Bio: Before he was Prime, the Cybertronian known as Orion was a simple data hauler, seemingly no different than any other Autobot. However, a chance encounter with the Decepticon gladiator known as Megatron would have a massive effect on his life. Initially sympathetic to the revolutionary, the two's relationship would change when Megatron took control of the city-state of Kaon. Orion witnessed his brutal rule over it, and immediately cut off contact with the blossoming warlord.

When Megatron's newly militarized Decepticons attacked the storehouse Orion worked at, the Autobot attempted to stop them, seemingly dying at Megatron's hands in the process. Orion survived, however, and was granted the long defunct title of Prime in an attempt to humiliate the growing Decepticon movement. But this title was purely ceremonial, and the new spiritual leader of Cybertron, now known as Optimus Prime, could do nothing but watch as city-state after city-state was allowed to fall under Decepticon control, while the planet's ruling council instead focused on reinforcing the wealthy capital province.

Eventually, Optimus Prime found that he could no longer stand on the sidelines. He assembled a team of trusted friends and good-natured bots, and launched an insurgency against the new Decepticon government in the city of Iacon. The campaign was successful, and many Cybertronians from all over the planet, mostly Autobots, joined up with Optimus Prime. These resistance fighters would fittingly become known as Prime's Autobots, but would more often than not simply be referred to as "the Autobots" in the war to come.

Abilities: Optimus Prime is very large and incredibly strong for a Cybertronian of Autobot make, and one of the few who can consistently hold his own against the average Decepticon. He is equally skilled in both ranged and melee combat, and is an excellent marksman with his now iconic Ion Blaster. Although not the fastest in vehicle mode, he is capable of hauling heavy loads, and his large size makes his ramming velocity something to be feared.

Although physically imposing, Optimus's greatest strength is in his spirit. He is a natural leader, not only for his intelligence, but for his great sense of compassion as well. Many of the Autobots see him as something like a father, and even the most surly among his crew can't help but be inspired by him.

Notes: (From Ironhide): Optimus is something Cybertron desperately needs, and something that it has not had in a very, very long time. He is the most selfless bot I have ever known, and I've known quite a few in my time. I never thought I'd pick up a blaster again, but if that good-for-nothing buckethead Megatron got me halfway there, Optimus brought me the rest of the way.

If Prime's got one weakness, it's his self-sacrificing nature. He never assigns a risk if he knows he can take it, and sometimes he plays fast and loose with his own life. I don't think he realizes how important he really is.
