Chapter 0148
Fenix was surprised she was surprised by Tempest’s demand.
The little money grubber never hid her greedy nature. Her lectures show a different side of her. A scary tyrannical side of her no one wants to see again. Yet, despite it all, Tempest was on point in many of her observations. Tempest was very insightful. So insightful, Fenix was tempted to come to her for a brainstorming session should she run into a bottleneck. A little emasculating won’t hurt her. She doesn’t have a manhood for Tempest to emasculate anyways.
The thought of future consultation was put on hold. The price Tempest would demand for said consultation might not be something Fenix could afford and she doesn’t want to go into debt either. She’d already saw Tempest’s ruthlessness against those who owes her… of which Fenix can sadly say she is a member of.
“No interest! I’ll pay for the cost of the materials and one silver for every charm thereafter.” Fenix got right down to the point.
The scary thing about Tempest’s greed is the extremely fast rate which it balloons. The original debt of 600 silvers, no lets say the original debt of 100 silvers because Fenix was sure Hannah didn’t destroy that many charms and Tempest isn’t nice enough to charge her market price for her charms, has ballooned to 800 silvers. Or is it 900 silvers now? Fenix can’t tell with Tempest.
Despite knowing the trap called greed, Fenix still jumped in. Tempest is right. She should hide her shortcoming with charms. Instead of a fire mage, she’d make herself out to be a fire wind mage. In order to effectively pull off the illusion of her being a wind mage, she’d needed a lot of wind charms.
Furthermore, a preliminary test shows water charm can somewhat ease the backlash of her spells. It isn’t as good as directly receiving water mana from directly from another mage, but it will do in a pinch.
“No way! Higher grade charms are harder to make. I will lose out if I waste one set of materials. Materials plus 10% of market price.” Tempest bargained.
“Materials plus 1% of market price. The mark up on charms aren’t that high.” Fenix countered. Charms are disposable good. The higher the grade of a charm, the higher it costs. Everyone knows this.
“High-level charms are very expensive. Materials plus 5% market price.” Charms are not as expensive as other cultivation resources such as pills. Expense wise, weapons are the most expensive cultivation tool for a mage, followed by talismans, armor, natural born elements, pills then charms.
“The discount only applies to the charms I’ve made.”
“Deal.”
“Deal.”
“Big Sis Tempest, don’t ignore me for the fat hen.” Starm jumped into the conversation. He wanted his time with his big Sis Tempest. He wanted big Sis Tempest to praise him like she did all the others.
Starm was such a big sis con, he conveniently distorted the situation to suit his line of thinking. If the others were able to read his thoughts, they’d smack him, child or no. Praise? What praise? They were being roasted alive by a devil posing as a young girl!
“Starm.” How could Tempest forget the other masochist, ahem, student! These people are to be her students, group members, team mates, friends, and whatever adjectives used to describe their relationship. They are meant to be comrades in arms, not pain loving idiots. Although...now that she thinks about it, all most all main character in a cultivation novel is masochists. Pain? What is pain? It is called tempering your body. The more you temper yourself, the stronger you will get. Gaining strength, doesn’t that feel great? Isn’t that what a masochist is?

Umm.
Yeah.
How could Tempest forget the other masochist presenting himself for a verbal slashing?
“Yes, Big Sis Tempest?” Starm smiled winsomely. Finally, it was his turn.
“Are you trying to advertise you are an origin mage? Flashing spells from all different elements means you have many elements, but how common are darkness and space mages? Who knows what other powerful spells you are going to cast, time? Sooner or later someone is going to realize what you are and kidnap you. Then what are you going to do?”
“I’d kill them all.” Starm said seriously. He was trying to go for a cute, but it didn’t work. Teenagers and above like cute children. If Starm tried this on an adult, then they’d be all over him. Tempest is a different story.
Tempest is physically ten years old now. She is basically a child. When a child sees another child acting cute and getting their way, they don’t say “Awww, how cute!!” and shower them with hugs and kisses. Heck no. Children are selfish creatures. They aren’t old enough to learn how to share. They freely express their emotions, the good and the bad. The freedom to express themselves is a double edged sword. Since they have freedom, they don’t know restraint.
Put a selfish slightly older child in front of a younger child trying to act cute in front of them and the younger child would be ignored at best, beaten until they are black and blue at worse.
Tempest is at the age where Starm’s adorableness irritates her. She is the selfish slightly older child and Starm is the younger child trying to act cute.
Hey wait a gosh darn minute! Act cute while he said he was going to kill everyone. What the heck is that? What kind of psychopath is he? A strange one.
“Could quit with the act?” Tempest asked. Tempest hoped Starm wouldn't see through her tough girl act, but let’s face it, he can see through anything with his powers.
“What act?”
“The cute little boy acts.”
“But it isn’t an act Big Sis Tempest.” Starm protested. He wasn’t acting like a cute little boy. He is a cute little boy. He is the personification of cuteness with his clear bright eyes, pale white tender skin with a hint of chubbiness and adorable facial features.
“How can you not say it isn’t an act?”
“This is the way I am. I am not pretending.”
“Really?”
“Yes Big Sis Tempest.”
“You mean to tell me you never grew up after living for thousands of years? Uh huh. Like I’d believe that.” Tempest scoff as she revealed on of Starm’s secret to the group.
