Volume 4 Chapter Two: Don't Stop

The formation Dali’s party used was quite possibly the strangest ever seen.

Paella tanked, allowing the enemies’ attacks to hit her.

In doing so, she trained her defensive and regenerative skills.

She monitored her active and passive regeneration carefully.

She stayed at .5% health for the almost the entirety of every fight.

Aesh cast spells, but he also would kill stray undead with his other methods.

When there were no undead near him, he would dance as he cast spells.

Aurora thinned them down by constantly running between them and swinging her blades with perfect accuracy.

Rell gave orders, changing the tactics as necessary.

At the same time, he was in charge of crowd control.

He made sure that only a few reached Aesh at a time.

He made sure that none escaped.

Aurora was higher level than him.

She did more damage.

She had an aura of fear around her.

But the monsters, even with the primitive sentience granted to them by whatever force had raised them, feared Rell more.

He swung a skeleton in each hand as weapons.

For him, some weapons were expendable things, meant to be used, destroyed, or discarded as he pleased.

For him, a person was that weapon.

In addition, he was the perfect tactician, directing his party to where they would be the most effective.

The exception to this rule was Dali.

It wasn’t that Dali refused to listen to Rell.

It wasn’t even that Rell didn’t want to order Dali around.

They had found that during the heat of battle, Dali couldn’t hear anything outside of the battle itself.

He couldn’t believe that he had lost himself in the fight to such an extent, and made them test it out.

However, even in a quiet skirmish, with the entire party shouting at him, Dali couldn’t hear anything.

Therefor Rell, and by extension the rest of the party, were forced to work around Dali’s part of the battle.

Dali fought by jumping, spinning, rolling and running while half a dozen swords flew around his head.

Consequently, the party tended to steer clear of where he fought.

He had devised a system where his boomerang swords could be sheathed quickly, and could use it even while in midair.

Aesh had the lowest stamina, so he was the first to complain.

“When are we going to take a break?”

The others had also been thinking about it.

They had been fighting without rests for nearly eight hours, and all of them were beginning to feel fatigue, physical and mental.

This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.

However, whenever Rell was about to call for a break, Dali would dash ahead to find new enemies.

This is why, although Rell was the leader, they all looked at Dali.

“No break.” he said shortly.

“We’ve got to stop eventually Dali.”

“You’re right,” he conceded.

“Consider the number of mobs left a countdown until the break.”

With that, he went charging ahead again.

The party followed him.

It may seem strange that they followed him, but it has to do with the mentality they had developed.

It had to do with the balance of power.

All of them were thinking about it to an extent already.

Even in college, the ones who work more improve.

They were currently at a precarious balance of power.

Depending on the circumstances, the strongest one would be different among them.

However, if they took a break while Dali fought monsters, that would change.

He would become stronger, and they would not.

There was camaraderie as well.

However, the camaraderie only aggravated it.

In order to be friends with someone, there must be some sort of equality.

Dali, however, was rich.

He was a genius.

And he was strong.

However, they were all about the same strength.

They were afraid that if he went alone, he would get stronger.

They were afraid he would get stronger than them.

And they were afraid that the difference between their strengths would end their relationship.

They knew that he was a being beyond normal comprehension.

And they knew that if they fell behind, they would never catch up.

But they knew that if they stuck with him, we would take them to the next level.
