Chapter 22. Slaughtering a path out!

A sinister grin spread across Naath’s face, there was some rage still pent up that simply couldn't be vented by cultivation. Naath felt the need to hit something as hard as he could right now to vent. He just so happened to be in a place where he was surrounded by deadly magical beasts in every direction. Naath had also just promised Brutus a feast and he needed to deliver. Naath got up from the ground and patted himself off and began to move out towards the edge of the forest again. This time some simple fourth level bone hardening beast would absolutely not stand in his way.

In fact, most of the beasts that came into Naath’s path ran and scurried away sensing the killing intent and anger coming from his aura. Naath walked onward for 20 minutes with no beasts daring to step into his path. Until a familiar type of beast stepped out. It was another 4th level bone hardening rock bear, however, this one was at the peak stage. Naath clenched his first when this bear appeared in front of his path. Before it could even let out a roar and charge to attack Naath, Naath had already thrown a punch holding absolutely nothing back. The bear's head exploded immediately upon impact.

The skull fragments went into the nearby area like bullets tearing and ripping apart through leaves and trees alike. The fragments even managed to kill a few of the nearby hiding beasts. Of course, Naath knew they were there now, with his soul sea having almost entirely transformed like it had, he could easily sense everything within 50 feet of himself. Naath stepped over the bear's corpse, not even bothering to use it for food. This showed how angry he was at these bears for what had happened. Normally he would try to respect the life of animals and at least use them for food.

However, this bear was an exception for Naath from this day forward. After seeing what Naath did all the nearby beasts scattered out of Naath’s soul sense area completely. He and Brutus kept walking for another ten minutes before more beasts came into their path again. As they walked and got closer to the edge of the forest the beasts became stronger and stronger. However, even after three days of walking nonstop, Naath had killed everything in his path with a single blow. Brutus was even beginning to feel kind of bored. Wherever Naath walked turned into a path of blood and carnage as countless wild beasts fell by his hand. Finally, on the fourth day, a seventh level early stage bone hardening iron wolf appeared in front of them.

Naath actually had to do battle with this wolf for a few hours before he was able to kill it. Its defences were incredibly high as it had iron skin, Naath didn’t allow Brutus to interfere. After the wolf was dead Naath finally felt a need to rest and that his rage was dissipating. He let out a long breath and sat down under a nearby tree and threw out some firewood in front of himself and circulated some fire energy to light it. Naath then began to cook a dozen beasts over the fire as he had promised Brutus a feast and he was going to deliver.

After Naath and Brutus had stuffed themselves completely and relaxed Naath heard a familiar voice in his soul sea. “Brat refine that iron wolf's pelt. It will help to increase your own defences a bit and remove a few impurities from your own body.” Naath didn't make any sound or speak at all in response, he simply began silently skinning the metal wolf and removing the pelt. After it was done Naath ran his true void arts and pure metal energy poured into his true void membranes and into his bones. His bones after he was done had a slight metallic sheen to them.

His skin also felt more resilient all around his body and Naath didn't seem phased at all. After he was done he simply stood up and began walking towards the edge of the forest once more. Two days later he had to rest again from killing a few consecutive early seventh level bone hardening beasts. When Naath was done resting he went into cultivation realising that he would have to reach another level to go any further. This cycle continued for a long time, eventually, Naath reached the peak 7th level bone hardening. At this point, Naath simply walked along for another week killing as he went storing the corpses in his infinity gourd.

Naath decided that he would be like this until he left this forest he was trapped in after he would ask his new master Gui for ways to seal the rune. After three more months of nothing but killing beasts and cultivating Naath was finally at peak 8th level bone hardening. He was very close to breaking through to the ninth level. All of the elders were completely flabbergasted watching Naath’s swift progress. They were all so enamored with watching this young man they forgot to attend a few meetings from time to time. After all, they had never even heard of a talent like Naath let alone seen one.

Naath back in the forest was in the midst of battle with an early ninth level bone hardening beast, an earth armadillo. He finished the fight in a matter of minutes and moved on keeping his path forward. Brutus who had been following all this time had also increased his cultivation quickly. Although not as quickly as Naath perhaps, it was still seen as rare talent. He was now at the mid sixth level of bone hardening. Right now in combat Brutus could do little more than play a supporting role for Naath. Naath noticed this and decided after he left this forest he would help Brutus.

Naath moved on from the earth armadillo and next he ran into a fire elemental fox. All along the way as he battled Naath absorbed the elemental energies of the various beasts. This improved his body and his ability to produce various energy types by leaps and bounds. This entire time however Naath would play and rest with Brutus and have a good time before cultivating. Though every time the rune spoke Naath seemed like an emotionless demon that would take the advice it gave but that was all. To the rune in his soul sea this was the worst punishment he could think of.

He would rather be sealed or destroyed than be ignored like he didn't truly exist. He was beginning to realise to never touch that nerve again, that it was beyond even just some simple bottom line for Naath. It was as if the rune had touched the reverse scale of a slumbering dragon. After all these months of battle, Naath was finally nearing the edge of the forest and had to rest and devote everything to cultivation. He was starting to sense the auras of beasts with cultivations in the early first levels of muscle strengthening ahead of him.

After sensing these auras Naath retreated back a few miles for good measure. Once he was sure he was safe Naath began to cultivate in earnest while Brutus stood guard to alert him of any nearby beasts.
