judas cursed as he turned to the fallen Robert. He returned his gaze to Mylos who wore a cold grin on his face, and frowned. He took aimed with his gun and fired, but Mylos dashed out of range and appeared inches to the side. He missed the shot, successfully.

Judas frowned catching Madeleine rushing up to him out of the corner of his eye, his heart was as cold as ice as he spun around and fired a few shots to lock down her movements. When she was left with only a single path of advance, he reloaded his gun and fired again.

She leapt up, tanking the shot with her heart, throwing her weight at the stunned Judas as she swung her blade co coldly. As it threatened to decapitate him, he lifted his gun to block, bending to the side as the sheer force behind the sole attack overwhelmed him.

Ryan seeing that the guardian left its master undefended, charged for Mylos. There was a cold gleam in his eyes as he swung his blade, its edge creating a vicious arc of light, but before it could connect with flesh, a body appeared to block it with

Ryan sidestepped, spinning his blade. Before he could unleash a follow-up attack, Aysla appeared beside him, and her feet connected with his face. He was kicked to the side, and Alissa dashed forth a moment later, hefting the hammer in her hand, then swinging it in a wicked curve.

On the other hand,

Judas clenched his teeth as Madeleine pressed her weight upon him, he prepared to fall off into the car at any second. She bore down upon him like a mountain and he did not want her to have an opportunity in chasing into the vehicle, so, he attacked!

Judas swung his fist and smashed Madeleine in the eye, flinging her head back. He dragged his weapon from beneath her as she lost her balance, her blade slamming into the car’s roof. Then he tightened his grasp, and swung his gun like a bat,

Boom!

The weapon smashed into her face, stunning her for a second. Judas was as fast as lightning as he slipped into the vehicle, squeezing through the seats and rushing for the wheels, “Damn,” Judas frowned as he ignited the engine, the vehicle roaring in response.

As Madeleine smashed a hole in the roof, Judas felt a vein pop in his head and he stepped on the reverse. The tires spun and screeching filled their ears, then the car jerked back at a fast speed and Madeleine lost her balance, falling like a log.

She stood to her feet in an instant, then she turned to face the car. Madeleine prepared to dash forward and rip the moron out of the car! She would— and the car jerked forward and rammed in her, sending her into a slide, until she was metres back.

“That’s enough you apes!” Mylos waved his hands, and everyone turned to him. He snapped his finger and the lights, once still and shining bright, flickered. A demon convulsed on the ground, and their head splattered across the ground beneath them, regenerated.

It was not one — to the terror of the humans — but each and everyone of the demons.
