Chapter 0159
An annoying little fly kept buzzing around Tempest, disturbing her sleep. She made several half-hearted attempts to swat the fly but it keeps on coming back more annoying than ever.
“Tempest it is time to get up.” Swat. Shoo fly shoo. Tempest hasn’t had a good night's sleep in a while. She wants to drill deeper into her super duper comfortable bedding and sleep and sleep some more. No one was going to get her out of her bed.
Fenix helplessly returned to the rest of the group. The lazy bone didn’t want to get up. Somehow, the duty of waking up the lazy bone fell onto Fenix’s shoulders. Apparently, their sense of self-preservation was acute enough to know not to wake Tempest up when she didn’t want to be awakened.
That and the Bride of Frankenstein hairdo Li Ming was sporting when she tried to wake Tempest up earlier only to get zapped by a lightning spell. Li Ming shut up about the zap and got Fenix to wake up Tempest.
They were all aware Tempest said she was a wind water mage, yet it was obvious she had a lightning element as well. Tempest was one of their own now. They played dumb about Tempest’s ability.
“Sorry, no luck.” Fenix apologized.
“At least you didn’t get a new hairdo in the process.” Li Ming commiserated with Fenix. Hardship does bring people closer, although the saying was probably referring to a life and death fight instead of the misery a sleeping Tempest brought them.
“You girls are too kind. Kick her out of her bedding. I’m sure she’d get right up.” The generally stable Bei Ting Mao offered the most efficient solution to the problem. He received incredulous stares which turned into evil grins.
“Thank you for volunteering Bei Ting Mao. I’m sure with your amazing insight you would transform the lazy slug into a morning bug.” Fenix drawled out.
“Please get Big Sis Tempest up.” Starm stares adoringly at Bei Ting Mao with clear innocent eyes even though he knew he was sending Bei Ting Mao to his doom.
Bei Ting Mao regret his momentary lapse in judgment. He truly did. He didn’t want to suffer under Tempest’s hand yet he can’t back out now, not with three sets of eyes with varying degrees of expectation on him.
The metal earth mage knew he couldn't back out either. He can easily betray his comrades' expectations. They weren’t close but his senses were telling him that there was something wrong with the lazy slug. Bei Ting Mao wasn’t one to leave things buried. He wanted to dig to the source of the problem. His persistence got him a one way trip to Tempest smackdown.
The lazy slug was stronger when she was asleep than when she was awake.
"It won’t work. Tempest would just knock you unconscious and instead of waiting for Tempest, we have to wait for you.” Graden statement gave a way out for Bei Ting Mao. Bei Ting Mao shot a grateful look towards Graden before resuming his stoic appearance.
“How do you propose to wake Tempest up? We’ve tried twice with no result.” Li Ming tried to smooth down her new hair do to no avail.
The magic in Tempest swat was keeping her hair puffy. Unless Li Ming knew how to dissipate the mana in her hair, it would retain its upright shape. As a light water mage, Li Ming doesn’t have the right element to counteract the lightning mana in her hair. She couldn’t use force out the mana in her hair either. She thought she was stronger than that lazy slug.

Li Ming didn’t give her the nickname because she was like a boneless snake when she was sleeping. No, it was because when everyone spent all their time meditating, trying to increase their cultivation, the lazy slug drilled into her bedding and feel asleep without a worry.
Sleeping soundly in the middle of camp filled with wounded cultivators, schemes foxes and lying snake, what was going through her mind! Nothing, obviously, because she’s asleep!
It seems the lazy slug can fall asleep soundly because she has some power.
Graden smiled gently, “Simple.” Then in a loud voice so the lazy slug would hear, “Breakfast is ready. First come first serve.”
Boom!
“Food! Where is the food? First come first serve? Who dares fight with me for breakfast. I’ll grind your bones to make my bread.” Tempest shot out of her bedding like a thirsty woman in the middle of a dessert seeing an oasis or a foodie living on slop finally seeing the light that was good food.
Graden put on a sad expression before saying, “Sorry Tempest, I lied. Breakfast was served a while ago and you missed it.”
Tempest crumpled at the news. “All that delicious food and there is none for me.”
“Next time, wake up when we call you.” Fenix rubbed salt on Tempest’s wound. She didn’t forget she suffered under Tempest’s hand a while ago. Tempest can really hit.
“No one came to wake me up.” Tempest dejectedly retorted. She immediately teared up at the thought of going hungry. The lazy slug’s eyes glistened with tears, her bottom lip stuck out in an exaggerated pout while her cheeks puffed up like a squirrel, looking really pitiable.
Graden grabbed Fenix and Li Ming as they lunged for Tempest.
“Stop it you two.”
“Did you hear what she was saying?” Fenix cried out.
“I’ve heard and I know if you two were to beat her for minor trifles, she’d do something worse. Don’t flex power you don’t have.
Retaliate only when you are sure you won’t be caught or when you are sure you can win. Even if you two were to join hands, you won’t win.”
“Who says we can’t win. Tempest isn’t that strong.”
“Starm.”
“Uh.” They forgot the little brat would take Tempest’s side whether she was right or wrong. They might have a chance to win against Tempest if they joined hands but they don't’ have to confidence to win against Tempest and Starm.
Tempest, the airhead, might let them off but they were sure Starm would exact his revenge.
Indeed, the little boy was standing to the side like an abandoned waif, sending beseeching eyes towards his beloved Big Sis Tempest, begging her to pay attention to him. Once the two-faced cherub - cause he’s still cute when he’s evil - saw their faces he’d turn on his sinister aura and sent them his death glare of doom. Yeah, the two face cherub was going to punish them if they did anything to the lazy slug.
“Hey, what are you guys doing?”
“Nothing, Tempest.”
“Okay. Food? What about the food? Did you guys save me some?” Tempest looked at her group members with teary eyes puppies use begging for scraps. Tears glisten those clear black orbs making anyone who sees Tempest pity the poor child.
“Relax. I saved some food. It is over there. Hurry and eat. We have to break camp soon. Our dubious overlord won’t be happy if we delay the group.”
Tempest ran over to the indicated food with an “I know I can count on you Graden,” and proceeded to gobble down the food. “What dubious overlord are you talking about Graden?” Tempest asked around a mouthful of food.
“It was your suggest last night to go along with the set up because they cast such a large net that we can’t avoid it.”
“I don’t remember saying anything about that.”
“You said it between food orgasm.”
Tempest cocked her head in contemplating then nodded in agreement. It is definitely something she would do.
“What is the plan? I hope you thought up a plan when I was sleeping.” Tempest continued to eat. She asked the question but she wasn’t really paying attention to the answer.
“No plan really. Follow the group, kill, get loot.” Graden said casually.
Tempest knew it wasn’t as easy as Graden made it out to be. Tempest also knew there was a plan but Graden didn’t want to say anything because he didn’t want to tip his hand.
“Fine by me. Just remember the loot distribution is 70:30.” Tempest continued to chomp on her food, unconcerned about the subtle plotting going on around her.
