Chapter 0168.5 Hannah Trellis
“Where did it all go wrong,” Hannah Trellis thought as she viewed the memory Astrapi kindly ‘bestowed’ upon her.
Perhaps, their friendship started off wrong in the beginning.
Skylar Sedonis was the precious pearl of the Augar Kingdom. She was the only child born in the current generation with high affinities.
Hannah Trellis was the twelfth daughter of a greedy merchant.
Their meeting, no matter how innocent was, was surrounded by schemes, plots, and greed. Each time the girls met each other, the people behind them tried to position themselves to receive the most benefits from their friendship. They both knew what was going one. Hannah Trellis tried her best to be a true friend to Skylar Sedonis. She tried, yet her effort only resulted in a friendship marked by greed. It was her shame. It was one of the stigmas she tried so hard to erase.
Hannah Trellis thought it got better when she was grouped with Mark Aventil, the sixth prince of the Solen Kingdom. She was overjoyed with her grouping. She could act as a bridge between the Augar Kingdom and the Solen Kingdom. Finally, she could bring something to the table. Finally, she could stand on somewhat equal grounds with Skylar Sedonis.
She rushed toward Skylar Sedonis to share her good fortune. Then she met a rule breaking little mage selling her charms. What the annoying mage was doing was wrong. Conscious of Skylar Sedonis’ position in the Disciplinary Hall, Hannah Trellis went to confront the little outlaw.
Hannah Trellis easily admit, she got her butt kicked. Anyone who breaks the rules has to have the power to back her up or they have a powerful backer. Realizing this, Hannah Trellis redouble her effort with Mark Aventil. She had Skylar Sedonis but she wanted the backing of the Solen Kingdom as well.
Her effort only caused her to clash against the little outlaw again. This time it was over a magical beast corpse.
Hannah Trellis didn’t know the cause and effect. She didn’t want to know. She had her prioritized, to be a bridge between the Augar Kingdom and the Solen Kingdom. With the thought in mind, she chose her side.

Everything leads her to now.
Hannah Trellis had a good view of the little outlaw. She knew they were up to something. Their movement in the camp the night before was too suspicious. Therefore, Hannah Trellis kept an eye out for the little outlaw and her effort paid off.
They were using the other mages as a smokescreen to take the treasure from the chaotic rift for themselves.
Hannah Trellis wasn’t going to allow them to use her and her group as cannon fodder. So, when it looks like she had the advantage, she confronted them.
It had led her to this.
Skylar… Skylar Sedonis, her friend, had given up on her.
Hannah Trellis wanted to blame the little outlaw for getting her in this predicament but she knew it was all her own doing.
Hannah Trellis was going to die. She took a quick glance at the one who was the cause of everything… and saw not the person she offended but the spirits behind her. Suddenly she understood what “You shouldn’t have offended my beloved,” meant.
To be loved by the spirits to such an extent, the little outlaw was not an ordinary person.
She was so blind. She was so blind she couldn’t see the signs all around her. She didn’t realize why no one was bothering the little outlaw with her makeshift store. She didn’t see how arrogant the little outlaw was despite knowing the status of the other person. Hannah Trellis was so confident Skylar Sedonis was going to take revenge for her she closed her eyes to the obvious.
Stupid.
Stupid.
Stupid...
Skylar!
Even though she knew Skylar Sedonis cut all ties with her, in her heart, she still believed in her friend. Skylar Sedonis won’t take action for her death. She said she won’t, so she won’t. It doesn’t mean she won’t find trouble for the little outlaw for other things and mix in a little repayment for Hannah Trellis. She’d seen Skylar Sedonis do it before. She can’t let that happen. Hannah Trellis knew Skylar Sedonis might get away with taking a little payback here and there from the little outlaw but it would eventually get her into trouble.
Skylar Sedonis had already abandoned her as a friend, but Hannah Trellis won’t abandon Skylar Sedonis as a friend.
“We died during the magical beasts ambush.” Hannah Trellis said before closing her eyes and accepting her fate.
“Friends until death.” Hannah Trellis thought of the vows they made so long ago. “I’ll be going first, my friend. I love you, but I’m sorry too. I hope we don’t meet each other in our next life. I won’t be able to live with the pain and karma if we do...”
