The two guards talked to each other.
They had been delayed on their route by two idiot freedmen who decided to have a midnight duel.
“Good job back there.”
“What?”
“They tried to explain themselves.”
“Hmm?”
“Wanted to tell us why they were fighting.”
“Yeah.”
“They all do that.”
“Do they?”
“Yup. You didn’t let them though.”
“Should I have?”
“No. If you let them get started, they’d have talked for hours and then started fighting again.”
“Well-”
*CRASH*
The guards looked at each other, and ran towards the alleyway the noise was coming from.
They saw a person half buried in a pile of trash and broken furniture.
“Ow..”
He had some cuts from the broken furniture, and although he wasn’t seriously hurt, they he would have some bad bruising.
“That’s gonna hurt in the mourning.”
“How do you even do that?”
“Yeah, falling into the trash is pretty unlikely on its own.”
“But to get that hurt too…”
The person looked up at them as he removed himself from the pile.
“Ah.”
The guards spoke in unison.
Dali the Clumsy
“Well that explains that.”
“Let’s help him home.”
“We should take him to a healer first.”
“Yeah, if we leave him alone already injured, he’ll end up falling out of a window or something.”
They laughed as they took him to get healed.
“Don’t worry kid, it’s on us.”
“Consider it payment for the show.”
It was nearly morning when he made it back to Selana’s house.
She greeted him happily.
“I heard that crash. How did you distract the guards for so long?”
She could use a trick like that.
He blushed and looked down, shamefaced.
“None of your business.”
She tilted her head slightly.
“You seduce them or something?”
“What?!”
“I didn’t think they went for that. Was I wrong, or did you just play the other role?”
“What are you talking about?!”
“Did they know you were a guy or not. It’s pretty obvious, but you could probably pass if you tried.”
“What? No!”
“They didn’t know?”
She started grinning.
“You’re quite the femme fatale aren’t you Dali?”
“I didn’t seduce them!”
“Pity, that would have been hilarious.”
Dali stormed off to the room he had been staying in.
