It had been a week in the game, and he finally learned to walk with, although not expertise, proficiency.
Selana, who had helped him learn, was also satisfied with his progress.
“Alright, now you’re going to learn to walk for real.”
He started at that.
“What do you mean?”
“Do you want to walk like that for the rest of your life? Of course not. You can barely walk in a straight line.”
That was not entirely true, but close enough to keep him from objecting.
She led him into the large building off of her house. He had previously not been allowed in, so he was eager to see what was in there.
Immediately inside was a flat piece of wood, held up at both ends.
He looked at her, confused.
“Well, what are you waiting for?” She asked, “Get on up there!”
He clambered onto the beam, and she told him to walk across it.
He tried, but fell off.
She told him to keep trying until he could walk across it a dozen times in a row.
This was how he spent his second week.
“Skill info”
Balance (Lv. 3 3.6%): Allows you to walk on narrow and slippery surfaces with ease.
Roll (Lv. 4 45.5%): Allows you to reduce fall damage by transferring downward momentum into rolling.
“Well done.” Selana had found his balancing good enough as well. “Next up is running, jumping, and climbing.”
“Actually,” Dali said, “I’m fine with this, I think I might go learn how to fight, get in good with the warriors guild, you know?”
“I’m sure you do, which is why I am in charge. You think you can adventure when the only thing you can do with your legs is walk?”
“But I’ve only increased Agility and Luck so far!”
“Which is why it’s good that these next skills will train Strength and Stamina as well.”
He had no response to that.
He still hadn’t studied.
At the end of the third week he had Run level 4, with the subskill Sprint level 2, and Climb and Jump were both level 3. Roll had increased to level six.
He had also gained a fair number of stat bonuses, which he hadn’t been paying much attention to.
“Stats window.”

“Congratulations”
Dali looked up to find Selana watching him.
“You’ve learned the four basic movement skills, and one advanced movement skill.” She continued.
He looked at her, confused.
“Run, Balance, Jump, and Climb. The advanced one is sprint.”
“So I’m finally done.”
“Nope!”
She sounded annoyingly happy about it.

“Now you get to see what I do for a living. But first you need to get a book from the library for me. It’s called ‘A Beginners Guide to Nobility’. Oh, and you have to be quiet. I heard that they cut off someone’s hand once for cracking his knuckles.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. They…”
“The librarian keeps a greataxe next to his desk.” She interrupted.
He decided to leave before she gave him more bogus warnings.
He enjoyed walking around the city. Ever since he had arrived he found the architecture fascinating.
The doctor had arrived a couple of days ago. In game days, that is. Dali realised that even though he had not been studying, he was still spending almost all of his time in the game.
Well, as he was about to go to the library, he might as well make up for lost time.
When he entered the library, he noticed one thing straight away.
Leaning against the desk, next to the librarian, was a greataxe.
He was as quiet as possible as he looked for the book.
As it turned out, “A Beginner’s Guide to Nobility was a series, with almost fifty volumes. He picked up the first five, and began to leave.
*Ding!*
“WAAH!”
*Crash*
Dali sat on the floor, the books scattered all around him.
*Ding!*
He stared at the windows in front of him.

the Clumsy
Level 1
Granted for being incredibly clumsy in public.
+10 Luck
NPCs do not believe you can do delicate work.
NPCs will assume you mess up often.
You are known for being clumsy.
This title can increase in strength if you mess up in public.
The higher the level, the more people have heard of you and the clumsier they think you are.
Successes in delicate work are attributed to luck.
The librarian came over, helped him up, and gathered the books for him.
“What happened?”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry, I won’t yell again, I was just startled.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“Wha-what?”
“It’s no big deal.”
“But it’s so quiet.”
“Pshaw. More like empty.”
“But… but the greataxe.”
“That? Oh, Selana gave that to me. She bet that I couldn’t carry it back and forth to the library for a week. Thought I had gone soft in my age. I showed her.”
“Sel-Selana?”
“Selana is a girl who lives in town. Do you want directions to her house?”
“No, I think I’ll find it.”
He grabbed his books and took off running towards Selana’s house.
When he entered, she said “Ah, Dali, did you get the books?”
“You arranged for the librarian to have a greataxe just to scare me?!”
Her eyes widened at that.
“Oh no, you mean you asked her?”
“I fell over and I thought I was going to die!”
Selana laughed at that.
“It isn’t funny!”
“You’re right, and we didn’t even fulfill our objective.”
“I got the first five volumes.”
“No, it’s… nevermind. Why did you fall? I thought we had fixed that.”
“I was startled. A pop-up window told me I had gained a new skill.” There was no way he was going to mention the title.
“Stealth?” She brightened up at this.
“Yeah, how did you know?”
“I guess we did complete our goal after all.”
“You mean this was all just so that I would learn stealth?!”
“Yup, and now it’s time for you accompany me.”
“What?”
“It’s time to work boy, work.”
“What do you do, anyway?”
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m a thief.”
