Chapter 23. Perfect bones

Chapter 23. Perfect bones

Naath began circulating his true void arts drawing in energy however after his several fits of rage earlier the efficiency had increased. More than that Naath realised how to circulate the true void arts more efficiently. Now every time he ran them he could achieve about 50% of the level he achieved in the fear formation during the exam. Faint sounds of wind whistling around Naath could be heard as he drew in energy and began to compress it over and over again in his bones. As he circulated his true void arts a faint and invisible mist appeared on the surface of Naath’s skin. Everything that it came into contact with was converted to pure energy and absorbed by Naath. After an hour Naath was an inch lower into the ground from his true void mist absorbing the earth below him.

Naath realised this and shook his head saying to himself “seems like I need to work on my control over the true void energy a bit.” The rune in Naath’s soul sea silently nodded in approval, glad Naath finally started to realise the importance of energy control. Naath stopped compressing the energy in his bones now and focused on the true void mist outside of his body. Right now he was trying to draw all of it onto just his right hand, slowly the true void mist made its way to his right hand. It was a snail's pace compared to what Naath wanted.

Clicking his tongue in displeasure Naath increased his focus on his right hand and tried to get the true void mist to gather faster. However, to Naath’s displeasure, it was still moving at the same speed. Naath’s face soured slightly at this and he let out a breath of annoyance. After all of the true void mist was all gathered around his right hand it was an inch thick and seemed to absorb energy much faster as its density was increasing. The more Naath focused the denser it got as it slowly compressed. After ten minutes it was 7/8ths of an inch thick. An hour later it was only an eighth of an inch in thickness but it was incredibly dense.

Naath was satisfied and nodded his head and then brought his focus on to his left hand working on getting the true void mist to travel there. After two hours he had it on his left hand and was as compressed as before. After this, he brought it down to his left foot and then over to his right, and then brought it back up to his right hand. Naath continued to work with this cycle in order to train his control over his true void energy. After a full 24 hours, Naath’s control had increased and the true void mist was moving ever so slightly faster. Naath stopped at this point and did some calculation in his head.

According to his estimations, it would take at least a week for his control to increase by even half of what it was originally. Naath nodded his head at this thought knowing that if he ever wanted to use the true void arts the way he did, he would need to be able to summon true void energy anywhere on or in his body instantly. At his current rate of progress in his control training that would take at least a year of nothing but constant training maybe more. Naath decided that for now he would train it only for four hours a day. Other than that Naath would allocate a single hour to eat and cook.

The rest of his time was spent cultivating and drawing in energy constantly. However now Naath made it so no part of his body in contact with what he was sitting on had a layer of true void mist on it. This allowed the rest of it in other areas to be slightly denser and because he was no longer absorbing earth energy his rate of drawing in energy simply stayed the same. This routine continued for a few days before Naath heard a popping sound that didn't come from his own body, Naath turned his head and saw it came from Brutus. Naath smiled slightly and had a thought.

His expression became cold as he thought it and he asked, “hey old rune, do you know any ways to transmit information to Brutus? Specifically, a cultivation method.” As Naath spoke his voice was cold and filled with seemingly endless hatred.

The rune was ecstatic for actually being recognised and said, “yes Naath, there is a way. The first step is to have Brutus lower the guard around his soul. After that you can use your soul energy to write it into his soul and teach it to him.” Naath nodded and said, “thank you.” He may hate the rune now down to his very core, but helping Brutus was something worth his thanks.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Naath waited until Brutus had finished rebuilding his skeletal structure and then smiled at him when he opened his eyes. Naath said, “Brutus, I know I've been cold lately, however, to make it up to you I want to give you a special cultivation method. It will let you progress much faster than you are right now, it will also give you a wind elemental affinity. But I need you to lower the guard on your soul so I can teach you everything okay?”

Brutus nodded his head at Naath’s words and then walked in front of Naath and lowered his head waiting. Naath reached his hand out and placed it on top of Brutus’s head. Naath slowly and carefully let some of his own soul energy flow into Brutus’s soul.

Naath slowly began to transmit the information into Brutus’s soul through his own soul energy. Naath passed on a cultivation method he had come up with before his true void arts. It was about a third as potent, however, it was simply a cultivation method alone. It would not help later for much more than cultivation and maybe some basic abilities. Once one reached the fifth level of this cultivation method it had the special ability to allow flight. It also allowed for incredible control over wind and the surrounding air. Compared to the true void arts it was lackluster, however if this cultivation method were to be revealed to the outside world it would cause a bloody war for it.

Naath also gave Brutus the information about compressing the energy in his bones, and how to use the whirlwind energy from this new cultivation to give himself a unique physique. After all this Naath removed his own soul energy and nodded to Brutus. Brutus opened his eyes and they went wide as he processed all of the information. As he began wagging his tail, and he yipped excitedly tackling Naath to the ground, licking his face. Naath started laughing at this and after regaining his senses a moment later pushed Brutus off. After that Naath took out some boar meat from a raging boar they had found and began to roast it over a fire. After a feast the two of them both sat down and began to cultivate.

After this Naath and Brutus were completely devoted to cultivation, a week later Naath opened his eyes again hearing a slight whooshing noise. Naath saw the start of a faint whirlwind around Brutus causing him to smile. This meant he was progressing with the whirlwind arts at a good pace. To have the starting signs like this was the entry stage of the first level. Naath nodded, closing his eyes going back to his own cultivation. Three weeks later a crackling noise came from Naath’s bones. Naath took a deep breath preparing himself this meant he would progress into the early ninth stage of bone hardening.

After a few more minutes passed.

* CRACKLE!!!*

*SNAPP!!!!!!*

*BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Naath felt more pain than he ever had before when breaking through even just his bones turning to powder couldn't cause this level of pain. After turning to powder the bones continued to absorb energy as well. Naath’s eyes bulged from the pain and every vein on his body was popping out more than ever before. Naath however didn't lose his focus clearing his mind he closed his eyes again with great difficulty. He guided true void energy into this powder as it was absorbing energy.

Suddenly the rune shouted, “KID QUICK ONLY LET THE POWDER ABSORB TRUE VOID ENERGY!” Naath didn't hesitate to listen, not even having the time to feel anger.

Naath only allowed his bones to absorb this true void energy, after this the powder underwent an alarming transformation. The rune began trembling as he barely whispered to himself “pure physique…” The powder that used to be Naath’s bones was undergoing a strange transformation. Every single grain of the powder began to transform as it absorbed energy. Each and every grain became shiny and reflective, it was as if every single grain was turning into a small crystal. However they soon turned almost completely transparent. They were taking on the aspects of true void energy in every sense.

The bones became completely transparent, in fact if anyone but Naath wanted to inspect his bones they would be completely incapable. The bones were visible to Naath but only if he focused on them. They seemed like endless non-existent abysses when he wasn't focusing on them. When he was focusing they revealed swirling energy inside of them flashing in various colours. At the core of all of these energies, Naath sensed true void energy taking the position of marrow and the very core of his bones. When they were done forming Naath’s bones were only visible to him if looked at internally.

Naath’s aura also underwent a change and seemed like it was ethereal and there yet also not. His true void body had reached a perfect level in his bones. Naath was taken aback when he felt these changes.
