Chapter 32. Soul crystals.

Naath inside of the formation was circulating the empty soul method and going over every last little bit of information over his two lives. As he went he removed any flaws in these memories and made sure everything was correct. As time passes in one's life their memories will slowly alter and small details will be changed or forgotten. To cleanse one's soul energy you have to remove these changes and inconsistencies in these memories. This is a long and laborious process and the more soul energy you have the more spread out through the energy these memories become.

For a soul to reach complete clarity and for all the memories to be proper takes nine cycles of reviewing one's own memories and pruning the mistakes. Through this process of doing it nine times, you begin to see your true self and that will move you into transitioning to soul opening. Naath was halfway through his first cycle of memories, to him it was like watching a movie playing in his soul sea and he had to spot the plot holes. While reliving all of these things occasionally his physical body would react, at times he would smile, at others he would laugh hysterically.

From time to time it would flinch remembering the physical pain of certain events from earth. At times silent tears would roll down the side of his face, he was remembering every little detail about his life on earth and his new life so far here. At this point of a week passing Naath had now gone through nine-tenths of all of his memories. He was now moving on to his memories of this world. At times his aura would change and it would seem like it didn't exist. At other times Naath would grit his teeth remembering his bones shattering.

When he reached the memory of the fear formation his true void arts circulated automatically once more. However, this only lasted for the briefest moment before they once more became silent. They kicked up once again when he was remembering the runes sealing. This time it lasted for a few minutes and stole the most minuscule amount of energy from the formation. Finally, Naath was done reviewing all of his memories after a week and two days. He opened his eyes and let out a breath relaxing his body completely. When Naath opened his eyes they seemed clearer and it was almost like his eyes were glowing a dull emerald green.

This small detail did not miss elder Gui’s attention and he stuttered for a moment. “No… no there's no way. T-this, does he have a crystal soul? But that would mean his soul energy… I have truly found a little monster of a disciple, oh heavens what gifts did you not give this child?”

As if in response to this question a light rumble of thunder sounded from high in the sky despite the bright clear and sunny day. Elder Gui jumped and his eyes expanded to the size of saucers as he thought “T-THE HEAVENS RESPONDED?!” Although it was only light thunder, elder Gui’s entire body stiffened.

He felt like he was struck by lightning despite none occurring. The way he looked at Naath changed completely. A certain myth appeared in his mind but he shook his head and waved it off because the thought of that was simply too much for him to bear. Naath in the formation was completely unaware of all of this. He had once more closed his eyes and began to use the empty soul method to cultivate his soul. After one circulation of it and clearing his memories already he had reached the second level of the soul discovery realm. Now he was going back into his memories to refine them further.

This time it took three weeks in order for him to sort through them all. He opened his eyes again after this time and his eyes had a glow that was ever so slightly stronger than last time. The rune in Naath’s soul sea was watching the almost ocean-like liquid soul energy cautiously. It was as though the rune had thought of something but did not want to accept it as true so he tensely observed the changes in Naath’s soul sea. After Naath finished his second cycle, the rune was silently feeling a bone-deep fear and watching unblinkingly as Naath continued his next cycle.

Naath began to run the empty soul method again to go over his memories for the third time. This time around the entire process took a month and a half, when Naath was finished he did as he had done before opening his eyes and letting out a breath in order to relax and rest for a moment. When he did so the light emerald green glow had become more apparent. Elder Gui felt as though if this continued Naath’s eyes would gain the ability to peer at a person's soul. Again an ancient myth appeared in his mind.

However, this time he took more than just a moment to rid himself of this thought. Even after getting rid of this thought, it was in the back of his head and he couldn’t get rid of an odd feeling of premonition. Elder Gui looked away from the formation and disappeared into the air, moments later at the raging river sect's great library that they had been building up for hundreds of years, he had appeared. He showed his elders badge and walked directly into the forbidden section of the library where they stored all of their ancient books. Even the youngest book here was several thousand years old, he slowly browsed the books until he found what he was after.

He unleashed a wave of his soul energy over the book and scanned its contents getting a rough idea of all of the information it contained. After doing so his eyes held a trace of surprise and un-concealable elation. He put the book back and once more vanished, reappearing outside the formation where Naath was once more running the empty soul method. Inside of Naath’s soul sea, the soul energy was undergoing changes with the watchful gaze of the rune. It was slowly becoming clearer and clearer, after 2 months it had a light glow on the surface as Naath finished his fourth cycle.

The rune was now vibrating in place as if shaking in terror at what he was witnessing. Outside when Naath once more opened his eyes, elder Gui was shaking from pure elation and excitement. Naath’s eyes contained a slightly stronger glow once more, he was completely unaware of all of this. Naath only noticed that his vision seemed slightly clearer. Naath shrugged it off however and continued to his next stage of soul cultivation, he knew he had reached the required level to leave the formation. However, he felt like personally clearing all of his memories and knowing his own lives perfectly was too good an opportunity to pass up.

This was his fifth time circulating and the time almost doubled again this time taking three months and 20 days. Inside of his soul sea, the soul liquid ocean seemed to become clearer and clearer and the slight glow became more apparent. However, another change occurred that had the rune in a state of almost complete panic, the liquid soul energy ocean began to shrink ever so slightly becoming a little more condensed. Unknown to Naath his birthday had come and gone, he was now ten years of age. Naath continued this cycle for three more cycles, each almost doubling the time it took.

Silently three more years passed and Naath reached 13 years old completely focusing on his cultivation. Now it was a common occurrence for the sect master to drop by and talk with elder Gui and check up on Naath. The other elders would also come by to check up on the young genius, each time Naath would open his eyes, everyone would gather and silently whisper to each other about a certain old myth. The glow in Naath’s eyes had become bright enough so it could not be ignored at all. Inside of Naath’s soul sea his soul energy had condensed again and again.

Before it could be compared to an ocean of liquid soul energy however now it was simply like a large lake. The rune was in a state of utter misery it could no longer deny what it was thinking but did not say it out loud so Naath could not hear. More importantly than that, it said nothing so the heavens wouldn't hear. Naath letting out a long breath once more went into his ninth and final cycle for the soul discovery realm. As elder Gui felt this he gasped loudly and immediately summoned the sect master. At this time the sect master was in the middle of a meeting with a few other 12th grade sects’ masters however, he immediately dropped the meeting and appeared outside the formation Naath was in.

Not only this, all of the elders in the sect were summoned with the other sect masters being invited as well. When the elders not familiar with Naath as well as the sect masters asked why this was so important the sect master said, “you are about to witness the revival of an ancient myth.”

None of them pried further as it was clear the sect master would not elaborate no matter how they asked so they simply watched with interest. In Naath’s soul sea his soul energy was condensing more and more, finally, a light ringing sound resounded through it and a small crystal appeared in the center. The rune lamented saying out loud, “Soul crystals!”
