Hey guys! I had an idea. I was thinking about trying to illustrate a couple chapters. I need to work on my drawing. If you want, I could put up a sample so you could see if you could tell what was going on. Downside is that it might take longer. So what do you think?

The army of monsters lay before them.
“Hold the line!”
Even if Rell didn't know the strategy their army was using, this would have told them.
The melee classes and the useless try to keep the monsters from getting to the wizards and archers, who inflicted damage and healed from afar.
It was a strategy that divided the troops into two groups, ranged and melee, offense and defense, or, as the low level warriors grumbled, fighters and fodder.
Because the melee classes were encouraged not to attack, but just defend, they would not level up nearly as often as the magic classes. Adventurers were in an even worse position, because the clerics were supposed to heal the warrior over them, meaning they would die even faster.
Rell didn't like it.
It was like clubbing your enemy with the blunt of your sword.
He shared his views, and the rest of the party agreed.
“I think,” Dali said, “it's more like dropping your sword and using a club.”
“It's fighting with one hand tied behind your back.” said Aesh.
“Or with your back turned to the enemy.” suggested Paella.
Aurora had thought of a longer analogy.
“The first half of us hide behind the second half. Then the second half turns and runs away, tripping over the first half.”
They nodded.
“I don't like it.” said Dali, “They take away our best weapons, our individual skills, and group us all together.”
“Worse,” said Aurora, “we'll be fighting defensively from the beginning. Considering we're invading, that's pretty bad.”
“Like a rabbit walking into a lion's den on purpose,” Paella put in.
“Well gang,” Rell said, “suggestions?”
“We just need to be faster than the slowest person.”
It took them a moment to realize that Aesh was talking to himself, and at that point he continued.
“Alright. Here's the plan.”

Their commander was surprised to find a party of five people with no ranged fighters. He shook his head just remembering it. Any decent party would have a mage, or at least a priest. This party had neither. They had members who looked like they could fit the part, but the party explained that that was just a bluff.
'What kind of party doesn't have a role, but pretends they do? That means they know it's important.'
The battle was beginning, and the monsters were locked in battle with the front ranks. There were three rows of warriors and adventurers, who would hold them there. He watched as warriors would be wounded by a goblin spear, and have the wound instantly heal.
Kobolds in the front would be shot by arrows or precise spells, while behind them, the real chaos happened.
Balls of fire erupted out of nowhere, blasts of lightning, freezing winds would kill monsters in drones.
Things were going according to plan.
They wouldn't last forever, but by the time they gave out, the monsters would be weakened and few enough in numbers that the high levels could rout them with ease.

Then he heard yelling, and looked at the line again.
He saw as a small number of warriors were pushed out of the way, or knocked to the ground at once. It wasn't much, but there was a small hole in the line.
The monsters pushed through.
Not many, but enough.
“Get them!” he yelled, and the wizards obeyed. But not before they attacked the line from behind, making another hole.
“No!” he yelled. It was too soon.
But in moments the monsters had broken through the line, and the remaining pieces were surrounded and destroyed.
What he didn't notice was that the first hole was where the five warriors from the same party had gone.
He also didn't see the small number of monsters who turned and went back the way they came.
The high level players who had accepted the class considered charging the monsters.
“There are just too many.”
They agreed.
“It's better to run and lose fame, then to stay and lose levels.”
They agreed again. And so the players who accepted the quest left it behind, along with the army they raised.

They had claimed that both Aesh and Paella were melee classes rather than mages so that they could all be in the front lines.
Dali fell first as the signal. As he went down, he tripped two more people.
Aesh, Aurora and Paella dropped as well.
Rell knocked over half a dozen as he fell.
But they didn’t hear the monsters talking as they fell.
“Did you see that?”
“They knocked people over and fell down.”
“They are traitors.”
“The enemy of our enemy.”
They passed the message along.
The five traitors stirred, preparing to get back up.
Suddenly, the monsters which seemed to have been ignoring them grabbed them.
The monsters began carrying them away from the battle.
“Shouldn’t we kill them?”
“What are you talking about? They’re taking us back to their base! Think about how many enemies there will be there!”
So they decided to let the monsters carry them away from the battlefield.
These were the monsters moving in the opposite direction as the flow.
The monsters brought them into a cave deep into the woods and threw them to the ground.
“These are traitors. Because of them we won the battle easily.”
“Good. Perfect in fact. Agents who can walk amongst the enemy.”
“Well, children. Will you join us?”
