Chapter 0199
The audience was expecting blood-filled drama enacted by Cardis, his Successor and the new student he is currently favoring.
That didn’t happen.
Kataigida has shown herself to be a gentle if not courageous woman who was fond of her Resonance Bond Holder. It was highly unlikely for her to cause a scene once she realized that another student had obtained the affection of her teacher.
Then again, Cardis was a renowned flirt who had women all over the world going to the extreme to gain a glimmer of his affection. Scenes of droves upon droves of women fighting each other was the norm around Cardis.
So it was to everyone’s surprise when Tempest glomped on the boy. Once Tempest teammate heard her yell of “4 natural elements,” they figured out the boy was the natural element everyone came here for.
“Mine, mine, mine,” Tempest yelled at the top of her lungs to declare her ownership.
“This sister, please let go.” the newcomer tried to get out of Tempest’s death grip but failed to move her. Instead, the glomp becomes tighter and tighter, like an anaconda squeezing the life out of its prey.
Starm, seeing his position as Tempest’s darling being usurped, rushed to the cheating duo and the three fell in a tangled mess of limbs.
“Big Sis Tempest is mine!” Starm yelled while trying to beat up the newcomer and reclaim his position as Tempest’s beloved brother.
“The bag of gold is mine!” Tempest yelled, glomping harder onto her treasure while trying to fend off a handsy Starm.
“Master help!” the newcomer yelled while trying to get away from both Tempest and Starm.
Tempest’s teammates were used to her silly actions. They ignored the stupid trio grappling on the floor.
The same indulgent if nonchalant attitude can’t be applied to the rest of the group. Each mage put up their guard and was keeping one eye on Cardis, another eye on the natural element and an eye on everyone else.
Even though they can’t use a natural element different from their affinities, they still want the natural element. Give them and their spirits enough time and they were sure they could rip the 4 elements natural element back down to its singular form and by then they would have 4 natural elements instead of one natural element with four elements.
They were willing to share the natural element with the other mages as long as they get a share.
Their major obstacle is Cardis.
Tempest blabbed out the information previously. The 4 elements natural element belong to Cardis. Instead of using it to bolster his cultivation, he decided to grow it instead. He would not allow them to take away the natural element easily.
Valstein Yoresteven and Miretta Morcean might be a problem for them as well. Valstein Yoresteven has a good relationship with Cardis and Miretta Morcean’s beloved descent was in the Eternal Spirit Guild.
Before they could consider it further, the natural element let loose his power.
Fire blaze.
Earth erupt.
Lightning struck.
Ice bombarded.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
The display of power dispels any notion of coveting the 4 elements natural element. Instead of bolstering their cultivation, it might take over their affinities when they merge it with their spirits. No one wants a vengeful spirit haunting them for the rest of their lifetimes. Yes, lifetimes! Spirits are attached to the soul. They can’t get rid of the 4 elements natural element even through death!
While the high-level mages were planning out the best method to profit off their excursion, Tempest’s teammate pretends they didn’t know Tempest.
When the fire blazed, Tempest put it out with water. When the earth erupts, Tempest… sank into the ground as if she was stuck in quicksand. Either by intent or dumb luck (Tempest’s teammate all thought it was the latter), Tempest was able to use the earth surrounding her to disperse the power of the lightning. As for the ice attack, Tempest would have to suffer through it but Starm wanted to cement his position in Tempest’s heart so he sent the ice attack away with his space spell.
“Really Tempest! What are you doing trying to snatch Cardis’ natural element?” Kataigida asked Tempest as she pulled her out of the sinkhole.
“I’m going to sell him, what else?”
“It’s not like you can guard him until you sell him. And what do you need the money for?” Kataigida asked in exasperation. Really, the things that go through Tempest’s mind!
“To buy food! What else should money be used for. I already have enough to save my sisters. If I sell him, I’d earn enough money to feed me a lifetime.” Tempest explained her reasoning in what she believes to be a quite logical manner.
The other mages, however, question her thought process.
Llyana Arosis in particular worried about Tempest as she was a part of her daughter’s group and it was Tempest insistence that brought the situation to Dilien Amerton, which brought the situation to her attention.
“Fenix, is the little girl going to be alright challenging Cardis’ bottom line as she is?” Llyana Arosis asked her daughter seriously.
Fenix waved away her mother’s concern like it was air. “Don’t worry about that silly brat mother. It would be more surprising if she didn’t get into trouble every day.”
The rest of Tempest’s teammate aside from Starm nodded in agreement.
“I heard that Fenix!” Tempest yelled.
“Then you would know that treasure you were trying to sell belong to Cardis,” Fenix yelled back.
“Of course it belongs to Cardis. That’s why I’m trying to sell it. I gotta get back at Cardis somehow.”
“And pissing off your backer benefits you how?”
“Kataigida is my backer, not Cardis. Cardis is the annoying fly in my otherwise yummy delicious food.”
“Cardis knows has a million and one ways to erase you without anyone knowing.”
“That manwhore? Really?” Tempest asked incredulously. Aside from seeing Cardis flirt, Tempest has never seen Cardis in action before. The image she has of Cardis is a carefree rich second generation ancestor. She can’t match up the Cardis in her mind to the legendary mage Cardis Gourd, Son of Volcano that everyone fears. Or is it Son of Inferno as not everyone knows he pushed his earth affinity to 90.
“Tempest.”
“Yes?”
“I’ll be known as a slut when I grow up. How strong do you think I’ll be when that happens?”
“Very strong,” Tempest answered immediately. All of her teammates have high potential. With the treasures they got from her, they were almost guaranteed to make waves in the cultivation world as long as they live long enough.
“Expound the thought onto Cardis,” Fenix instructed.
“Eeeekkk. He’s super duper strong!” Tempest finally got into her head Cardis’ power level.
“Yes. Now you understand why it isn’t wise to provoke him?”
Tempest glance at Fenix then at Cardis then back at Fenix. “Despite his strength and personality, Cardis has a stronger sense of responsibility than you. He won’t hurt me.” Tempest spoke the last sentence with a conviction.
Fenix quite trying to reason with Tempest. It wasn’t going to work and she doesn’t want to bang her head against the wall that is Tempest obtuseness. “Cardis, what would you do if Tempest sold that 4 elements natural element you’ve been nurturing for who knows how long?”
“I’d take her into the Mysterious Wasteland and sell her as debtor slave,” Cardis answered seriously.
“But that is a treasure!” Tempest heartfelt wailed resounded in the hearts of all the high-level mages here.
“A treasure that belongs to me. I take exception to those who would try to steal from me.” Cardis’ feral grin made everyone aware of what kind of ‘exception’ he doled out to those who stole from him.
“Hieek.” Tempest ran to Kataigida and tried to hide in her billowing robes. It didn’t do much good but this was Tempest they were talking about. She probably thought she was hiding behind the biggest fortress ever created.
“Now do you understand the seriousness of your actions?” Kataigida chided.
“4 elements natural element wouldn’t have sold that much money anyway. It's not like anyone can use it.” Tempest consoled herself, not willing to admit her mistake.
Everyone pitied Kataigida and Tempest’s teammates. Keeping Tempest out of trouble is a full-time job!
