Chapter 0003
Athena woke up in an unknown location.
“I’ve got to stop doing that,” grumbled the small little girl. “That’s twice in uhh… whatever hours it has been.”
Athena scanned her new surrounding, surprised at the amount of space. How could such a large room fit in such an itty bitty little ring? No wonder the original body wasn’t carrying any luggage. She didn’t have to.
Although Athena has been knocked around recently, the events didn’t render her intelligence obsolete. She read enough books to know she was inside the ring. Fantasy book for the win. Also, the wind wouldn’t tell her to bind the ring with her blood otherwise.
“This definitely makes life very convenient.”
Ores, rocks, golds, books and foods were meticulously organized in this space. There was enough food here to feed her stupid family back on Earth for the rest of their lives. Seems like the original body and Athena share a common trait, a fear of going hungry.
The scent of herbs permeated the air. Where there are herbs there either are spices or medicine.
Athena hobbled to the rows and rows of jars she suspected contain medication. Her speed was quite fast. Something in this space allows her to move easier despite her injuries. Interesting.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
The black haired girl found several pills she thinks are used to treat injuries, yet she hesitated. Consuming unknown substances was dangerous. Furthermore, Athena did not know the effects of the pills. She can only judge the effect of the pills by their name, which in itself was strange because the writing system in this world is not something she is familiar with yet she is able to read the labels on the bottle.
“No other choice but to gamble on the Bone Mending Pill, Blood Clotting Pill, and the Seven Cycle Rejuvenation Pill.” The little girl proceeds to gobble the three pills like candy.
After a few minutes, a tingling sensation spread from her stomach to the rest of her body.
Then the pain began.
Anyone telling a sick patient the healing process can be painless is lying. Pain is a part of healing. Pain tells the body something happened. Doctors in the modern world can lessen the pain, but they can not make it go away completely. Temporary relief is possible, but it can lengthen the healing process by adding addiction as a side effect the patient has to deal with.
Right now, Athena wanted to tell all the liars, “Who cares if you are lying, I’ll take the false comfort over this pain any day, just give me those damn pain pills now.”
Pink, you are right with your song. Just like a pill, instead of making it better, it's making me ill!
The pain cycled through Athena’s body nine times, mending bones, erasing bruises, closing cut and repairing any internal injuries.
A soothing sensation rippled through Athena as the pain slowly ebbed. “First thing I’m going to do in this world is invent pain medication.” Athena silently swore to herself, “Once was enough.”
Athena had to admit though, the medicine was good. The fractures on her legs, her sprained wrist and ankles, and her cuts and bruises were all healed. Aside from the torn blue Chinese style clothing, nothing indicates Athena fell off a cliff.
The combination of medication did not leave her with a sense of elation, though. Fatigue plagued the healed body. Having gone through the healing process several times back on Earth, Athena knew the fatigue was just a way her body was telling her she needed to rest.
Athena refused to succumb to the beguiling offer. She needed food. Athena knew if she didn’t eat anything now, she won’t be able to eat later.
Athena quickly gobbled the food at the other end of rooms, then promptly went to sleep.
