Chapter 0110

Chapter 0110

“Show yourself immediately and I might be lenient.” Tempest yelled sounding very much an evil overlord of the mafia or dark organization.

No one attacked you.

“I knew that.” Tempest said trying to cover up her carelessness. “I’ve always wanted to say that. Now that I think about it, it sounds very corny.”

You sound like one of the third rate monologuing villains you and your sisters make fun of.

“I don’t sound that bad.”

You sound worse than bad. A villain at least sound like an evil adult. You sound like you are trying too hard to be evil and coming up short. Think Mini Me and you understand what I’m getting at.

Tempest grimace. Somethings should be attempted when on is young. The foolishness can be attributed to youth. If the same scenes were enacted by an adult, then it would be very cheesy and the person doing it should be mocked for the rest of their lives. Acting like a stupid villain is one of those things Tempest always wanted to try.

Still, Mini Me? Mini Me, the comic relief in Austin Powers. The little midget who tries so hard to be bad like Dr. Evil only to turn the whole scene into a comic relief it was meant to be. Regardless of how silly she acts, she is not the comic relief! She the badass main character bent on vengeance and kills all her enemies without qualm.

“How the hell do you liken this beauty to an ugly midget? That was seriously a low blow Ventus!”

Both of you are short and are the comic relief in an otherwise serious story.

“The only similarity we have is our size and I’ll rectify that issue within a couple of years.” There is nothing wrong with admitting she is short right now. All ten year olds are short. Even though she thirteen, her physical age is that of a ten-year-old girl. In another decade, she’d become an awesome beauty. All the mages are beautiful!

Comic relief.

“Listen Ventus, I know I have been outright ignoring you guys unless it suits my purpose, but that doesn’t excuse your lame attempt at vulgar profanity to get my attention. Now please keep in mind, whether on Earth or in the Cardinal Realm, yours truly is the all-powerful badass main character! Main character!”

Then what was the display previously? If it wasn’t a perfect example of a villainous monologuing, then what is?

“A momentary slip in judgement. I never claimed to be normal.”

Pause.

It is good you are comfortable with who you are now to allow your childish side to show. We truly regret our presence in your life causes you to miss out the childhood you deserve.

Tempest grew at quite essentially their admission of guilt.

Back then, she was too busy trying to deal with all the bullshit life threw at her to really examine the cause and effect. She blamed the spirits for being there, for opening her senses to the paranormal in a scientifically based society. She didn’t need nor want their love and concern. She was fine by herself.

They said hindsight was 20/20. After accepting the herself and her powers in this world, she can she the world in a different light.

The spirits had a part in messing up her life, however, they shouldn’t bear all the blame.

Tempest could have changed the way she lived, actively trying to find a better life for herself instead of passively accepting the situation and blaming fate.

Her mother could have changed her ways. Instead of clinging to one man after another, she could have changed. With all the money she got from the government to raise them, she could have gone back to college and get a degree. Yet she rather wallows in sloth, pumping one baby after another, so she doesn’t have to work. It is easier to live off government handouts rather than trying to improve herself.

Her siblings could have change as well. Most of them did alright. They didn’t end up in jail or like mom, being a baby maker and living on government hand out, although one of her sister made a decent living as a surrogate. “It’s an honest living.” she had once told Tempest on her rare visit back to their run down apartment.

“I forgive you, even though I’m not really in the position to forgive anyone. We all make mistakes. Granted, some more than others, but we all make mistakes. Even a billion-year-old creature like you makes mistake, much less the inexperience me back then. I could have been proactive in managing my life instead of going with the flow. I should have taken control of my life and I would have prevented the tragedy that occurred. But you know what? Shoulda, woulda, coulda doesn’t cut it. If the past didn’t happen, I wouldn't meet them. I’m thankful for the good memories it brought me. So thank you. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for your love and concern. Thank you for being with me all this time. I wouldn’t be who I am without your love and protection.”

It is the meaning of our existence. To make you happy.

“Okay, now that we’re done with the sappy stuff, what was it that attacked me?” Tempest asked, changing the topic. Tempest isn’t one for being sappy and emotional. She tries to avoid it like the bubonic plague it is.

The sword. Ventus sent a touch of wind to lead Tempest to the source of the attack.

Amidst all the rubbles laid... a katana? It looked like a katana she sees in the movies, yet Tempest sense there was something different about it.

This katana was different from the short sword Tempest held previously. Instead of a cool, calm feeling coming from the sword, Tempest sensed a massive amount of stored energy ready to strike a moment’s notice.

Tempest cautiously inched towards the sword, ready to flee if it sends her another burst of energy. When there was no reaction, Tempest gently prodded the sword. Nothing.

Tempest looked around for another presence in the room. The katana doesn’t seem to be the culprit that sent her flying, yet she can’t discount Ventus word.

Seeing nothing out of the ordinary in the room, Tempest reached down to pick up the katana.

The short sword Tempest held previously was called a short sword for a reason. This katana was a full-size weapon, approximately 75 cm in length, 1 km in weight and a grip Tempest can barely wrap her hands around.

Similar to the short sword, there was no inlaid gems or fills on the sword. There was nothing to differentiate it from a katana bought from a cheap blacksmith. It was only when one holds the katana do they realize there was a contain power within.

Unlike the short sword, where Tempest can somewhat swing it, the katana is too long for Tempest to wield it. Forget swinging it. Unsheathing the sword is also a problem. The katana was about two-thirds her height. If she hangs the katana at her waist like the samurai of days past, when she moves to draw the sword, it will be half in the sheath and half out of it. Tempest doesn’t have the reach to pull the sword out completely.

The other alternative is to carry the katana on her back like Leonardo. Dual wields Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle style!

Tempest attempted to just that.

Imagination is much better than reality.

First of all, Tempest spent a full thirty minutes finding rope to jury rig the katana to her back. The ropes on the scabbard were designed for an adult body. The fit isn’t right on Tempest immature physical form.

When she did get the weapon on upright on her back, it smacks her when she walks. One step, knock. Two steps, knock, knock. Three steps, knock, knock, knock. Her skull would be harder than steel if she carried the katana around on her back.

Forget maneuverability when it was strapped on her back, the original problem still exist! Tempest can’t unsheath the katana when it is on her back. She tried once and got a haircut from the endeavor.

Seeing as the hair was quite close to her throat, Tempest decided not to mess around. She didn’t want to be the first mage to cut her own head off trying to unsheath a weapon.

Still, Tempest loath to relinquish the katana. It simply felt like it was made for her. The power of the katana called to the lightning part of her.

Tempest thought about it for a moment, then threw the sword into her space ring. No sense letting a perfectly good katana go to waste.

Tempest hummed happily as she continued on her shopping spree.
